I've got the latest drivers installed, and the DirectX Diagnostic shows I'm running version 11, so I'm good to go horizontally!

DirectX version 10, shouldn't it be 11?

Alright, I’m back to bugging you guys again. About a month and a half ago, you all helped me piece together my PC, and honestly, everything has been awesome—I'm super happy with it. But here I am in the middle of the night, scrolling through random stuff online, and I've stumbled onto something that just doesn't make sense to me. See, I've got a Radeon HD 6970, which is supposed to be a DX11 card, but for some reason, Windows is showing it as image ?

So, I've got this Radeon HD 6970, and honestly, I haven't thought much about it until now, but for some reason, it isn't showing up as an HD 6970 anywhere—it just lists it as part of the Radeon HD 6900 series. I'm running the latest drivers (and even using the ones that came with the card, it’s the exact same thing), and inside the ATI Catalyst Control Center, everything looks totally fine; all my specs like clock speed and total Memory seem spot on. But then I check the DirectX Diagnostic tools and, well, here's the quote: "Approx. total Memory: 1757 MB." I get that DirectX usually gives you an approximate number, but man, why is the discrepancy so huge?

Hey everyone!!! So, I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop right now, and I was wondering how I can tweak the settings so it stays running even when I close the lid. For example, if I've got some music playing and I shut the screen, the music cuts out and the whole laptop just goes straight to sleep. Any tips?

What do you guys think about this monitor? http://www.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/LS246H/ It’s going for just under $467

Hey, I’ve got a quick question for you guys. I actually already pulled the trigger on a new PC, though it hasn't shown up yet because they're waiting on a couple of parts—should be arriving by Monday or Tuesday. I went with an ATI Radeon HD6970 XFX, 2GB DDR5. Some folks were giving me advice saying I should've just grabbed two HD 6850s instead. I even called the shop to see if I could still swap it out if I changed my mind, which they said was fine. So, how does that actually work? Do all games support dual graphics cards, or do you have to mess around with specific settings in every game to get it running?

Once you've got everything installed, you just gotta go into the settings and set the Spell Check to English, then you should be good to go!

Just installed it and it's working great! Thanks so much!!!

Noah Sanchez39 said:I'm not too sure about Opera, but in Firefox 4 you can just flip the "Check my spelling as I type" switch off pretty easily. I think Henry Morales6 uses a ton of special characters, so maybe that's why the interface is acting up and getting all buggy on him.😬

It’s got nothing to do with the week itself; you can get those red underlines on Windows XP too.

Back when I was running Firefox 3 on Windows XP, I had the English spell check enabled and everything worked fine. Now that I've switched, if I turn off spell check, it's totally fine—but honestly, they'll probably have an English spell check update for Firefox 4 soon anyway, so it should work perfectly here! Also, regarding the OS, I've realized it's not really about the version of Windows you're using, it's more about the specific programs you've got running.

Thanks so much, I really needed that! Right now I'm running Firefox 4, and they don't have an American English version for my specific needs yet, but I'm really hoping they roll out support for older versions soon. Fingers crossed! Thanks again!

Douglas Garcia52 said:You can actually swap out your language settings on Windows 7 just by using Windows Update! 😉

I've been looking around, but everything I find is just for switching the whole system language over to American English. That’s not what I’m after—I actually want to keep my Windows interface in English. What I really need is just the spellcheck to kick in while I'm typing. Right now, every single thing I write is being underlined in red like it's some kind of massive error, which is super annoying because it's clearly not right. Back when I was running Windows XP, as soon as I switched the keyboard layout to American in the settings, the spellchecker would automatically start working. You know, that little language toggle you see down in the taskbar near the clock where you usually swap between ENG and other layouts? I'm trying to get that same functionality back.
So, I've got my Windows 7 settings set to English, but for some reason, the system keeps insisting on underlining everything like it's still stuck in another language. Does anyone actually get what I'm trying to say here?

So, I’ve got this "problem." Basically, no matter where I’m typing—whether it’s in a chat window, Microsoft Word, or even right here on the forum—I keep getting these annoying red squiggly lines everywhere. I’m assuming it's just the spellcheck acting up because it thinks everything is wrong. I guess I probably need an American English language pack or something? I’m running Windows 7, so if anyone knows where I can snag that, let me know!
Nicholas King said:What version of Office are you running on your PC? Honestly, it doesn't feel like a Mac vs. PC compatibility issue to me—it sounds more like you're just working with an outdated version on your computer.

If you're still rocking Office 2003, you should definitely grab and install this.

Thanks, it works!
Hey there! Quick question—how do I open those Office files created on a Mac, you know, like .docx and .pptx, over on my PC?

Noah Sanchez39 said:Well, why don't you share that little secret with the rest of us? 😉

So, here’s how you do it: just open up any folder and set the view exactly how you want it. Then, hit on Oracle (up in the top left), head over to "Folder and search options," click the "View" tab, and select "Apply to Folders." This works for folders, but keep in mind you'll have to repeat the whole process for different file types—like if you've got a bunch of .mp3s, .avi files, or .doc documents. Basically, just open a folder containing those specific file types and run through the steps again.

Honestly, nobody’s gonna come save you if you don't step up and help yourself🙂, but I finally figured out my whole folder mess once and for all.

Hey everyone! I know I’ve asked this before and didn't get an answer, but I'm throwing it out there again. How do I set all my icons to be the exact same size across every single folder on Windows 7? On Windows XP, it was super easy—you just picked the view style you liked, went into the tools menu, hit "apply to all," and boom, everything looked uniform. I've been digging through the settings on 7 trying to find that same option, but I'm totally stuck. Help me out!

Hey everyone! Quick question—how do I set the default icon size to medium across the board in Windows 7? I remember back in the Windows XP days, you could just go into "My Computer," set it to medium icons, hit "Apply to Folders" under tools, and boom—every single folder you opened would follow suit. Is there an easy way to do that here?
