Windows 7

1. Pop a bootable Windows 7 disc into your DVD-ROM (obviously, make sure you set the boot priority to
DVD-ROM in the BIOS)
2. When it asks if you want to boot from the DVD, hit YES.
3. Pick your installation language.
4. Set your regional settings—use US English (for dollars,
months, etc.).
5. If this is a fresh Windows 7 install over existing Windows, you gotta
DELETE the partition where the old OS lived, then format that
partition before starting the clean Windows install.
Don't bother entering the serial key yet (that 5x5 block).
6. Just be patient for about 15-20 minutes (depends on how fast your rig is).
7. I think we aren't supposed to talk about loaders on this forum.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I tried my best to follow everything during the install, but I don't think it gave me the option to format the partition like it did back with Windows XP. Is just wiping the old files off the drive enough? I didn't see any of the old programs showing up in the Control Panel list under installed programs, so maybe it worked. Thanks.
