Windows 7 in Software ·
Hey,
I just finished a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on my Acer machine—it's a Quad-Core 2.4, 4GB RAM, with an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS. Windows 7 handled everything perfectly; it even found and wiped out that hidden Acer recovery partition, then went ahead and installed all the drivers for my USB gear (camera, printer, etc.). It’s running flawlessly. Everything feels way faster now. On my hard drive, Windows 7 is taking up about 9GB.
Finally, I can say goodbye to that Windows Vista garbage—it was nowhere near ready for prime time.

Hey,

I have my C: partition...
PHP Code:
[ICODE][COLOR=#000000] [COLOR=#0000BB]hidden partition [/COLOR][/COLOR][/ICODE]

and D:
D: doesn't really matter here—the issue is how to format a partition you can't even see.

Hey,
I’ve got this old Dell Inspiron with a Quad Core running Windows Vista Home—which, honestly, is probably the biggest pile of junk Microsoft has ever released. I've dealt with Vista freezing for no damn reason so many times now that I'm just completely over it. I want to install Windows 7 instead. I already picked up a Windows 7 DVD that has all the OEM versions on it, though it's the NL version.
It looks like Acer built in a hidden partition to stash their recovery files, so if the system crashes, you're supposed to just pop in the Acer Recovery DVD to reinstall Windows Vista Home. But whenever I try to boot from my Windows XP drive, it just keeps nagging me for the Acer Recovery DVD.
How do I get rid of that hidden partition and wipe all this Acer junk clean? If I can clear it out, I'm hoping the Windows 7 installation will actually work—I'm planning on doing the exact same thing to my laptop later.
thanks in advance
