Hey everyone, known and unknown... I could use some help again 😉

First off, gotta say Windows 7 is solid. I’m pretty happy with it so far...

But here’s the deal... since I haven't installed any specific codecs or those movie playback packs, I'm wondering if I actually need them on Windows 7? I guess the picture quality isn't quite where I want it (mostly talking about DVD rips), so maybe that's why. I usually just run my movies through BS Player... anyway, does anyone know which codecs actually work with Windows 7 x64? If I do need them, what should I get? And while we're at it, what’s the best media player out there right now?

So, I just picked up an HP ProBook 4710 notebook PC (VC436EA), got Windows 7 x64 installed, and now I'm hunting for some basic software...
I'm kind of stuck using Alcohol 120% right now. I downloaded this game that uses .bin and .ceu extensions, and Alcohol finds the .ceu file in the top window, but for some reason, it won't let me load it into the bottom one. 😢
I also tried messing around with a few different versions of Daemon Tools, but every single time it just tells me it isn't compatible with Windows 7.

Anyone got a fix for this?

Thanks for the replies, that’s what I figured (though this 'bible' used to be the space shuttle 🙂, I remember back when I was the only one in the house with a 19'' monitor, we didn't need a damn movie theater at home hahahahaha... just a sign that I'm getting old)

Alright, I figured I’d chime in too, and thanks in advance for the help here.

So, look, my rig is pretty old—maybe 5 years old or so.
AMD Athlon XP 2600
1.91 GHz, (only) 512MB RAM
ATI Radeon 9550, motherboard: Gigabyte GA-7N400l-L

Since we can snag free licenses through MSDNAA E-Academy at my college, which means I could basically grab Windows 7 for nothing, I thought to myself... why not give it a shot? So while I'm waiting on the guys at school to send over the info, I'm just browsing around and asking around about Windows 7.
I guess what I'm wondering is, can Windows 7 even run on 512MB RAM? If not, maybe I should just go ahead and buy some more memory now.
