Gym Life in Hobbies & Leisure ·
A 15-year-old kid? Man, his testosterone is basically redlining right now—it’s gonna stay peaked for a few years and then just... vanish.

Honestly, those are the prime years to hit the gym...

just make sure you actually learn proper form first and don't go ego lifting too fast...

finally woke up and realized I'd rather put my money into steak and eggs than all that junk... just grab some cheap whey and dextrose—keep the rest for actual food...

Amen...

Great points!...

it’s basically like saying "I'm an expert on sex because my buddy watched a movie about it"😁

Alright, let’s hear it—why is Scitec actually trash?

Just a heads up: I’m not interested in any of those weak-ass arguments like "my buddy told me it sucks," "it's too cheap to be good," or "I read some random thread online saying it's just crushed-up cookies"... don't even bother with that nonsense.

Piralić is killer, but he’s got two issues—one he can fix, the other? Not so much...

his calves are lagging behind quite a bit, which is fixable...

but the real issue is his height. Being tall means some short dude is always gonna steal the win in the heavyweight division because they just look way more massive next to him. There's nothing he can do about that...

reminds me of another tall beast from around here, Eugene—now that was a monster...

here's a link to one of Piralić's videos...

You're kind of right, Jason Campbell70, but only halfway—a huge chunk of them are naturals and aren't touching steroids at all...

I’m not saying what you're doing is bad, but I get the feeling that people inspired by your gains might realize MuscleTech is just extra fluff they don't need in their routine—which could end up hurting their progress...
What I'm getting at is... it's not like you *can't* survive without MuscleTech, but it's better with it. And honestly, more is always better than not enough...
Let me break it down... after a killer workout, your body is screaming for fast proteins and simple carbs because your ATP and glycogen levels are basically bottomed out. If you just eat steak, it would take hours for your body to actually get what it's craving right away...
You say you haven't noticed a difference with or without MuscleTech? Well, what exactly were you expecting? A massive jump in your bench press or maybe 10 pounds on the scale in a month? Building a physique is a years-long grind that takes serious grit and patience—especially for those staying natural...

Food is everything—period. Anyone trying to swap real meals for supplements is just tripping...

But saying a Post-workout meal is useless? That’s honestly just laughable...
There’s tons of research out there on the Post-workout meal, not to mention what top-tier pro athletes swear by, so if you're gonna claim otherwise, you better have some actual facts to back it up...

Don't go confusing the casual lifters. I've seen posts from guys making these exact claims, followed by comments from other users, and now everyone’s just going to be flushing expensive protein down the toilet...

By the way, check out those bodybuilding forums like Reddit or Bodybuilding.com; you can see photos of guys who actually prioritize their Post-workout meal...

If you don't like how they look, fine—skip the Post-workout meal and in TWO YEARS you'll end up looking like Jason Campbell70...

Some guys will be hitting the stage in two years while you're still stuck...

Like Nicholas Kern90 said—2-3 grams is obviously way better than just 1. Get it through your heads: you're providing the building blocks for growth, and you're the one deciding how much goes into the tank...
If you stick to 1 gram per pound of body weight, you'll probably gain a single pound of pure muscle every 650 years.😁
You can use whey instead of pretty much any meal except your Post-workout meal, but you really should slow down the absorption with something else—usually milk (just a scoop of whey and a cup of milk)...
Some people find it too expensive or annoying to carry around a bunch of different proteins, so they take shortcuts like this. But if you don't have those issues? Just drink your whey with water and glucose after training, then swap your other meals for casein or a multi-component protein so it absorbs slower and actually gives your body a chance to use it all...

Lawrence Phillips said:What's the bare minimum supplement stack if someone wants to build muscle and strength in the gym to get better results in sports—specifically basketball?

Assuming the gym routine is every other day.

What supplements would you recommend?

Look, if you hit more than 1 gram of protein per kilo of body weight, anything over that 1-gram mark helps build muscle mass. That's the standard theory—it varies by person, obviously, but that's the ballpark...

If you pull in 2 to 2.5 grams per kilo, your body will actually utilize it, meaning muscle gain will be optimal... anything beyond that is pretty questionable for naturals, though with anabolics you can push up to 4 grams per kilo, but that's a whole different ballgame...
I should mention some big-shot experts even tell naturals to aim for 4-5 grams per kilo. I don't buy into that, but hey, it's your call...

Anyway, you gotta spread those proteins out into several smaller meals every 2-3 hours—so we're talking maybe 6 or 7 meals a day...

As for supplements, just buy what you can afford. Prices fluctuate wildly compared to quality, and most of the hype you see about specific brands is just hearsay, personal bias, or straight-up urban legends...

One more thing... try to get your protein from real food as much as possible. Use supplements only as a supplement if you can't get enough high-quality food (if you know what I mean). And obviously, a Post-workout meal consisting of whey and glucose right after training is mandatory...

Drink your whey right after your workout—mix it with some glucose tablets 500 g, or whatever—but don't you dare touch it with milk. You need fast absorption, right? Stick to water...

Jesse Martinez23..

