Listen, there is a simple little trick you can use... wrap the filename you are hunting for in quotation marks, just like when you are performing an exact phrase search on Google. For example: "filename.jpg"

The older, free versions of the software used to include several additional features, but those have since been moved exclusively to the paid version.

It isn't merely a matter of how the data is processed... quite simply, I am profoundly dissatisfied with the manner in which it presents its search results.

I am far from impressed with the search functionality integrated into Windows 7. It is fundamentally lacking. Consequently, I have replaced it with an alternative application, Google Desktop Search. The performance is significantly faster, and the indexing occurs continuously and unobtrusively in the background—specifically during idle periods when no other programs are active, ensuring there is absolutely no impact on system performance (though one can initiate it manually if necessary, which is rarely required). It allows for searching by both filename and file content as needed, yielding much more precise results. One simply needs to adjust the initial configuration slightly, as not all directories—such as the Windows folder—are included by default. In short, I highly recommend giving it a try.

In that case, simply disregard the warning. As I have previously stated, that specific issue only applies to the scenario I described. I have had ESS installed for a week now and haven't encountered a single problem.
Furthermore, regardless of which version of Windows you are running, do not attempt to upgrade McAfee from version 3 to version 4; instead, download version 4 directly and install it from scratch.

This applies exclusively to scenarios where an upgrade was performed from Windows Vista to Seven, specifically in cases where McAfee Total Protection was already installed on the Vista system prior to the upgrade.

When performing a clean installation of Windows 7, there are absolutely no issues whatsoever.

You seem hell-bent on trying to install Windows 7 directly from within Windows XP, essentially attempting an in-place upgrade from XP to Windows 7...

That simply isn't possible.
