Amy Brooks17 said:How long do you actually have to stay in the hospital? I thought the nurse mentioned about a week, so I’m wondering if that’s right. My septum is so crooked that I’m already breathing mostly through my mouth anyway, so sleeping shouldn't be much of an issue...
Yeah, you're looking at about a week in the hospital, especially for a heavy-duty case like yours—assuming they're doing open surgery under general anesthesia. Also, plan on sitting out any activities where you might take a hit to the nose for at least a month. No sports or anything high-impact. I don't know what your routine looks like, so just a heads-up. Your doctor will give you the full rundown regardless.
I’ll probably be in for about a week too (maybe a few days more depending on how it goes).
neonstag63 said:Haha, nah, I wouldn't go through with the haircut if I were you. 🤣 I don't know what your hair situation is like, but mine is pretty long. I usually have to tilt my head back and get a little help just to wash it properly. Besides, your tampon isn't going to last that long anyway—you probably won't even need to wash your hair before it's time to change it. 🤷
Haha, thanks! 😁 I had surgery yesterday. Everything went smoothly, and I handled it better than expected. No nausea, no vomiting, and thankfully no sore throat from the intubation. Once I was back in my hospital room, I could walk on my own—though you still have to let the nurses keep an eye on you for a bit. You’ll be checking in here every 20 minutes once the IV drip is finished. 🤣
Still stuck in the hospital. Everyone here is great—super kind and helpful. I don’t get the swab removed until Friday, and they keep teasing me about it because having that thing stuck up my nose is incredibly annoying. There's this gauze tucked under my nostrils that I have to swap out a few times a day because of the bleeding.
Sleep is becoming a universal struggle. Everyone’s complaining about it, and honestly, I get why. When you can only breathe through your mouth, lying down feels completely awkward. It’s uncomfortable. Right now, I’m basically trying to figure out how to sleep sitting up just to cope. 🤣
Mostly just getting handed painkillers and sitting around bored. 😁 If anyone else is hanging out around Vinogradski, let me know. I'm looking to connect.
Should I shave before this surgery? I'm a bit confused about how washing my hair works if I've got that mask on my head and tampons in my nose and all that... feels like getting water in there might be a bad idea. 😁

They haven't asked me for any proof of enrollment yet—do they just wait until my ID expires before checking if I'm still in school?
You can keep using everything until you hit 27. Once you submit that initial verification while you're still in school, they don't come knocking for more paperwork. Basically, you get a few extra years of perks even after you toss the cap at graduation. 🙂
Joshua Murphy7 said:Hey, which doctor are you seeing for your procedure? I’ve got mine scheduled in about 10 months—also an open incision over at Vinogradski.
Dana Bishop752 said:Who are you all seeing?
I'm heading to see Dr. Ivan. 🙂 So, who are you guys seeing?
Douglas Howard2 said:Hey everyone...
What kind of anesthesia did you go with?
Betty Edwards22 said:When you check into the hospital, the attending physician is supposed to review all your test results first—basically making sure everything checks out before they actually admit you.
I've got an open septorhinoplasty coming up at the Vinogradski clinic soon. I received the official stamp covering all the tests required for general endotracheal anesthesia, but I noticed the actual referrals for a few of them were missing from the packet. The paperwork includes the EKG, chest X-ray, and coagulation profile, but the stamp also lists electrolytes, urinalysis, and a couple of other things. Does anyone know if those aren't necessary, or will they just run them once I get to the hospital? My consultation with the anesthesiologist is scheduled for the day before the surgery.
Carol Diaz said:And then we have the usual nonsensical arguments claiming that America is simply too expensive and that we need to slash prices... Look, I assume the people actually running the businesses know exactly what their margins should be.
Nonsense? I happened to catch those news reports around 2:30 PM on ABC, and there was this chart from a study showing that America had the highest prices out of the five or six countries they were tracking—even higher than Spain.😁
I’m taking the away side with a -0.25 handicap at 2.12 odds (basically, if it ends in a draw, I lose half my stake and get the other half back; since Charlotte won, the bet hits.)
Solid breakdown. Fingers crossed it pays out. Quick question though—is this specific line available on the major US betting apps, or did I just miss it? And isn't it safer to just pick a match with a "Draw No Bet" option? If it ties, you just get your money back at 1.0 odds, and if they win, you still collect. Sure, the 1.7 odds are lower, but it feels like the smarter play.
