Okay, maybe leaving out the part about the cops—that was a total disaster. And hey, maybe if I had managed to fix a certain vibe... oops 😬
but whatever, lesson learned... next time I'll steer clear of the law. Honestly, I'd rather deal with a few days in jail for not reporting something than deal with them like that (since I doubt I'll have $5-$15 $0.00 floating in my pocket anyway), plus those uniforms just give me the creeps regardless... :2up:

Basically, my plan was to keep things going once they left, but then someone spread a rumor that riot police were coming to beat everyone down, so people panicked... and me? I felt so embarrassed by it all 🙈... I just didn't have the energy to pull everyone back toward a positive vibe again. I mean, I had the guts (not physically, obviously, but you get what I mean) to try... but I was just too exhausted to lead more people through that 🙂.. and right at that moment over on Main Street, there was this massive car accident and none of the officers even gave us a second thought anymore... we could have totally 😢

It's because I spent the whole night trying to charm the venue manager into letting us stay until midnight before realizing it was a lost cause. Getting a permit past 10:00 PM is basically impossible here. I thought I was being clever and "negotiating" with the guy I handed the paperwork to, thinking he'd let us roll until midnight—total rookie mistake! Then some random tenth guy shows up, won't budge an inch, and just laughs in my face like, "Why the attitude? You win some, you lose some." 🙂

That was totally on me for not stepping in and shutting that down. My deepest apologies to WCIF, to Kayli, and to everyone who showed up—everyone deserved a chill hour without that back-and-forth. When I'm mid-set, I'm in my own world and have zero clue what time it is, believe me! Once again, sorry WCIF! 🙂
Just throw some more fuel on the fire at the local dive bar and I'll show up for a rehearsal or two, or however many it takes... 🙂.

Quick little update:

Feel free to swing by around 8 PM. We won't be right on the embankment itself, but we'll be on the road leading up to it at the exact same spot, so you definitely won't miss us.
The street that runs from Horvat Street down to the embankment is called Petrovaradin Avenue, and that’s also the name of the light rail station where you'll need to hop off... so yeah, see you soon!:-)

Wednesday, July 9th:

It’s another scorching summer, and just like clockwork, things are starting to get a little too quiet. But hey, SHE has a band and she wants more action!!!

That pretty much sums it up. We aren't about to let the summer heat kill the vibe by letting live shows disappear, so we’ve decided to throw a little outdoor gig this Wednesday, July 9th. We'll be hanging out at the levee near the neighborhood (right in front of the water utility company, check the maps), and the music kicks off at 9 PM.

To support the ladies in music—who definitely need more spotlight—we’ve invited all-female bands and groups with female vocals. Because of that, we're calling the whole event: SHE want's: MORE?!

Image Mr. DRUMSONIC — our drummer who plays a minimalist kit (no bass drum!) standing up, in a style that’s basically "caveman meets surf-beat."

KAZUKO KONO — the vocalist. She screams lyrics about illicit substances, body parts, and S/M dynamics, switching between Japanese and English, often rocking a Japanese schoolgirl uniform on stage.

Back in January 2005, Eva (who’s been teaching herself guitar for years) told her less-than-musical friend sunčan, "Hey, you should start playing so we can have a band!" Well, the next day, sunčan went out and bought a bass, and everything clicked. Despite having totally different tastes and styles, these two spent most of their time clashing and blending to create a musical hybrid of two different worlds: gritty rock n' roll with a punk attitude mixed with melodic, psycho details and a huge emotional range.
On June 2, 2008, Sara joined the crew, and they were ready to hit the stage at a local arts organization within a single week—which says a lot about her talent and drive! :-)
