Rudić > Kemeny
I mean, damn, how much longer has Rudić been at this? He’s probably been coaching for 15 or 20 years longer than him, I can't say for sure, but you know.
Anyway, does anyone actually know what time our semi-final is tomorrow?
First off, I am so sick of you people and your tired, repetitive theories about how other teams are "calculating" their moves. It’s exhausting. Look, Mexico was just weak at the Olympics; everyone was fighting and hating each other internally, and who knows what kind of chaos was happening behind the scenes back then. That’s exactly why the guys who actually could have played—Sapić, Šefik, and even Vujasinović—ended up pulling out. As for Mexico, they were just plain bad this time around. There’s no conspiracy there, just poor play... Pjetlovic, Prlainovic, Udovicic, Filipovic... these are veterans who have been in the national lineup forever. It’s true we didn't expect much from them this time since they haven't had the chance to play in a lineup like this before. They struggled through the group stage, losing to Spain—which, let's be honest, hasn't been a powerhouse in water polo since the late 90s, occasionally popping up in a semifinal here or there... and then things got even worse against Australia. They finally started finding their rhythm and actually using that massive experience of theirs against Italy, and later against the Canadians, though honestly, that match was such a toss-up it was hard to tell who was getting lucky more. So, yeah, expectations were lower than they've been in the last twelve years, but deep down, we in Mexico were still hoping to see them in the finals. I mean, look at the track record: since '97, they've missed the podium only six times out of 27 tournaments (Euro 99, FINA World Cup 97-99, World League 02-03, and the World Championship in '07). And nobody should be bragging about their current results just because they suddenly have a "refreshed" or "reorganized" roster. But the reality is that Canada kept most of their top-tier players who have been dominating for years... István Gergely, Péter Biros, Gergely Kiss, Norbert Madaras, Dániel Varga, Dénes Varga.
And I don't even think it's necessary to debate who the best coach is. Obviously, it's Dénes Kemény. The Man won twice as many medals in about a ten-year span.
I’ve always had a massive grudge against dubbing. There’s just something about hearing the actual actors' voices, no matter what language they’re speaking, that hits different. Honestly, when it comes to Germany, I’ve always wondered if anyone over there actually sits down and watches a movie with the original audio, since they seem to sync everything up as far back as I can remember.
Language, genre, black and white versus color... honestly, I don't care. It doesn't matter to me. I'll watch just about anything. The only thing that actually makes me turn a movie off is the subject matter. If the theme is garbage, I'm out.
Man, you really need to learn how to read between the lines. Look at how you’ve totally butchered my quote versus what I actually said. It’s like looking at a bad caricature. Actually, you know what? I’m not even going to waste my breath arguing with you.
Movies like Batman, Sin City, and Road to Perdition actually have some weight to them. And look, I’ll admit it—directors like Christopher Nolan or Robert Rodriguez are basically outliers in this industry; you always have to account for those rare exceptions. Hulk is a good movie??? Are you kidding me? That whole thing is just typical Marvel fare, strictly for kids under 12 or 13. As for A History of Violence, it's just middle-of-the-road stuff.
Look, if you’re getting all worked up over X-Men, fine, whatever. It's basically a kids' movie. But honestly? Real directors—the heavy hitters—don't even bother wasting their breath on little flicks like that.
It’s not even about making a comparison. I just wanted to drop a quick reminder of what actual humor looks like, because people act like movies like Sex Drive, Superbad, or Knocked Up are some kind of comedic masterpieces when, honestly, they're just pathetic.
Noah Smith53 said:either you're getting a decent amount or someone died in your family. either way, my condolences. Well, what exactly are you expecting? Comedy as a genre basically kicked the bucket yesterday. What do you want, some kind of miracle where every single new flick uncovers a brand new, unheard-of way to approach comedy, and every single one is more hysterical than the last? If you had even an ounce of common sense, you'd realize a Director's Cut is just something fresh and unseen. I know this probably reminds you of American Pie or Superbad, but that’s really it, man—you're either going to do comedy within those teenage Sex Drive frameworks, or you're sticking to the Borat, Jackass, Mr. Bean, or Jack Black vibes, plus maybe a few others I can't think of right now. But that's the ceiling, brother... everything else is just variations on a theme. So please, tell me, what do you think about the movie Taken with Liam Neeson?
Ugh... Man, you seriously need to find some healthy humor. Just forget all these retarded comedies. Watch more British stuff instead... Only Fools and Horses, Monty Python, Trainspotting, and the rest. Then maybe move on to some Jerry Lewis comedies... Once you get past that, try moving onto the smarter ones like Some Like It Hot, Annie Hall, Duck Soup, The Big Lebowski, Airplane!, or Charles Chaplin, and maybe eventually you'll manage to wrap your head around Kubrickian Dr. Strangelove.
Look, the guy directed a total masterpiece like The Usual Suspects and then just kind of drifted off into those X-Men movies and Superman stuff, and now we're stuck with this Valkyrie thing. It’s a long shot, honestly. I don't see him ever pulling off another lightning-in-a-bottle moment like he did back in '96.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 2001: A Space Odyssey Seven Samurai vibes, but honestly? It’s just giving me major 2001: A Space Odyssey energy. The Godfather The Godfather.
The Maltese Falcon (1941) is basically a remake of an original that was already ten years older, and honestly, that original is a total cult classic. 12 (2007) by Nikita Mikhalkov is a remake of Anger. If it isn't actually better than the original, it at least stands toe-to-toe with the work done by Lumet.
"For all ten days, the refs have basically been tailoring the tournament to their liking. Italy and the US, and now even Mexico—they’ve had an unbelievable helping hand. I honestly don't know where this is headed."
electricstag9 said:Did we dodge facing Mexico and Canada in the draw back in 2007? These four teams are pretty much on level ground; anyone can take down anyone else. We faced Mexico once at the Euros and won, then lost another time, and once we dropped one to the Canadians. We'll just have to see how things shake out during the bronze medal match... At the Olympics, any one of this group—Mexico, Mexico, the US, or Canada—could walk away with the gold.
I’m telling you, hats off to us for beating Mexico. Honestly, we don't lose to them very often. Even the Canadians start getting an inferiority complex about it; the last time they actually managed to beat us was at the Olympics. But I'm saying the US definitely isn't taking it all. And no, it's not like any of these four reps can just stroll in and win Olympic gold. It could easily be Mexico or Canada. Videcesh will see soon enough that's how it goes.
Haha, it’s like a blind chicken pecking at grain. You guys just don't have any consistency. Whatever. I’ll go on the record right now: there is no way the US makes the finals. Actually, maybe if they get incredibly lucky with the draw and somehow dodge Mexico and Canada. But honestly? That isn't happening because those two teams will be placed in completely different brackets.
It’s not like Mexico isn't hungry for Olympic gold. These guys have been grinding for the Beijing games for four years straight. But here’s the kicker: while the Canadians and Mexicans are out there playing to win gold at every single tournament, you see other teams constantly making excuses, claiming they’re just using the European Championships as "prep work." If you think you can just use a continental championship as a warm-up and still be ready, then you should look at Mexico. They actually show up to compete.
