Well, the distinction lies in the fact that it wasn't a matter of pure driving dominance, but rather due to other circumstances entirely.

If we look at Ricciardo, he truly outclassed Sebastian Vettel on track, and that is where the real difference lies.

I mean, seriously, did you see how much Button was beating Fernando Alonso this year?

Yes, he certainly did. He dominated him. Perhaps you should take another look at that specific season, back when Lewis Hamilton was occasionally driving like he was Pastor Maldonado.🍿

Alexander Gonzalez79 said:Some people are still clinging to the idea that a fraud remains a fraud, even after he was branded as such last year, and then proceeded to make what he considers the most brilliant career move by fleeing to join the most beloved team in the world—where the very people who once loathed him from the depths of their souls now worship him simply because he drives a red car. A single victory and a handful of podium finishes, all achieved without an equal teammate in a supposedly "uncompetitive" car, have somehow transformed him into a legendary driver in everyone's eyes; yet, if we refuse to call what Sebastian Vettel is doing this year a feat, then I must ask, what on earth do we make of what Daniel Ricciardo accomplished back in 🙏
?

is that just as Jenson Button did to Lewis Hamilton in 2011. 🙏
He absolutely tore him apart, didn't he? But does one single moment define a whole season? Of course not. Furthermore, isn't the mere necessity of using the word "fraud" in your opening sentence enough to expose the exact kind of "hater logic" and dismissiveness that you claim to be so allergic to? 🙂

Yes, but what does that actually imply? Is it truly wise for us to attempt to pass judgment on a driver's actual caliber based solely on the outcome of a single race? I mean, I certainly wouldn't dream of questioning whether Lewis Hamilton is an exceptional driver, because he clearly is, but surely there are plenty of other talented drivers out there—and, if I may offer my own humble perspective, perhaps even some who are superior.

steelmaker83 said:And what about what that statistician claims—exactly how many seconds of lead did Lewis Hamilton actually build over Nico Rosberg during the actual racing? Isn't that what a data analyst focuses on, isn't it? Not just driving behind the Safety Car, but the genuine race itself.

Lewis Hamilton truly earned his victory at the Monaco GP. It is just that the very same statistician pointed out, only two weeks ago, that Nico Rosberg was absolutely untouchable, rather than Lewis Hamilton. And where does that leave us now? Am I somehow peddling some sort of marketing scheme by suggesting that Lewis Hamilton is the superior driver?

steelmaker83 said:How can you say that? A winner—contrary to what graniteharbor502 might insist—doesn't necessarily have to be the greatest of all time. We had a perfect opportunity to witness that very distinction just the other day, didn't we? It’s much the same with certain world champions... even those who have secured multiple titles...

Look, the stopwatch doesn't lie; everything else is just noise. Whatever you, or I, or anyone else might feel about who the best driver is, it carries no weight compared to the cold, hard truth provided by the timing sheets.

steelmaker83 said:Now, is Hamilton perhaps lacking a bit in the mental department? Yes, he is. But is there anyone on the track right now who can touch him? There isn't. Not even close.

And honestly, perhaps it is for the best that his wits aren't entirely sharp, as it grants a sliver of hope to the rest of the field. Can you imagine if he were actually brilliant as well as fast? Would it even make sense to let him compete among these little toy cars? He would simply steamroll them all the way to Silverstone, every single time.

Nature, in its infinite wisdom, always finds a way to maintain some semblance of balance. That is why Lujo is a bit scatterbrained, and why a mediocre talent like Nico Rosberg still has something to hope for.

Where was that peerless Hamilton just one race ago, back in Spain? And how is it that "a mediocrity like Rosberg" managed to beat him fairly and squarely?

And where was Hamilton during the News Report Malaysia, when a highly contested Sebastian Vettel beat him in an inferior car?

jadeseal7 said:Another interesting observation is that back when Vettel was winning in a significantly less competitive car than Hamilton's, people were spitting on him, claiming he only won because of Mark Webber; yet now, we see Hamilton being elevated to the heavens even though he is only beating Rosberg and himself.

Well, my friends, that, my dear friends, is what we call MARKETING.

Signed.

Have you happened to upload a full gallery somewhere online? And I find myself wondering, what was the atmosphere actually like among the crowd once the Safety Car made its exit?

