I feel like every single season, we go through the same ritual. We find one kid with a decent arm or a rookie who looks even remotely promising during a scrimmage, and suddenly every pundit on TV is acting like we’ve found the second coming of a legend.
It’s getting exhausting to follow. I remember back in the day, you actually had to wait for a guy to prove himself in a real game before the hype train left the station. Now, it feels like we're building entire legacies around a single good practice session or a handful of clips from a training camp. I love the optimism, I really do, but it makes the actual wins and losses feel less impactful when we're already mentally celebrating a "breakout" that hasn't even happened yet.
I find myself stepping away from the sports news during the off-season just to avoid the endless speculation. It’s hard to stay invested when the narrative is always about what *might* happen rather than what is actually happening on the field.
Do you guys actually enjoy the summer hype, or do you find yourself tuning it all out until the preseason games actually start?
