Peeling skin on my feet?
in Health ·
I’ve got a pretty similar situation going on. Every single summer, about two weeks after I hit the beach for the first time, the skin on my entire sole starts peeling off. It’s been happening since I was a kid, honestly. The only thing that actually helps is using some Neutrogena hand cream and making sure I don't walk barefoot on rocks or anything. Before I started using that cream, once the top layer peeled, the raw skin underneath would start flaking too, and I'd end up with these nasty, painful cracks that go deep into the flesh. A few summers where I skipped the beach entirely, and the whole thing just didn't happen.
I’m basically wearing sneakers all the time anyway, so I doubt it’s sweat or some fungal thing, but once I get to the coast, it kicks in regardless of whether I’m rocking flip-flops or trainers all summer—I’ve had plenty of time to test that theory. 🙄
I’ve talked to more doctors than I care to admit, and not a single one of them had any clue what was wrong with me. In the end, they basically screwed me over by just deciding I have "sensitive" feet and telling me to go take some pictures of them or something.
Personally, I’m leaning towards it being some kind of allergy.
It’s a massive pain, seriously. Both physically and mentally, because I’m constantly hiding my feet. 😢