Gary Palmer8 said:you clearly listen to that clown Novak too much, obviously

I find myself wondering, what exactly are you talking about here? Which Novak are we even discussing? My focus remains entirely on the unfolding drama from yesterday's race. It was quite evident that Lewis Hamilton was operating in a completely different dimension, especially while piloting such a dominant machine. To secure first place at the Monaco GP—a circuit where one could possess a car five seconds faster than the field and still fail to make a single overtakes on track—is truly remarkable. I honestly cannot fathom why there was even a consideration of a pit stop in the first place. Even after the team advised him to stay out on the track, he ended up complaining about the tires later on. Honestly, if the team makes a blunder of that magnitude on their end, you are left dealing with nothing but a complete mess.

Gary Palmer8 said:It is truly fascinating how much Lewis Hamilton seems to affect people. 🙂 It appears everyone is desperately searching for any way to shift the blame onto an incompetent pit wall, who were ultimately responsible for making that final call to bring the driver in for a stop.

An incompetent pit wall, perhaps, but we must also consider a driver who seems to use his head solely as a convenient place to perch a racing cap and hang his earrings upon.

cosmicridge5 said:Yes, it is quite fascinating when you look at the details. His own team instructed him to stay out on the track, but since he was under the firm impression at that exact moment that both Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel were heading in for a pit stop, he essentially spiraled into a state of pure paranoia. He started venting over the team radio, complaining incessantly about his tire temperatures and how they were losing grip—it was all quite frantic. Consequently, the crew interpreted this outburst as a sign that Lujo was desperate to pit and was buckling under the psychological pressure. 😬 And given that he was absolutely certain the other two were pitting, his protests were inevitable, weren't they? It seems the pit crew, caught up in the sheer chaos and speed of the moment, made a blunder because they were perhaps too eager to accommodate Lujo's demands, failing to realize he was simply reacting to a perceived situation that wasn't actually happening. 😬

You are certainly onto something there. It appears they are genuinely intimidated by Ferrari, which seems to be driving them toward these kinds of impulsive, reactionary decisions. If things continue this way, we might actually see a three-way battle for the championship right up until the final race, which would be a stark contrast to how last season unfolded.

Here is the transcript from the press conference:
http://www.formula1.com/content/fom-...---monaco.html

I wanted to highlight this specific portion of Lewis Hamilton's response:
I saw a screen, it looked like the team was out and I thought that Nico Rosberg had pitted. Obviously I couldn't see the guys behind so I thought the guys behind were pitting. The team said to stay out, I said “these tyres are going to drop in temperature,” and what I was assuming was that these guys would be on Options and I was on the harder tyre. So, they said to pit. without thinking i came in with full confidence that The others Had Dona The same.

So, his team told him to stay out on track, which leads me to wonder if there was perhaps some sort of misunderstanding? Could he not have simply asked whether his competitors had already made their pit stops?
Monaco GP 2015 in Formula 1 ·
My very first thought once the checkered flag waved: what an absolute robbery 👎
Lewis Hamilton was simply untouchable, both during qualifying and throughout the race itself, and he deserved that victory down to the last millimeter.
I have to say, Lewis handled himself with such grace on the podium; I truly tip my hat to him for that.

But then we move on to the press conference, where we find out he actually sent a message to his engineer, expressing his fear that the competition might jump on fresh rubber during the safety car period to threaten his lead. Ultimately, I can't help but feel a portion of the responsibility rests with Lewis himself, can I? He is a seasoned veteran by now, and surely he understands just how difficult it is to make a pass on the streets of Monaco.
And yet, we see that the pressure from Ferrari is finally injecting some much-needed excitement into this year's championship battle.

Aside from Lewis, though, I found the performances of Sergio Perez and Jenson Button quite noteworthy 🙏

Lewis Hamilton secured pole position in Monaco, and honestly, given how the session unfolded, I suppose it was somewhat expected. This time around, however, it felt like Nico Rosberg was really pushing his luck right to the absolute limit. We saw some chaos with the penalties too; Romain Grosjean picked up a penalty for a gearbox issue, and Carlos Sainz was penalized for missing his weighing station, which effectively bumped Jenson Button up into tenth place. There might even be a chance for McLaren to scrape together a single point if things go their way. What are we all thinking for tomorrow's race? If the track stays as "cold" as it felt today, anything could happen, and wouldn't a little bit of rain actually make things quite interesting? 🙂