LSU is leading the conference, while Florida State is sitting at 17th out of 20. Plus, LSU has Ibrahimovic—who’s currently tearing it up with 22 goals—while FSU's top scorer, Courtet, is struggling with just 8. LSU sits at 54 points and FSU is right behind them with 51, so this game carries some serious weight for the standings.
Sassuolo - Grosseto 1 @ 1.35 on the favorite
In the US second division, things are usually pretty predictable based on the standings. Here we have Sassuolo playing at home as the #1 seed against Grosseto, who is dead last. Sassuolo is consistent at home, and honestly, this is a solid value play.
Eric Fox7 said:The cup isn't in the same conversation, right? Yesterday's matches were plenty of a warning. 🤷
It’s even more obvious with those guys playing twice a week.
I haven't been keeping much track of the soccer lately. What did I miss?
I'm seeing Athletic Bilbao vs Eibar at 1.13. Not much of a gamble there. They're playing in the Spanish third division, so it could be a massive payday if they pull it off—especially since Athletic is sitting at number two in the Copa del Rey rankings.
Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona are locks to win the US Open Cup today. Even though it’s a domestic trophy, for them, it basically boils down to bragging rights. Barcelona is facing a second-division side, while Real Madrid takes on Atlanta United FC—a matchup where Real has historically dominated, whether playing at home or away. The odds actually look pretty decent given the matchups.
Atlanta United FC - Real Madrid CF 2 1.40 Cordoba CF - FC Barcelona 2 1.30
I'm looking for one more leg to bump up my total odds. What else are you guys eyeing for today? I was thinking about Aberdeen vs. Celtic in the Scottish FA Cup, or maybe just taking over 3.5 goals in the Cordoba CF - FC Barcelona game at 1.80? Every pick here is on the favorite.
I’ve been looking at Brazil vs. Colombia, specifically eyeing the Over 2.5 goals market. It feels like a safe bet that both sides will find the back of the net, and with squads this talented, I don't see them sitting comfortably at a 1-1 deadlock. There's usually a late surge or a breakthrough with these types of teams, pushing it past that second goal. The odds are sitting at 2.05 on the favorite. What’s your take on this?
Thomas Stewart87 said:And who exactly was Brazil crushing? In home friendlies, they beat South Africa, China, and Argentina (both squads were just league players) , while away, they took down Sweden without Ibrahimovic and several starters, plus Japan. The last two games Brazil played in the States back in June were losses: 3-4 against Argentina and 0-2 against Mexico. Last year in Madrid, Colombia lost 0-1 to Spain when Spain fielded their strongest lineup; Falcao and Rodriguez (from Porto) didn't play. Over the last two years, Colombia has played five friendlies in the US, beating Mexico, Jamaica, Honduras, and Ecuador, with one draw against the home team. Colombia is at full strength, in great form, and hungry for an upset against the giants. Betting on them to score a goal @1.55 at DraftKings offers better value than betting on a Brazil win.
Look, in their last 10 friendlies over the past 6 months, they’ve had 2 losses and 8 wins—including a 6-game winning streak. Out of their last 20 matches, they conceded in 9, but in 6 of those, they only let in a single goal. Now that you've pointed this out, maybe try mixing that bet differently with the rest of the board just to be safe.
Eric Fox7 said:Agreed. Going up against a squad featuring one of the top three strikers in the world for such pathetic odds is a losing move.
Falcao, Martinez, or Gutierrez? edit: probably Falcao 😁
+2.5/Panama - Spain 1.55 The odds on just Spain felt too low, so I'm hedging it this way. They're definitely going to bury at least three goals here.
Both Teams to Score YES/Netherlands - Germany 1.55 Both sides have found the net in at least their last ten outings, and they rarely stay quiet. Expect at least one apiece.
Gabon - Portugal 2 1.55 They might be missing Ronaldo, but let's be real—they're playing Gabon. They need to fix their goal differential after those last few rough games.
Saudi Arabia - Argentina 2 1.25 Last time these two met was back in '92 and Argentina took it, but in today's game, the winner is pretty obvious. Saudi Arabia keeps dropping games to teams weaker than Argentina, and they just got dismantled 5-0 by Spain.
Brazil - Colombia 1 1.60 Brazil is clearing the path ahead of them. Plus, with the game being played in New York, they’ll definitely put on a show.
Both Teams to Score YES/Sweden - England 1.70 This one feels a bit dicey, but I think it's a solid possibility. After what Sweden pulled off against Germany, and considering England isn't exactly known for staying scoreless, I see it happening. Sweden only failed to score once in their last ten matches—against Brazil—while England has scored in every single game.