Toss 9 ounces of fat-free cottage cheese into a shaker, slowly pour in some milk (maybe 1.5 to 2 cups depending on how thick you want it), then once it thins out a bit, dump in two scoops of whey. Close the lid, give it a good shake, and boom—you’ve got two meals sitting at 40g of protein each, with basically zero fat or carbs...
Quick tip: if you use Friendship brand cottage cheese, it blends way smoother with milk since there aren't many lumps. That other store brand stuff is garbage—total clumps that you can only fix if you have a blender handy...
You can eat this whenever, really. Just don't do it right after a workout—stick to your whey with water and glucose for that post-training window...
P.S. Don't go overboard with the milk during the day—it still has a high glycemic index. Personally, I cap mine at about two cups a day...

Sure, muscle definition exercises—but how the hell am I supposed to burn off that stubborn, annoying, ugh:2up: fat sitting right over my muscles and ankles? It’s insane how much that junk sticks around.
And honestly, that’s pretty much the only fat I’ve got. Even my "backside" is skinny.🙂

Subcutaneous fat tends to hang out in specific spots based on your genetics, but let's be real—that fat isn't actually "attached" to any specific muscle or body part.
So what does that mean?...
It means if we can just drive your body fat percentage down to the absolute minimum, that stubborn stuff will finally melt away.
Bottom line: whether you want to admit it or not, your body fat percentage is still higher than where you want it to be...

what's contradictory about some people just being genetically blessed with small, weak muscles—so they kill themselves in the gym and still don't grow...
btw Arnold Schwarzenegger had a similar issue and just fixed it with implants😉

Nancy Watson86 said:I'm also wondering how to "tone up" my legs from the knee down... you know, get that muscle definition and tightness...
anyone who actually knows what they're doing, please help me out

I know running and jumping rope are usually great for legs... but is that enough?

Just stand on the edge of a step or a curb—if it's high enough—on the balls of your feet and rise up onto your toes. Start with your heel lower than your toes, then push it above that level at the top. That’s where you really hit the calves. Just cycle through those positions with a slow, controlled rhythm. Obviously, do it one leg at a time—keep the other leg hanging to the side or braced against your ankle. Once you're gassed, switch legs. If you absolutely need a break, 30 seconds should do it. Calves are weirdly specific muscles—some people can work them their whole lives and never see progress. But hey, don't lose hope.
How to start a gym business? in Other Sports ·

You could set this up through an LLC or maybe a sports club—you can't really pull this off as a simple sole proprietorship anymore. Honestly? Go talk to a seasoned accountant who actually handles the paperwork for both setups and see which one nets you more after taxes. Also, check the SBA website to see if there are any grants or low-interest loans for new entrepreneurs. Might be worth hitting up some local banks too, just to see if they’re even lending right now.
silentpanther15 gave you solid advice. Forget about buying expensive equipment. A couple of bikes, a stepper, maybe an elliptical—or better yet, don't buy anything at all. Just focus on group classes like aerobics, Pilates, or calisthenics where you're basically selling your expertise. Pro tip: the fancier the name of the workout sounds, the more people will flock to it.
But since I get the feeling you're mostly worried about free time...
With your own business? Yeah, forget about that...

Richard Bennett44 said:I want to jump in on this topic. I'm trying to pack on some muscle mass— 🙂
I hit the gym four times a week and picked up some Whey protein. I’ve been having one scoop (32g, which is 24g of protein) mixed with milk after every workout. I was reading up on it and now I'm wondering what the ideal dosage actually is. The label says for my height and weight (6'1", 154lbs), I could take up to 126g of powder, which is about four scoops. It's kind of confusing because the lady at the Vitamin Shoppe where I bought it told me not to go over one scoop since my body wouldn't be able to digest that much protein anyway...

Also, one more thing—do I need to drink protein on days I don't hit the gym? Like, when I'm just chilling at home doing nothing 😁 or should I skip it?

Thanks in advance

Protein is basically building blocks for everything—muscles, skin, hair, nails, all that.
You need to eat it regularly just to keep your body running properly.
If you're looking to build actual quality muscle, you should aim for about 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.
How you get there is up to you. You can use supplements, or you can just hit those numbers through your regular meals if you can manage it.
Either way, if you've decided on Whey protein, try taking it right after training with some dextrose and water. One and a half to two scoops should be absorbed just fine.
If you plan on drinking Whey during the day away from your workouts, mix it with milk to slow down absorption; otherwise, it might actually work against you.
That clerk told you your body can't handle more than one scoop? Just typical nonsense you hear from retail workers...
Even two scoops in one sitting won't blow it for an average body. And you can have multiple servings throughout the day depending on your goals.
Personally, I'd suggest keeping Whey protein for your post-workout window and focusing on solid food or maybe a casein blend during the rest of the day to keep things slow-burning.
Whether you train or not, you still need protein if your goal is gaining quality muscle. So yeah, consume it on both training days and rest days.
One more thing... for most naturals, gaining even a few pounds of quality muscle takes a year of consistent training and eating right (if not longer).
So just be patient...
