I've actually had people message me about my listings for laptops and phones, offering way more than I even asked for! They use all sorts of different names, but they always claim to be calling from Nigeria. Just do some digging online and you'll see what's really going on. Their whole goal is just to get your personal info and lure you into a deal. My advice? Stick to selling domestically and try to do hand-to-hand pickups whenever possible. So, my answer is—it's definitely NOT safe.
Thanks so much for the reply! I didn't catch your post until just now. Best regards! 🙂

On top of that, it’s pretty much impossible to track this guy down. He’s likely just using a P.O. Box, especially since standard home delivery isn't really a thing in most African nations.
Thanks for the info, have a great day! 👍
Hi there.
I have a question similar to the one {{Johnny Cash}} posted recently. Basically, someone from far-off Nigeria (?) reached out regarding my laptop listing and is insisting we handle the transaction via cash on delivery.
Since I’ve never sold anything this way, I’m completely in the dark about how it works. I also took a look at your first post, but I couldn't find the specific details I'm looking for.
Mainly, I'm wondering: just how safe is this? Is there a real risk that neither the buyer sees the money nor do I get the laptop? Also, roughly how much would shipping cost me? Thanks!
