hollowseal33 said:That sign just means there’s a roundabout ahead, which implies you need to yield to the drivers already in the circle since they have the right of way 😢 🤔 😢 though I can't remember the last time I saw a roundabout that didn't come with its own specific priority markings and this one 😬

Personally, I get the feeling that sign is just letting you know you're approaching a roundabout without actually specifying who goes first.
Why else would they be putting up so many warning triangles lately? ☕ Unless they're trying to write some kind of modern Hemingway 🙂 🙂

Hey there. 😬

The only thing that really trips me up here is that specific sign. I mean, why don't you just ask Orange Guy if a roundabout actually takes precedence when it's just this one sign standing there without the warning triangle?

I honestly can't remember the last time I saw anything even remotely close to this in my entire life. 😬

And hey, it won't hurt my credibility one bit, because if anyone's right about this little anecdote, it’s definitely me. 😠 🙂 🙂 🙂

😘 🙂

You know exactly which band I’m talking about—you've got that link sitting right there at the bottom of the thread along with the full concert recording you downloaded! 🙂
Especially if I tell you that I’ve just stumbled upon a brand new connection. It turns out Tamara Boroš is going to be the one picking up the tab for our maps! 🥳

Carol Jackson45 said:So you’re heading toward a roundabout. You’re just cruising along, and then, right before you reach the intersection, you’re greeted by a sign looking exactly like this:

It looks like we’re actually on the same page here! 😘

The real crux of the matter is that until just a few years ago, approaching a roundabout didn't involve any yield triangles, and back in the day (I can't recall exactly when), there was this unspoken, implicit rule where the roundabout itself essentially held the right of way.

Basically, first they scrapped that old understanding, but they still hadn't put in the triangles, which created this chaotic new era where people felt entitled to just barrel into the circle at full speed.

Then later, by finally installing those yield signs, things were essentially reset to how they used to be, leaving both the old-school drivers and the newer crowd feeling satisfied.

But here’s the catch: without those specific triangles, a standard roundabout doesn't actually have an automatic right of way.

Carol Jackson45, pull up that link you sent me, the one with all those different triangle signs. Let’s just apply some basic logic here:

You've got the stop sign, which tells you plain and simple that you don't have the right of way.
Then there's the standard yield sign, which also means you aren't the priority.
And then you have the triangle with the circular arrow, which basically says "please let everyone already in the roundabout go before you even think about moving."

If none of those signs were standing there, we'd just be relying on the old right-hand rule. 🙂
In that case, you might actually be able to merge into the roundabout with the right of way. That's exactly the kind of scenario my driving instructor used to joke about back when I was learning.

Carol Jackson45 said:What kind of education are we even talking about here? Look, it’s simple. You see a yield sign. That triangle tells you one thing: you don't have the right of way, slow down, and let the people already moving finish their business. Why else would they bother putting yield signs on every single roundabout if they were trying to achieve the exact opposite?

Yeah, what a lovely little yield sign sitting there down on the left.

:cupakosuodmuke:

Once they changed the rules so that roundabouts don't automatically have priority, and then they went ahead and slapped those yield signs on the approaches:

🙂 Inside the circle, it's just: "Tra-la-laaa, look at me, I'm driving in circles and I own the entire damn road, wait a second, what is this 🙂 creeping in at a pathetic crawl "

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

The moment you install those yield signs, all you've done is create a mess by uniting two different groups: the ones who think they own the roundabout, and the ones who actually know they don't. ☕

I wasn't entirely sure, honestly 😉 but fine, here you go:

Besides that, instead of actually thanking me for the education, you're really going to nitpick over this? 😕 🙂

They only put up those triangles because they finally realized they can't just erase the mindset of everyone who learned to drive before the laws changed, right? Honestly, don't make me look even more foolish than I already feel.

Honestly, table tennis has been five times more engaging ever since they switched the sets to eleven; you aren't just stuck sitting there watching players coast through those endless deuce battles toward ten anymore.🙂

Carol Jackson45 said:Really? Is that all there is to it? 😈

Wait, isn't the rule that whoever is already inside the roundabout has the right of way? If that's actually how it works, then wouldn't everything be completely backwards, considering people are coming at you from the right? 😛

Not exactly. They actually went out of their way to point that specific thing out to us, which is why it sticks in my mind. I suppose that used to be the standard rule back in the day, but it feels like they just stopped enforcing it or let it slide into obsolescence. Who knows? Things change.

You know, if you take a good look around lately, you’ll notice that for the last couple of years, they’ve been slapping these flashy little triangles on the approaches to pretty much every single roundabout out there. It’s become a bit of a pattern, hasn't it?

A lecturer once shared this little anecdote with us about how, just a few years back, people would basically charge headfirst into the turbine rotors at a site over in Brooklyn like they were shopping on eBay. They’d dive right in just to score a decent settlement and finally get rid of some useless scrap metal. It was all driven by this mindset among the crews already working there—they were convinced they had the upper hand, so why not take the shot? 🙂

Honestly, if I could just tell you exactly what I’m thinking right now, I probably would. 😠 He really shouldn't have been allowed to tear that down. 🙂 Is there anyone actually out there? Seriously, is anybody even listening? 😬

Well, that’s actually spot on! 😕

Anyway, nothing but total respect for you, your friend from Bad Seed, and everyone else dealing with those fender benders. 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

Here is the top list of things the inner globalist in me is practically begging for:

OP OP! I really respect that people actually bother to learn the lyrics, even if they spent years dragging the man through the mud. 👍

I’d give everyone here three points just for being able to watch TV without losing their minds:

The absolute highlight of my current study session:

Code:
int val = ae.getValue();

Does anyone actually understand what `ae` is supposed to be doing here? Is that value even valid? 🙂
