Wednesday, July 9th:
It’s another scorching summer, and just like clockwork, things are starting to get a little too quiet. But hey, SHE has a band and she wants more action!!!
That pretty much sums it up. We aren't about to let the summer heat kill the vibe by letting live shows disappear, so we’ve decided to throw a little outdoor gig this Wednesday, July 9th. We'll be hanging out at the levee near the neighborhood (right in front of the water utility company, check the maps), and the music kicks off at 9 PM.
To support the ladies in music—who definitely need more spotlight—we’ve invited all-female bands and groups with female vocals. Because of that, we're calling the whole event: SHE want's: MORE?!

With this lineup, Kayla started their run back in the winter of 2006 when Strawberry and Zeljko joined forces with Max, Birch, and Eva to craft that signature Kayla sound. It’s something you really have to hear live to get! 🙂 We play what you might call melodic grunge-power-punk mayhem.

A total one-of-a-kind act on the indie scene—two freaks from Washington, D.C., paired with a screaming girl from Tokyo.
dodo EICHMANN — (formerly of The Babies and Erotic biljan and his Heretics), a guitarist who has long been the go-to name for high-voltage R&B riffs around here...
Image Mr. DRUMSONIC — our drummer who plays a minimalist kit (no bass drum!) standing up, in a style that’s basically "caveman meets surf-beat."
KAZUKO KONO — the vocalist. She screams lyrics about illicit substances, body parts, and S/M dynamics, switching between Japanese and English, often rocking a Japanese schoolgirl uniform on stage.

Back in January 2005, Eva (who’s been teaching herself guitar for years) told her less-than-musical friend sunčan, "Hey, you should start playing so we can have a band!" Well, the next day, sunčan went out and bought a bass, and everything clicked. Despite having totally different tastes and styles, these two spent most of their time clashing and blending to create a musical hybrid of two different worlds: gritty rock n' roll with a punk attitude mixed with melodic, psycho details and a huge emotional range.
On June 2, 2008, Sara joined the crew, and they were ready to hit the stage at a local arts organization within a single week—which says a lot about her talent and drive! :-)

After the bands wrap up, your favorite DJ Hellsonic will be spinning tracks for us all!
