Just hit the Start button and find the "Search programs and files" box. Type in "winver" (no quotes needed!) and smash 🙂

Microsoft says this beta runs through August, and then it’s gonna start shutting down every couple of hours—total nightmare! Is there some kind of workaround or a "crack" to fix this? I really don't want my setup crashing again since everything is running perfectly right now—plus, I've got so many apps and custom settings dialed in...

EDIT:
Once the full version hits the torrent sites (😁), can I actually turn on automatic updates? Back when I was using Windows XP, I knew how to dodge that annoying pop-up telling you you're using pirated software. But with Windows 7, I'm clueless—so if anyone knows the trick, please let me know! 🙂

I’ve actually ditched Daemon Tools for Virtual CloneDrive—honestly, I think it’s way better than Daemon. Just my two cents! 🙂 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=...a%C5%BEi&meta=

I'm asking because if I turn this on and Microsoft realizes I've got a pirate copy, are they gonna totally wreck my Windows?

Anyone got a clue what the retail price tag will look like when the final version hits the shelves?

Also—quick question! If I'm grabbing Windows from a torrent, should I actually turn on automatic updates or nah...? I always used to dodge those auto-updates back on Windows XP. Can someone fill me in on the details? Thanks!

@Taylor Campbell4/">@@Taylor Campbell4, my rig is basically a total torrent beast—mostly just used for P2P stuff. Honestly, I've never, ever run into an issue before! This is the first time I'm even hearing about 🙂

I totally get what you mean 😉. I’ve spent way too much time dragging my taskbar all over the place—stretching it, shrinking it, just messing around with it. Mine never turned all blurry like yours did, though. Honestly, not much else to say besides: hang in there until the full update drops, and until then... might as well enjoy playing around with these bugs 🙂

Edit: Here’s how fast I can rip files from a DVD to my hard drive:

I was messing around moving the taskbar all over the place, then snapped it back, and everything works perfectly fine 🙂. Honestly, I’m blown away by how rock-solid this is—like, seriously, in a good way! Windows 7 actually feels more stable than Windows XP to me; I can't even remember the last time I saw a "not Responding" screen on Windows 7. All these beta versions have been such a blast and everyone seems stoked about them. But man, once the final version drops, it’s going to be legendary. For now, though, I’m keeping a dual boot with XP just in case things go sideways.

I had some issues with those earlier builds and was basically like, "Ugh, just more unstable junk from Microsoft." But as the builds kept coming out, I got more and more impressed. Now? I’m so happy with it that my main OS is 🙂
.
Which build are you running? How many times have you had to reboot? I’ve got the RC, build 7100, straight from Microsoft. If you grabbed yours from a torrent, you might have stumbled onto a fake.

I've been rocking Windows 7 as my main OS for weeks now, and honestly? Haven't run into any glitches at all—everything's running super smooth! Not sure why you're hitting so many walls, though...

Robert Bishop7 said:Wait, so you mean I can just toss in XP, wipe everything with it, and then install 7???????

Well, yeah! Even when you're installing Windows 7, there's a built-in option to ☕FORMAT
anyway!

I grabbed both the x86 and x64 versions—got them burned to DVDs and I'm definitely gonna test 'em out tonight! 🙂

Honestly, I think Windows 7 is way more stable than Windows XP. I don't even bother booting up XP anymore—it just drives me crazy! xD Still got it on a separate partition, though, just in case...

I tried getting Counter-Strike: Source up and running, but it keeps throwing some compatibility error at me—who knows what's up with that... I'm still just rocking Windows XP for everything right now! 🙂

Edit: But hey, looking back at that link, it actually says CSS works fine on Windows 7 🙄

I’m running build 7106 right now—any major dealbreakers between 7106 and 7100? Don't wanna go through the hassle of an update if there's nothing big to gain...

Is it just me, or does my torrenting feel way slower on Windows 7 compared to how snappy it was on Windows XP? 🙄

I've been running this setup for a few days now and honestly? I'm loving it! I set up a dual-boot with Windows XP and Windows 7, though—if I'm being real—I can't even remember the last time I actually booted into XP 🙂

So far, everything I've installed is running smooth as butter. Just haven't dove into my game library yet—fingers crossed they all run perfectly 🙄

Yo guys, just finished installing Windows 7 build 7106 today and man, I am seriously loving it! I honestly couldn't wait for the official release—had to get my hands on it early to see what the hype was about... Can't wait for the final version to drop.

If you're still rocking XP, do yourself a favor ---> make the jump to Windows 7. You'll definitely feel the difference 😉 (in a good way, obviously 😁)

Why is everyone trashing Windows ME 😁? Honestly—personal experience here—it was total garbage 😁

@Scott Ramirez2/">@@Scott Ramirez2, I haven't broken my old PC in over a year—haven't caught a single virus or any junk at all... Just watch what sites you visit, be careful about what you install, keep a solid antivirus running, and you'll be golden! 😉
My dad bought his rig right when Windows with SP1 first dropped, went straight to it, and he hasn't caught anything since. Honestly, I don't get how he does it, but hey 🤣

About two months ago, I was totally tearing up my computer (installing everything under the sun, hitting every random site...) and yeah, obviously I caught some viruses. Last time I reinstalled Windows was about a month and a half ago. Now, I'm super careful about where I click and what I download, so no issues at all. I'm running some pirated Windows XP sp3

I thought about trying Windows Vista, but nah... I've got a beast of a machine, but I'm staying loyal to XP until it just stops working on me 👍
