I’ve decided to ditch the contacts—back to glasses for me—so I need to pick up a new pair soon. Does anyone know if I actually have to wander all over New York City hitting every single shop, or is there one spot with a massive selection and decent deals? Assuming they also handle the eye exams and all that jazz.

Thanks everyone!!!!

The General Electric clinic & optical shop right in the corridor behind the bakery near the Square...

You can get an exam covered by insurance—provided you have a referral from an ophthalmologist—which saves you the cash, though their frame selection is somewhat limited. Once you have that diagnosis in hand, just head over to LensCrafters right before the Bulldog; they carry upwards of 3,000 different frames.👍 👍

Rebecca Morris2 said:Also, yeah—I have those annoying prominent ears. I’m turning 18 soon and right now I can't even tie my hair up; it's thick and long, which is miserable in the summer heat, and my ears still poke through the hair—it's gross. I've decided to get surgery and done my research, but you wouldn't believe it—my parents won't let me do it. I spent so much time coming home crying as a kid because other children would tease me—the emotional scars are real, and my self-confidence is basically zero. Yet, they still won't let me, and they don't want to pay for it; I honestly can't believe it. Would any of you allow your child to go through this if it was destroying their mental health like this? 😠 Does anyone have advice on how to earn enough money for this? I don't want to go through Medicaid—to be honest, I'm terrified they'll do a hack job, and since you only get one shot at this, I want it done properly. Costs? Doctors? Any experiences?

I'm planning on seeing Johnson,6 $0.00 and everything—exams and all that—is included in the price
I'm not sure what he's like, but he couldn't possibly be worse than the doctors we have in the public hospitals...😠

Talk to your parents—explain everything, cry if you have to.😁

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid, budget-friendly surgeon for ear surgery?

I'm looking to keep the cost under $6,000 $0.00—honestly, every specialist I've reached out to so far is quoting closer to $10,000 $0.00 just for correcting existing ears. It feels excessive, if you ask me. 😠

It seems a bit steep for such a routine procedure...

By the way—does anyone have a recommendation for a private practitioner?

I ended up going the private route myself—our healthcare system is a total mess, much like the rest of the country...😁

There are plenty of private options that aren't overpriced—unlike someone like Glumičić...

For instance, you could look at Džepina or Dobrović.

Just search for local clinics on Google and you'll see a massive list...

Prices usually hover around $2000
There is a Gethaldus clinic and optical shop right in the town square—just past the Panera Bread... It's quite good, and you can use your insurance referral so there is no out-of-pocket cost. You might wait about a week for an appointment, but the specialist ophthalmologist is lovely.

The exam itself is slightly uncomfortable—though certainly not painful🙂🙂
Still...😢
So, nobody 🤷
Could anyone who has gone through this procedure in Washington, D.C.—specifically at one of the local hospitals—share their experience or suggest a reliable facility?

I’ve been doing some digging online, and from what I can gather, only the hospital in Brooklyn seems to offer it as an outpatient procedure.

Does anyone know the general price range or how long the waitlist usually is?

Thanks, everyone.🙂
