The show was killer—over three hours long!—though they leaned a bit too hard into the new tracks for my taste, but man, the energy in that room was just unreal...

The setup was classic small-town USA chaos—not that I expected anything else given how things went last time—and even though my crew didn't believe me at first, turns out my pessimism was totally spot on.

Back at the same house for summer vacation with Steve—they’re actually starting work on the new album! They're gonna scale back the massive tours a bit and stick to shorter runs since the drummer just had a baby.

I gotta say it again though: the guy is a straight-up GENIUS. You don't run into people like him often—super chill, still has that authentic hometown vibe, and he's just hilarious to hang out with.

I’m not really feeling them as a band—tried giving them a fair shot, but just couldn't get into it.

That said, the singer Joe (or Steve, whatever)—he’s actually a distant cousin of one of my relatives. We ended up crashing at the same house during a summer trip a few years back, and man, the guy is a total genius. Definitely a character, too. And he can handle his liquor...🙂

Ultravox are the absolute best—they’ve got so much killer material, seriously just go dive into YouTube for a bit. They were never exactly mainstream superstars, but that whole "Vienna" album is pure gold. If you dig "Vienna" or "Dancing with Tears in my Eyes," you definitely need to check out stuff like "Lament," "Sleepwalk," and some of my personal favorites—"The Voice," "Visions in Blue," "The Hymn," and "Passing Strangers."
