I mean, is there anyone else out there who actually digs this vibe? This is easily some of the best male vocals 😁
Yeah, though I probably need a drink first. Where did you even find this? It sounds just like something playing on local community radio in the Midwest. 🤦
Hey there! 🙂
(It felt like everyone was complaining about Dell right when I was looking at laptops... and HP too.)
I mean, obviously, if you pay more, you're generally getting better quality, but if I'm just heading down to the corner store every single day to grab some lettuce and a loaf of bread, do I really need a Ferrari, or would a Ford get the job done just fine? You know what I mean? My little machine isn't meant for showing off to the neighbors to prove I've made it; they wouldn't even understand the difference anyway. My kid, Peter, says it works like a charm and it’s plenty good enough for me. Though, he's constantly nagging me to make sure I back everything up.
That link you shared is actually super helpful; I managed to find a few models that look like a great fit. Thanks again!
haha, you're a riot, Angela Long62! 🙂
Are you seriously suggesting Verbatim to me? I guess I’m just not that well-versed in all these hardware manufacturers yet; it takes a while, I suppose, to figure out that the most heavily advertised stuff isn't always the best... I think I read somewhere that Seagate is a solid company, but honestly, I have no clue, and they seem a bit pricey to me, if I'm being real.
p.s. I was browsing some forums and saw people talking about how folks buy computers that cost more than an average monthly salary just based on color. Tech forums are absolutely flooded with complaints about those high-end brands, though I don't think that actually matters. That's why I love messing around with that whole idea.
Thanks, darkowl72, I’ll take a look at those RGB drives, though I can't really promise I'll actually buy one if it might offend my setup—it's just a little Lenovo ThinkPad... and well, you know how those things look... 🙂
I have eSATA. Of course I have it. Dammit. I have everything. It's just the common sense I'm lacking.
Hey everyone!
I need to pick up an external drive to handle my backups and store all my movies and music—looking for at least 500 GB, though honestly, more is probably better. I’m sitting at about 230 GB of random files right now, and I know that's going to balloon pretty quickly, so I’m feeling totally lost on what I should actually be looking for.
I don't really care if it's portable or not; I mean, sure, those sleek, colorful cases look great on my desk, but I guess I'm willing to give that up😢.
The main thing is that it needs to be reliable, shouldn't break the bank, and most importantly, it needs to make my laptop stop nagging me with those constant "no backup detected" warnings.
There is just such a massive jungle of options out there that I feel like I've managed to get confused five different times already. I did find this little Seagate Expansion 640 GB model, but apparently, it uses a USB interface, and now some guy is telling me that transferring data over that is going to be painfully slow.
So, what am I supposed to do now?
🤷
I feel like such an idiot for being so damn sure this kid was going to stick around until the end, so I didn't bother sending any texts. And honestly, I have to admit, I was being pretty stingy too....
That little prodigy who sings incredibly well and plays both the violin and piano—I think I read somewhere online that she does all that. I mean, maybe one day I'll actually get around to buying her a CD just to show that we actually have real talent here in the States, and it's not just some foreign imports! Yeah, I agree, especially alongside Natalie and a few others.
But that doesn't change the fact that she still needs to hit the books; the year is winding down and college is right around the corner... So, I guess the whole point of this forum is to make sure she doesn't sink her ship! It’s not meant to be about kicking her out of school or anything like that, you know?
Yeah. And I only wrote it because my kid reads these forums anyway. Might as well let them read. 🙂
I really hope they stick with music (and school! and college too!) so that in maybe ten years, they’ll be a legitimate singer—someone with actual talent and experience who's actually a joy to listen to. It shouldn't just be about having a "voice"—because, honestly, I can belt out a tune in the shower and stay on key myself!—but about having that certain "something." But hey, she's just a little kid right now.
And yeah, I'm still taking the compliments. 🙂 The more, the merrier!
Honestly, I barely even touch the TV unless there’s a movie on or some news breaking, and even then, it’s pretty rare. But I have to say, these little pop stars really did blow me away, even if they are forced to sing some absolutely terrible stuff.
And that one girl with her whole half-whispering, half-screaming, half-mumbling... man, she is just incredible.
(I honestly don't know what you guys were thinking with those karaoke clips, since I’ve never actually done anything like that—I pretty much loathe "live music," weddings, clubs, and all that nonsense. So, please forgive me if I can't exactly keep up with the conversation.)
I see kids are lurking on forums these days, so here’s a little something for my Nike, since they kicked her off, of course. I noticed there’s already a thread about this whole "show" titled "trash," but I refuse to let my Nike be lumped in with any of that garbage.
At first, I didn't really feel like following these kids' performances; honestly, I felt just as awkward watching them as they probably felt performing. But once little Nike said she "wasn't planning on shaking in her boots from fear of failing," you had me right then and there.
And man, did she keep me hooked! My Nike, you sing so beautifully! You have the voice of a real Lady Gaga. Gosh, it’s going to be so incredible when I finally get to hear you at a concert! I can just picture myself dressing up, sitting in the dark, and just soaking it all in. Honestly, you even managed to elevate Madonna, which—if you ask me—is no easy feat.
Regardless of all those mindless comments about her legs, regardless of the even more pointless repertoire in this last episode, and regardless of the entire tone of this show—good grief, that girl can sing! I keep telling myself that.
When I saw that they had actually sent Nike home, I felt a little relieved, mostly because I won't be stuck at home on Friday nights waiting to watch TV anymore. There’s just no point.
Malachi, go fix those grades in school now, and then over the summer, go out and sing somewhere, even if it's just a little bit, so I have somewhere to travel to; otherwise, I'll be constantly playing Dido, Macy Gray, and people like that, and even this sad country needs some actual singers.
Ha, ha, I’m not going to be throwing Medyas on stage or anything, but I will be searching for you everywhere—online, in Dallas, through every music site, and at every concert.
So, yeah.
That’s what you get with internet forums, little coastalrider94, since you clearly care what the masses think! Hang in there. Don't let them get to you. And just sing, the way only you know how.
And don't be sad. You aren't the type for mass hysteria; you're a voice that true connoisseurs appreciate. People like me.
Thank you, Nicholas. Truly, thank you so much!
