There has been quite a bit of discussion here regarding how the USPS fails to notify people, leaving them completely unaware that a package is waiting.
It is entirely possible the parcel is sitting right there in San Diego, yet she simply never received a notification.
That wouldn't be the first time such an oversight occurred.

I appreciate the assistance. 🙂
Hopefully, I will be able to figure out a solution shortly. 🙂

For instance,
if the recipient is in Brooklyn but you wrote the zip code for Manhattan, the package will likely
1. wander aimlessly between sorting facilities
2. be sent back to you marked as undeliverable

It is probably just sitting there right now, waiting five days before it eventually finds its way back to your doorstep.
To file a formal inquiry, you would need your ID and the receipt,
but perhaps a more practical solution would be calling the post office—try asking the information desk for the specific branch number where you dropped it off—to see if they can locate it.
Then, if you are the intended recipient, you could simply go pick it up.

I left the package at the post office near the main train station... and since my destination was Los Angeles, I used the 90001 zip code.😢
I have a quick question, and I would truly appreciate any insight from those who might be well-informed on the matter. 🙂
Last Saturday morning, I dropped off a package at a local USPS branch to be sent from Chicago to Los Angeles. It was sent COD, and the amount due upon delivery was $50. It has now been over a week, yet the recipient hasn't received the parcel, nor has it been returned to me. If the package has indeed been lost within the postal system, am I legally entitled to claim a refund for the value of the contents?