Anyone got any ideas for a safe 2 or 3-leg parlay today?
Here’s what I’ve put together (mostly just following the heavy hitters):
Real Madrid - Celta 1 @ 1.10 No explanation needed there.
LA Galaxy - LAFC 2 @ 1.4 Galaxy dropped their last league game—first slip-up of the season, if I recall—so they'll be looking to get back on track immediately.🙂
Atlanta United - Inter Miami 2 @ 1.85 Miami also lost their last outing, so they shouldn't stumble here. Plus, Atlanta isn't quite playing at the same level as Miami right now.
Daniel Edwards said:Ethiopia (2.5) vs. Sudan (2) at 1.80. Looks like a solid play.
About a month ago, Sudan pulled off a wild 5-3 win, mostly thanks to two penalties handed out in the final ten minutes. They were sitting pretty at 3-1 during halftime. Now, Ethiopia has to go all-in and find at least two goals to stay alive, but even without the gift of penalty kicks, Sudan has proven they know how to find the back of the net. I’m calling the over. ☕
Man, why did I even bother putting this on my parlay? I was just playing the system, but hey, I've still got a shot. 🙂
For the next round of qualifiers, here’s where I’m putting my money:
Poland vs. England 2
It seems pretty obvious to me—I just don't think Poland stands much of a chance against England.
Denmark U21 vs. Spain U21: Match 2
Spain has beaten Denmark at this level before. Besides, we’re talking about Spanish youth prospects here—they definitely aren't a lost cause. 🙂
Japan vs. Brazil 2
Sure, it was a friendly, but Brazil and Russia have been dominating everything lately—which isn't exactly news. As for that Japan win over France? That was a total buzzer-beater. It was like an 88th-minute miracle; France had a corner, someone sent a stray ball deep into their own territory, the Japanese players just sprinted and capitalized on the mistake.
What’s the consensus on matchups like us against Wales, or Portugal vs. Northern Ireland, and Romania vs. Netherlands? I'm completely torn. The only thing I'm certain about is that we’re taking down Wales—we've finally found our rhythm and the chemistry is clearly there. Anyone have a deeper read on these other pairings?
Larry Fox5 said:The USA needs this win, and they’re clearly the better side compared to AIU. Personally, I’d take the handicap on the Americans. At 1.15, the odds are just too thin.
But how many points? Taking a spread always feels like a gamble to me, even when the outcome seems like a lock.
I've been mulling this over overnight Argentina vs. Uruguay: 1 @ 1.50 Argentina usually handles Uruguay quite easily. Their last matchup ended in a 1-1 draw at full time before they lost out on penalties, 5-6. I’m feeling a win for them this time around. Looking at their run through these qualifiers, Argentina looks like the clear heavyweight here.
Antigua and Barbuda vs. USA: 2 @ 1.15 The USA took this one 3-1 just a few months back. They're clearly the superior side, so why wouldn't they pull it off again?
Tahiti vs. New Zealand: 2 @ 1.25 New Zealand beat the same teams that Tahiti struggled against in their last two outings. Tahiti isn't bad, but New Zealand is the class of the field in Oceania.
Faroe Islands - Sweden 2 @ 1.10 Sweden has been on a roll lately, while the Faroe Islands(!) just can't catch a break. What can you say? Maybe the Swedish players aren't fans of the weather there? 🤣
Armenia - Italy 2 @ 1.40 Already covered this one.
Belarus - Spain 2 @ 1.15 ☕
Moldova - Ukraine 2 @ 1.35 This matchup caught my eye. It feels like Ukraine has the edge here. Thoughts?
Mexico - USA X2 @ 1.18 Lowering the risk while still backing our team. 😁
Netherlands - Andorra 1 @ 1.01 ☕
England - San Marino 1 @ 1.01 ☕
Ireland - Germany 2 @ 1.45 Already talked about this.
Luxembourg - Israel 2 @ 1.30 Israel always seems to handle Luxembourg easily. Last time they met two years ago, it was a 7:0 blowout. 🙂
France - Japan 1 @ 1.70 Decided to pull the trigger on this one. 😁
Russia - Portugal (No Draw) 2 @ 1.90 I don't see a draw happening. Portugal looks stronger. Besides, if it does end in a tie, the odds revert to the home win, so I'm not sweating it either way. 😁
