Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Terry Booth45 said:Listen, man, what are you even talking about with these viruses? It’s been verified multiple times that Everest is completely clean on that site. Get your facts straight. You're running a 32-bit version of Windows, but your processor is 100% 64-bit. Period.

There’s been a misunderstanding here. A Pentium 4 at 3.0 GHz definitely isn't 64-bit.😉

That is simply not going to happen.

I didn't install it on a fresh drive before trying the upgrade... that works, but this error is screwing me over right now. I'll try burning the ISO again, and if that fails, I'll just download it all over again (I have a 10GB data plan, so I'll only do that if I have absolutely no other choice).
Thanks for the advice.

Regards!

Hey!
Here I am again... I start the Windows installation process, and right in the middle of copying the system files—the very first step—it hits 70% and then this message pops up:

Sure I can, but my goal is to format the C drive where Windows XP is currently running, and that’s impossible doing it this way... does anyone actually have an answer to my previous question?

Since that’s shareware priced at $30, did you actually bother checking their site for trial limitations before you started burning everything? I'm just asking. 🤔

I downloaded Nero Burning ROM, put it on a DVD-R, and then burned a Windows 7 installation I had unpacked onto a DVD-RW using this program's "burn disc image" feature. It won't boot. The computer recognizes the disc just fine, but it refuses to boot from it. Where is the problem?😕

First, you grab a tiny torrent file, open it in a client, and start downloading the actual ISO image directly to your desktop. Am I right?

Once that download finishes, you take that ISO from your desktop and burn it straight to a DVD—using something like Nero—without ever opening it or trying to unpack any files inside.

Yeah, yeah, I get all that. I tried creating the ISO file again using ImgBurn afterwards, but it’s not working for me. That's what I'm asking! Why isn't it working? Stop beating around the bush.

I didn't quite catch your point about doing things "first" and "then." You need to burn that ISO image you downloaded from the web onto a DVD.

I wasn't being clear. This was the message:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key." As for burning a regular DVD, I meant standard burning. I unpacked the ISO image I downloaded and then burned the files directly onto the DVD.

Hey there!
I've got a major problem. Windows won't boot from the DVD. I burned the ISO file and configured everything perfectly in the BIOS, but absolutely nothing happens. Just to be safe, I disabled everything except for the DVD-ROM boot option, but then it just throws an error saying no hardware was detected... I have no idea what the issue is. First, I tried burning a standard DVD, then I tried the ISO, but both were total failures. The system recognizes the media itself, though.

Does your rig have enough juice to jump from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7? How old is it? What's the CPU and memory situation?

My machine isn't exactly in its prime. It's a Pentium 4 3.0 Nvidia Gf 7600 GS DDR2 2 GB... I'm obviously planning to install the 32-bit version, and as for age, it's going on its third year now.

I know that. But that isn't what I asked. I don't want to format if I don't have to.

Hey there!
I’m planning on installing Windows 7. Right now I'm running Windows XP SP3. Is there going to be any trouble if I just perform an upgrade? Will everything actually work normally?

Thanks

Hey there!
I’m planning on installing Windows 7, but I really don't feel like reformatting my partitions—specifically my C: drive where my current XP is sitting. Will it be an issue if I just perform an upgrade instead? Right now I'm running XP SP3 (and it isn't even an original copy). Will
my current programs actually work, and am I going to run into driver headaches since everything supposedly downloads automatically these days?

Thanks
