that's a total fake!!
If you want to see what people actually think about this stuff, just go ask someone over on this forum and they'll tell you straight—that specific build was never even a thing. It basically doesn't exist. 😉

James Torres6 said:What's the deal with the IP address settings on Windows 7? I've got Xfinity broadband running, but the internet just won't connect. Everything works perfectly fine on my old XP machine using an automatic IP... how do I get this set up? Any help?😕

just try turning off the firewall for a second... though honestly, you might be dealing with an ancient chipset where the network drivers didn't even install right in the first place. If killing the firewall doesn't do the trick, try hunting down the original manufacturer drivers and installing those instead!!

Robert Bishop7 said:Wait, so you're telling me I can just throw XP on there, wipe the drive with it, and then swap in Windows 7 right after? Is that actually how it works?

Yeah, you totally can! It’s pretty straightforward—it’s basically like starting an XP install, and once it finishes wiping the drive, you just pop out the disc, shove the Windows 7 one in, and give the machine a quick reboot. Then you're good to go.

And if you want to be extra thorough, here’s the link for that hard drive wiping software. Just a heads-up though, if you aren't really a power user, maybe don't dive in headfirst without doing a little digging on Google first to see what it actually does. You definitely want to know how to handle it before you run it.

Look, you aren't going to pull off an installation that way, man. You’ve gotta wipe the drive clean before you even think about popping that DVD in to boot from it and start the install process. If you happen to have a Windows XP setup lying around, you can just run that to get it done. If not, I could probably hook you up with some utility to reformat the hard drive, but there's a catch—that kind of software just goes scorched earth on everything it finds on any connected drives, so you really need to back up your files somewhere else first if you don't want them gone forever.

I mean, honestly, if you're just stepping onto the scene without knowing how things actually work, you're basically flying blind, and it’s kind of hilarious to watch people try to wing it when they clearly haven't done the legwork yet. wiredtrucker89 says:
I mean, honestly, what's even the big deal with just overclocking straight from the Earth? It’s not like anyone's actually doing things by the book anymore, you know? I don't get why people make such a massive production out of it when you can just jump right in there and tweak the settings without all the extra steps. It feels like one of those things where everyone acts like there's some huge, hidden danger, but if you know what you're doing, it's basically just a little bit of fun with your hardware. Just a thought, really.☕

So I’ve actually been overclocking straight from the Earth settings, which is wild, but I finally figured out what was messing everything up. It turns out I had that Silent and Calm setting toggled on in the Earth menu, so the processor was just constantly throttling its own frequency like it was trying to save pennies. Total facepalm moment.

nimblemaker52 said:Man, if you had just laid it out like that in the first post, we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now.

I mean, honestly, I haven't the slightest clue, so just go ahead and Google it. 😬 Honestly, CPU-Z is probably just tripping and giving you the wrong info anyway.

Finally got it sorted out! 😁 😁

I don't know, man, I just feel like everyone is constantly rushing to some finish line that doesn't even exist, you know? It’s like we’re all sprinting through a marathon where the track just keeps getting longer and more exhausting, and honestly, I’m just over it. I was sitting there thinking about how much energy we waste trying to stay ahead of things that don't actually matter, and it’s kind of wild when you really sit with it. People act like if they aren't moving at a hundred miles an hour, they're failing, but I think there's something to be said for just... existing without all the noise. Anyway, just some thoughts rattling around my head while I was staring out the window today. Not that anyone asked, but whatever. wiredtrucker89 says:
Hold on a second... walk me through this again. I’m in the middle of formatting the drive—should I be going with a standard format C or what? And does that option actually include a clean disk wipe? I tried booting from it earlier, but the whole thing just hangs; it sits there staring at me, doing absolutely nothing. I know we've got some real experts in here, and even if you're just some casual user who knows a thing or two, I'll take it. Honestly, I'm just grateful for any help or advice anyone can throw my way.

Whoa, hold up a second!! How many actual drives are you running in that rig? I'm trying to figure out if you're just rocking one single HDD split into two logical partitions, or if you've actually got two physically separate hard drives sitting in there. 😁 😁

Robert Bishop7 said:I spent about two months messing around with the beta version and honestly, it’s been great... I can actually run some games now that wouldn't even budge before... but now I'm trying to swap out this beta for the RC release and everything is just hitting a wall... if anyone actually knows the right way to pull this off, could you let me know how? Much appreciated... do I need to wipe things and start from Windows XP or Vista first and then go straight to the RC, or what's the deal? 👍🙏🙏🤷🤷

Just format the drive and do a clean Install!! Just make sure you move all your files over to an external drive or a thumb drive first!! 😉

Oh, I totally get what you mean! But here’s the thing—it’s locked at x11 on this side, even though it's reporting an x5 multiplier right here! It's driving me nuts. I’ve got a dual boot setup with Windows XP, and whenever I fire up XP, it actually shows me the real deal. We're talking a true 2640MHz!!

I was wondering if anyone here has messed around with overclocking while running Windows 7 and what kind of numbers you actually see popping up in CPU-Z?

On my end, it isn't showing the actual speed in Intel. I can't tell if this is just some weird bug with CPU-Z or if I'm missing some setting somewhere that needs tweaking.
Here’s a shot of the screen!! If you look at the Intel, that part seems right, but the multiplier is totally off since I've got it set to x11 in the BIOS.

The clock is sitting at 2.21GHz instead of 2.64GHz.

Grace Morris6 said:Hey everyone, I'm new here and I've run into a bit of a wall—I can't get any mounting software to work because nothing seems compatible with my Windows 7 Ultimate 64. 🙏I tried Daemon Tools 4 and Magic ISO, but no luck. Anyone know a fix?

Daemon Tools 4 works just fine on Windows 7 http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home

It works perfectly for me.

Anyway, if anyone happened to grab today's RC...

Could you let me know which build version this actually is?

Because I downloaded 7100 last week, or whenever that was, and everyone was saying that was the RC...

But I have a feeling this one is even newer, plus I see it's got XP mode.

😁😁That's the exact same build you grabbed a week ago! It's 7100!! That's the one we all grabbed off the torrents.

Drew Garcia said:So, regarding that key I got with Windows 7, how long is it valid for before the final version drops, or what's the deal? And can I still run the weekly updates normally with it?

Every single test build except for 7000 stays active until March 2, 2010. So that goes for this RC too!! And yeah, you can run updates just fine.

electricowl11 said:7077 is actually newer than 7106 and 7100...

hahahahah LOLOL.. I mean, ROFLMAO, I honestly can't stop laughing at everything I just read here! Just pure, unadulterated nonsense.

The idea that 7077 is newer than 7106 is actually true, mostly because 7106 is just some random guy's repackage where he took build 7068 and renamed it to 7106, so that specific 7106 build from Microsoft doesn't even exist. It never did, and it never will.

7100 is the absolute latest build that leaked about ten days ago, and I've had my hands on it for a week now!! And if you want to know how the builds actually rolled out while I was testing them, it went like this:
6801, 6956, 7000, 7003, 7004, 7012, 7015, 7016, 7025, 7048, 7057, 7068, 7077, 7100

The next build, specifically the one hitting the Microsoft.com pages in three days—on the 5th—is gonna be labeled 7115!!
