Benjamin King2 said:You didn't even mention which motherboard you're using, what the RAM situation is, or what you actually tweaked in the BIOS...

I bumped the frequency from 200 up to 220 and that's where it stays—anything over 220 just forces the BIOS back to defaults.

Motherboard: ASRock ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 (3 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 1 AGI Express, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)

System Memory: 3072 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)

2X DIMM1: Kingmax KLDD48F-A8KB5 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)

DIMM2: Kingston 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (6-6-6-18 @ 400 MHz) (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz)

My Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 runs totally fine when I bump it up to 2.4—everything's smooth. But the second I try to push it even a little past that, the BIOS just gives up and resets back to the default 2.2. Temps are sitting at 40 degrees under load at 2.4, so it’s clearly not an overheating issue. Any idea why it won't go higher than 2.4?

Everything installed fine on my laptop, but this part didn't even show up...?

I'm clueless about the drivers, but I have to ask—how did you get that temperature reading to show up in the bottom right corner? Is that some kind of widget or a specific program? Thanks.

EDIT: actually, I'm good now
did you reboot your machine?
for me, it usually shows Windows is Activated 🤷

yeah, I did—and it looks like they're activated, just wasn't 100% sure... oh well, I'll know for certain in a month or so haha

Which Windows version are we talking about—7100 or 7600?

Try going to My Computer/Organize/Layout and checking the box for the Menu bar. Once that pops up, hit help and then About Windows—that should tell you the version.

It's version 6.1 7600—pretty sure it's the RTM build. I've successfully activated it on a few computers already, and they all show Windows is Activated under system properties. But here, someone used some sketchy activator that just bypassed the 30-day grace period without actually marking it as activated...

Hey, quick question—is this Windows actually activated? Thanks in advance.

My RTM version is running perfectly—activated without a hitch and I've got nothing but good things to say about it. That said, is there actually any real difference between the RTM and the full version? Is it even worth nuking an RTM install that's working flawlessly just to get the full one?

Noah Ruiz73 said:New OS, new problems 😁 This week, the player minimizes to the only way left !
Apparently there's some 3rd party app to get that old-school minimized player look back?! Google rules 👍

Here's my fix—simple enough... not sure if I'm allowed to drop a link without catching a ban, though..

So, here’s the deal: back on Windows XP, I could just right-click the taskbar -> toolbar -> Win Media Player, check the box, and then whenever I minimized the player, it would pop up as a little icon by the clock in the system tray... how do I pull that off in Windows 7?

Sam Murphy said:Can I install this over Windows XP without losing my files, or am I looking at a full C drive format?

Pretty sure you'll need to format C—unless you're upgrading from Windows Vista, then you might skip the wipe when moving to 7.

Noah Sanchez39 said:1) I mean, why wouldn't you? If the Control Panel (System and Security, System) shows "Windows is activated" under Windows activation, along with a specific Product ID—you're golden. 😉

2) Give CCleaner a shot; it's free and works for a whole

week.

thanks a lot 😉

Did we do that thing to get our Windows activation working—do we need to keep updates turned on? Also, is there anything like TuneUp Utilities out there for the week?

So I'm having a headache with my Logitech X-530 speakers—they're acting like a basic 2.1 setup instead of 5.1. Their official drivers and the Realtek manager just won't play nice with Windows 7, so I grabbed a different Realtek version. In that one, when I run the speaker test, all 5+1 channels work perfectly fine, but then I try to actually watch something on Media Player or YouTube and... nothing. It just defaults back to 2.1. Even after messing with the Control Panel settings to force 5.1, it’s still a total bust.
