Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Taylor Morales31 said:So, what does the description on the right actually say it is?

I've got searchindexer running, but that's definitely not it—

It says Microsoft Windows search filter Host.

What exactly is Windows search filter Host? Every few days, it just pops up in my process list and starts eating up an entire CPU core—hitting 95% or higher. I have no clue what it’s actually doing or why it triggers out of nowhere. What's its purpose? Should I just kill the process when it starts acting up? It usually happens while I'm either sitting idle or just browsing the web.

I know how you can do this in Chrome, but it won't be pinned directly to the taskbar—it’ll be pinned to the Chrome icon instead—so you'll have to right-click the Chrome icon to find the link to the site. Just drag the little icon from between the home button and the address bar down to the taskbar.

Just wondering—would Windows 7 actually run on a 1.5 GHz processor with only 512 MB of RAM?
It's a laptop we're talking about—obviously.

I’d do it. That's exactly why I'm talking to you. 🙂
But then you're left without any of the bells and whistles—like Aero, for instance.something And all that other nonsense Windows 7 drags along—stuff that's basically just wasted resources even if you're running a high-end rig.
My RAM usage is constantly sitting north of 80%—it's just always pinned like that.

I’ve got a bit of a headache here—might just be some weirdness from this past week. I can't get www.wolframalpha.com to load at all through Firefox or Chroma. The only way it works is if I go straight to my Computer and type the URL into the address bar—then suddenly Firefox behaves. How do I fix this? Everything worked perfectly fine back on XP.

The lack of Quick Launch drives me nuts too!
I slapped it onto a beat-up Dell Inspiron 3000—just 512MB of RAM and an Intel Celeron. It actually runs great, maybe even a hair faster than my old Windows XP. Programs pop open pretty snappy.
By the way, is MSN supposed to stay stuck in the taskbar even after I hit the X? It should just tuck away into the system tray in the bottom right corner, but it stays glued to the bar. Is that just how it works?
