restlesssurfer97 said:Look, man, don't even try to say it's easy, judging games is tough, seriously, because if officiating were actually simple, some random idiot wouldn't be standing in an offside position every single damn time, and honestly, if you look at how the rules used to work back in the day, even Lionel Messi would have been flagged for scoring a goal from a totally clear offside position one of these days, I mean the kid was basically caught in a double offside situation once or something like that, it's just how it goes.
restlesssurfer97 said:Man, I'm telling you, it's so obvious that they're calling offsides when it's clearly not even an issue half the time, like there isn't anyone even in an offside position anymore 😂
restlesssurfer97 said:Man, looking at this whole forum, you see like two posts and you're probably already thinking the entire place has gone completely bust 😂

trivia night?
Larry Fox5 said:The real issue is that we’re basically living in the Matrix. People have access to all this info to form an opinion, but at the end of the day—nobody actually knows if what they're reading is legit or just pure manipulation...
This whole illusion that our own judgment matters? It leads us straight into a massive trap—where we take our own biased, manipulated thoughts and treat them like some ultimate truth.
And honestly, all these debates and perspectives just boil down to "pro vs. con," where we're just hunting for people who agree with us or picking fights with anyone we bump into who doesn't.

Why even watch soccer if I can't troll around? What's the point? 🤣 But seriously, I'm being for real now. For any true troll, this is a death sentence. I knew I had a legitimate reason for posting on these forums, I just couldn't break through that last barrier. I was being too objective and constructive, totally shutting out my own feelings and how this affects us—whatever "us" even means (honestly, who picks these usernames?). Now, because I fell victim to being "constructive," it's too late to fix anything. 😢
Jessica Gonzalez said:That sounds good in theory, and I think I see where you're coming from, but the direction we're heading isn't just about refereeing. Technology itself is creeping into the sport at every level, and it feels like it's stripping the soul out of the game. I really mean that. I once heard a CEO from a major tech firm explain how they want to cover stadiums with antennas so fans have perfect connectivity everywhere, claiming a virtual experience is just as vital as being there in person. It's like they want us watching the game while simultaneously scrolling through our phones to check stats or posting selfies at Yankee Stadium. They market these 4K broadcasts just so I can watch a player struggle with basic ball control in high definition on my new Samsung TV. In the States, they're installing artificial turf in most stadiums and arenas just so they don't have to deal with mud or rain during a match. I guess it just makes everything feel so monotonous, like every single game starts looking identical. We have these 3D slow-motion cameras now that allow commentators to argue about how a striker's nose was 15 centimeters ahead of the last defender, without anyone actually questioning if the rule even makes sense anymore. Back in the day, tickets were affordable, but now for a standard seat at Madison Square Garden, you practically have to shell out $167. And then someone tells me FIFA has to adopt this tech just to keep up with the times, like the NFL or other similar trends. Soccer has been played for 150 years—in various forms for centuries, even millennia—and now it's supposedly facing extinction if we don't implement some 3D video algorithm for offsides? I don't really buy that, especially when it seems driven by television interests. Everything seems designed for TV ratings and profit. You don't see goal-line technology in local recreational leagues, and they aren't using 3D sensors to measure inches, yet that "old school" version of the game is still played all over the world.
Jessica Gonzalez said:The world isn't perfect, and soccer definitely isn't either. I guess any attempt to sell perfection is just a lie. Soccer filled stadiums long before television was even a thing, and it stays popular because of the game itself, not because of whether the officiating is perfectly accurate or not.
Jessica Gonzalez said:I think it's really about the focus and the overall direction things are heading. It feels like the emphasis is shifting toward style over substance. Officiating seems to have become this massive secondary distraction rather than being the core of the game. Even at the local park level, people just play without refs. It's almost like the big stadiums too, where billions of dollars are poured into infrastructure for a sport that probably doesn't actually require that kind of scale.
