Bradley Phillips35 said:I just wanted to say that the government really ought to pay doctors a decent wage, and then honestly, if they ever get caught taking bribes, they should just be thrown the book tossed at them...

But let's be real, your average small business owner with just a three-year trade school cert often pulls in more than what doctors are making right now...

The thing is, those specific doctors are actually incredibly well-compensated already.

See, a tradesperson with a bit of schooling is running their own private gig, so they make as much as their hustle allows. It's the same for doctors—nobody is stopping them from taking out a loan, setting up a private practice, or equipping an operating room to really stack that cash. If someone manages to pull in $100,000, hey, good for them.

When you're working within the Medicare system—which, let’s face it, is constantly drowning in its own red tape, debt, and sheer nonsense—you get what you get, and even then, it's definitely not pocket change.
There just aren't enough surgeons out there, let alone specialists who can handle everything thrown at them. Honestly, cardiac surgeons in America are such a rare breed—if you look at the Medicare registry, there are maybe only 6 or 7 people nationwide who can actually run heart surgeries completely on their own without needing someone to hold their hand.

Back when I used to hang out around there all the time, I honestly never saw anyone needing some official referral or paperwork. People would just show up, pay cash on the spot, and if they were short on funds, there was this little little teller window for a bank right in the lobby—I think it was Chase—where you could basically grab a quick loan for your medical bills right then and there. It sounds pretty brutal by today's standards, but man, that’s just how things rolled back in the day.
I honestly have no clue what kind of referral you're talking about or even what it's supposed to do, but let me tell you one thing, Magdalena—unless we're talking about those specific annual quotas for surgeries, coronary angiograms, or stents that Medicare tracks, she doesn't have any other connection to them, especially not being part of the Medicare system itself.
Magdalena’s only real link to the government, aside from that procedure quota, would be through the contract with the Blood Bank, or maybe something involving Microbiology since I think they don't have their own facility and just act as a teaching base for the University of Osijek Faculty of Medicine.

As for who stinks... well, geez... hm... looks like Professor "Big" T is the one.
Magdalena isn't actually part of the Medicare system. They just have a contract with Medicare to handle a specific number of surgeries every year. If anything, Medicare is just one of their many clients, so to speak.
Our friend the Woman from Rijeka/Woman from Rijeka 2 has officially become a media sensation. She’s all over the news on Fox News and making headlines in the papers now... honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they start calling her in to testify as a witness next...
I mean, seriously... over at Rib, you’ve still got the one and only, the true "Mr. 5000," Dr. Johnson, holding things down. They caught him red-handed once too, but somehow everything just got swept under the rug and left to gather dust...
I'm just saying, as far as I know, there isn't a single cardiac surgeon in San Francisco who actually knows how to handle a heart surgery with total authority. Oggy and a few of those other American surgeons won't let anyone even get close to their level, let alone share what they know. I guess they're just guarding their little "exclusives," if you ask me...
San Francisco might be able to hold its own for a little while, but honestly, they could probably forget about cardiac surgery altogether after a certain point. If anyone out there wants to actually perform heart surgery, they’re going to have to head over to Washington, D.C. It’s a bummer, really.
Lab results help! in Health ·
I mean, you’ve got a point there... but honestly, even if that T3 level nudges just past the upper limit, it feels way too small of a jump to trigger tachycardia when everything else is looking totally steady—though I guess we don't really know what kind of heart racing we're talking about here, like if it's just constant or comes in waves.

I definitely agree that getting a more thorough look at the thyroid wouldn't hurt at all; if anything, it’d probably give us some peace of mind.

So, looking at this, everything seems centered on your thyroid. T3 is one of those thyroid hormones, but honestly, yours is only barely elevated, and since your TSH—that pituitary hormone—is sitting perfectly steady and hasn't dropped, I really don't think your racing heart has anything to do with your thyroid levels.
That being said, you should definitely take all these results to a specialist in nuclear medicine so they can give you a proper, expert read on the situation.

Bradley Thompson9 said:Honestly, you're better off just seeing a private specialist. They actually care about you, they're way more attentive, and you don't have to deal with this kind of nonsense.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. Just because a doctor is private doesn't mean the care is actually any better. If anything, I think people need to be super careful with those types of clinics—mostly because of how much they drain your bank account, but also because you can't always trust the quality of care.

Edward Green said:well, if they're getting overpaid, then we should just cut their salaries. 👏
and if they're massively overpaid, then we really need to slash those paychecks big time. 👏
I'm talking about that five and a half thousand mentioned earlier. 🙂

Personally, I think it’s pretty tough to say someone is overpaid when their entire job is literally saving lives, but hey, that’s just my two cents.

All five of them... look, I wasn't trying to imply that doctors are overpaid. Not at all. And I definitely don't think they're underpaid given how things stand in America today and looking at current US public sector averages.

Justin Fox said:So, it’s your typical escalation. You basically figure out her sister's name, or if she won't budge, you just nail down the time, date, and location of her job. Then you take it straight to the big sister—who happens to be her boss—and let her have it with threats of taking things even higher. Honestly, it's always way easier for people to play by the rules when they're being lectured from below rather than being told what to do by someone above them. Sure, they'll probably hate your guts after that, but hey, at least they'll think twice before messing with you again.

And don't forget about the therapeutic benefits for your own sanity. It's like a little release valve for all that built-up stress; you vent your frustration exactly where it needs to go instead of just swallowing that disrespect and letting it eat you alive later on...

Edward Green said:I mean, you can't really complain about the pay when you're talking about surgeons pulling 3 AM shifts fixing heart patients, trauma docs patching up car wreck victims, or specialists dealing with newborn care and oncology—those folks definitely deserve their cut. 👏

If you honestly think they're getting overpaid, maybe you should've just gone to med school yourself instead of complaining from the sidelines. 🙄

And besides, where on earth are you getting that salary figure from?
None of the professionals we were just talking about are making less than $5,000 a month. Honestly, those numbers only ever move in one direction—up, never down.

I’d probably just head straight to the head nurse at the unit to lay it all out, and then take that exact same story right up to the hospital administrator. Either way, you gotta be firm, direct, and honestly? Don't be afraid to be a little difficult and push their buttons if you have to.
Unbearable hip pain—need help ASAP!!! in Health ·
Ugh, man... that sounds like such a hassle.

Are you dealing with any inflammation along with the pain, or maybe some other weird symptoms popping up?

To be honest, everything you're describing kind of points toward something gynecological... I don't know. Maybe. It just reminds me of a case involving endometriosis I heard about once.

But hey, who knows for sure? It's impossible to say anything definitive without more info.
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) in Health ·
For older folks, yeah, it’s usually a go. But look, I’m not saying you can just wing it without any precautions—I definitely wouldn't rule out getting checked out by a cardiologist first.
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) in Health ·
Look, I wasn't saying it’s totally harmless, but man... out of every hundred older folks or uncles that pass through my hands every couple of days, someone always has FA, though it usually just seems like a side note or a secondary thing they've got going on. From that perspective, I mean... it's like even a cardiologist might just jot down FA if they're stuck for something to write in the chart, just to fill the space without being wrong or acting like a know-it-all.

Like, is there some kind of trick or method to check it ourselves...

Not really, man.

It really just depends on what you're looking for, honestly. But if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't go wrong starting out by sticking to milk or some other dairy stuff until you get your bearings.
