Hey there, my favorites,
I’m really hoping to find someone who actually deals with Hashimoto’s but still has totally normal hormone levels and ended up needing medication—can anyone tell me at what level things usually trigger a prescription? My TPO Ab was sitting at 751 (that was back in 2007), and while my TSH was a little high then, it eventually settled back down into the normal range. Since then, I’ve just been doing annual checkups, basically waiting until everything goes sideways before I bother going back to see my doctor. But now, after a year of this, I’ve gone ahead and requested full antibody testing—both TPO and TgAb—because I seriously need a second opinion from a specialist. I am feeling absolutely miserable right now; I used to know this feeling, but it was always temporary, whereas this current bout is just long and utterly horrific, and I need another expert's take because the way things are going makes zero sense. I keep seeing news about certain doctors who specialize in how to treat Hashimoto’s, so I want to see what they have to say. Honestly, I could deal with the constant cold or even accept the weight gain (even though I never used to struggle with my body like this), but this exhaustion is literally killing me... I’m actually crying because I’m just so exhausted!
Hey everyone, I just got my blood work and urinalysis back. I’m looking for some input from anyone who might know what they're looking at, because honestly, I’m holding off on seeing my doctor until this next set of results hits my inbox.
I’m only listing the stuff that isn't quite hitting the standard ranges. My blood count seems fine overall, except for a couple of things (I put the normal ranges in parentheses for you):
neutrophil % = slightly low 43.3 (44-72).
serum appearance = slightly lipemic (normally clear).
and then there's the urine analysis:
pH acidic = (5.0-9.0)
erc/Hb = positive (neg)
protein = slightly opalescent (neg),
glucose = neg. (norm)
leukocytes = 12-15 (0-2(*400))
erythrocytes = 5-7 fresh (0-2(*400))
epithelial cells = a few (0-1(*400)
bacteria = a few (0/neg.(*400))
I just wanted to jump back in here and say a huge thank you to everyone for all the advice and input. I actually went out and did another test, and yep—positive again. I ended up seeing a private doctor because I wasn't getting anywhere, and even though they couldn't see much on the ultrasound, the blood work confirmed I was pregnant. But then things took a turn... I switched up my primary care physician, and after sending me for more labs, it turns out my hCG levels have dropped significantly, which basically means the pregnancy didn't make it. It’s devastating, honestly. We haven't had any news about a future baby yet, but we're holding onto hope that it won't be too long before we try again. Seriously, thanks again for being there for me through this.
darkmaker, thanks for the heads-up. I actually managed to switch doctors—honestly, I wouldn't even go back to her for a prescription if my life depended on it, because I am just so incredibly fed up and disappointed, though I can't even put my finger on exactly why I'm this livid. Now I just need to swing by and grab my medical records. Thanks!
Hey everyone, do I seriously need to find a new gynecologist?? And how do I even go about that???
So, I was seeing this private doctor, but now everything is such a mess because I’m hunting for a referral. My primary care physician—who is great, by the way—told me she isn't allowed to just hand one over, which means I have to go back in for more blood work or whatever. Now I’m stuck having to visit my regular OB-GYN using a formal referral, even though I really don't want to deal with that whole process. Honestly, I don't even know how to explain the situation to them without sounding totally ridiculous. Does anyone know how I can switch doctors as fast as possible? And does the new one actually have to be located right here in my neighborhood?????

Maybe you actually needed those specific ones because of everything I mentioned earlier.
Get yourself to an OBGYN right now who can actually run an ultrasound, then you'll have some real answers.
Look, they didn't even bother checking me out properly, so I'm definitely finding a different doctor. Now I'm just sitting here kicking myself for not doing this sooner—is it already too late? Thanks, though, I'm heading to see someone else today.

It’s totally possible we're looking at some early pregnancy bleeding here, so you really need to confirm whether you're actually pregnant or not—and don't just rely on those cheap drugstore tests, go get a blood test for beta HCG levels instead.
Anyway, if you are pregnant, you should probably be on bed rest because of that spotting, and you might need some extra progesterone (you know, that hormone that helps sustain the pregnancy; things like Duphaston or Utrogestan) just to give it a fighting chance.
But if you aren't pregnant? Well, if the bleeding doesn't stop in a day or two, you seriously need to see a doctor to figure out why you're bleeding for this long. Could be a cyst, could be a hormonal imbalance, who knows?!
Just get to a reliable OB-GYN ASAP!!! Seriously, do it!
And about those vaginal suppositories... honestly, I have no idea what they're specifically for, but I wouldn't even touch them without getting a second opinion from a doctor first.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply, but honestly, someone told me that in such an early stage, hormones won't even make a difference in saving a pregnancy, and usually, you don't even need a surgical procedure since it's basically just an early miscarriage where everything clears itself out naturally. Still, I am definitely going to look into this today and go get a second opinion from another doctor. I even reached out to CVS, and they suggested I just wait a bit and retake a test, but at this point, waiting feels way too risky. Thanks, girl, for all the info.
Angela Wright;
I honestly can't wrap my head around how you ended up with a yeast infection when your gynecologist didn't even give you a proper exam—that's just shocking said:
Seriously, I have no clue why she skipped over the actual exam, but for the record, my period started on November 9th, so it hasn't actually been 22 days... it’s more like 14 days now. Anyway, thanks for the input; I'm definitely not touching any of these treatments until I can actually get myself in front of a doctor. Thanks again for the help.
🙂 Hey, thanks for getting back to me. So, it’s the 22nd today and I’m still bleeding—it's slowed down a bit, sure, but it hasn't exactly stopped. I'm stuck at work right now so I can't actually check the label on those vaginal suppositories, something starting with a B... they're supposed to help with inflammation, infections, or yeast issues. My mom called me last night and insisted I start using them, but honestly, I was just too exhausted and over it to deal with all that right now, especially since I've never even used anything like that before. Anyway, I'll give them a shot tonight; maybe they'll finally help stop this bleeding. At this point, I really need to just face reality and accept that there's no pregnancy here. This bleeding has been dragging on way too long, and even if it isn't a total flood, it's definitely not nothing either—I'm still having to wear a pad all day.
I really need some advice here. My period started on November 9th right when I expected it, so I didn't think twice about it at first. But since it just wouldn't quit even by Friday, I finally went to see my doctor—which was weird because my cycles are usually super short and never this heavy. She prescribed some vaginal suppositories, though she didn't actually do an exam, which makes sense given I'm bleeding and all. Anyway, she told me to start using them regardless of the bleeding and suggested I take a pregnancy test just to make sure nothing "passed" prematurely and caused an infection. So, I immediately grabbed a test—since we’ve been trying to conceive for almost a year now—and it came back positive. But honestly? I decided I wasn't going to touch those suppositories until the bleeding actually stops, so I'm planning to retest soon to see what's really going on. The bleeding isn't massive, but it's definitely not nothing; I'm going through about two maxi pads a day. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?? What should I even do??? 😢
