When I bought my laptop, it came with Vista, but honestly, I'm always at the local internet cafe
using XP instead.
My advice? Stick with XP.
I read somewhere on this forum that Vista is basically still a baby
while XP is fully grown. And trust me, there's truth to that. Vista looks nicer, sure, but XP is just easier and faster.
I'd recommend getting XP but skinning it to look like Vista (which you can totally do)—that way you stay trendy while easing into the idea of Vista, since its time is coming and XP will hang on for a bit longer.

The folks behind Napster are actually still part of the LimeWire open source community, they just bumped heads over some direction they wanted to take. Apps like Napster are basically where people upload their own stuff (music, movies...) to swap over the web, and it's free. I mean, you pay for the connection, but the files themselves don't cost a dime.

You don't even really need websites if you've got something like Napster. Just a heads up though, it can be sketchy:
-some files you're looking for might show up as tiny, like 0.35kb—those are definitely viruses, so if you aren't careful, you'll wreck your computer pretty fast.

Yep, exactly—I've got unlimited data through Comcast.
So, am I supposed to move all my movies and music over to Napster? Or can I just leave them where they are and let everyone else just grab whatever they want from my collection... or what?

Most of those apps just dump everything into one folder, then you can pretty much do whatever you want with them.

I use Napster myself—it’s alright, I guess—but you definitely gotta watch what you're downloading.

If I'm following you, I don't need to pay extra since my data is unlimited... it's more like my Universal Product Code stuff should be billed alongside my other data downloads (like movies). Unless, of course, I signed up for some specific deal from a music site where they charge me per track. Am I getting that right?

using Napster, and honestly, I pretty much loved it.
Then I heard there’s also this thing called Frost.
Any chance you guys could tell me which one is better?
Or maybe suggest something else entirely.
Also, does anyone know if downloading all this stuff is actually free?
Like, am I gonna get hit with some crazy unexpected bill for downloading things?

Is it possible to grab something from Napster and just move it into a folder on my macOS, then burn it onto a CD or DVD later?
