Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·

Cool, thanks for the reply.👍

I didn't do it like you would with Windows XP, where you just format through the BIOS and install onto a totally clean partition. I went through the DVD and chose custom installation, so it wasn't really a clean install, more like an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7... anyway, everything seems to be working fine, I guess. Even Microsoft's website has instructions saying you can do it this way. But yeah, I still have that old folder, or that part of the partition from the old OS. Theoretically nothing was deleted—everything is still there from when I had xpu, except obviously the programs aren't installed anymore.

So, I just realized I’ve got about 50GB of junk sitting on my C: drive from back when I was running Windows XP ==> (Windows Old). I've got Windows 7 installed now, so I was wondering if I can just delete that folder without everything blowing up? I don't really need those old files anymore, I guess...

Is your modem hooked up via Ethernet or a USB cable? If it's Ethernet, I managed to switch mine over to router mode, which helped... I used wizard 2009 because when I went into Control Panel > Add Hardware, nothing showed up. No device manager entries, no drivers, nothing—it was like the Ethernet controller didn't even exist on the system. But through wizard 2009, I spotted that it was a Realtek GBE Family Controller. So, I just typed "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller driver download" into Google, grabbed the driver, installed it, and suddenly everything just worked...😁

I went back to XP and my internet works perfectly there... so now I don't know. Do I maybe need to install an antivirus first so it'll let me connect? Like, if it's being super strict and constantly throwing warnings at me? Or whatever... does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?[/QUOT

I ran into something pretty similar once, until I realized my ethernet controller drivers were totally messed up. On XP, I never really had to hunt down drivers; I could usually get the internet running in like five minutes flat. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with 7. I don't see myself ever moving to 8. 😍

I’m thinking about picking up an Ultimate Retail version from someone on a forum, so I was wondering... should I go with the 32-bit or the 64-bit version? Maybe one is better than the other, I guess.
