I don't even know where to start with this nonsense because honestly, how many times are we going to circle the drain on the same tired arguments before someone finally realizes we're being played? It feels like every single day there’s some new ridiculous thing being pushed by people who wouldn't know common sense if it hit them square in the face, and frankly, I'm getting exhausted just watching the whole circus unfold. Is anyone actually paying attention to what's happening right in front of our eyes, or are we all just going to sit here and nod along while everything falls apart? It’s like we’ve collectively decided to stop asking the hard questions because it’s easier to just drift along with the crowd, which is exactly what they want, isn't it? You see these people acting like they have all the answers, throwing around buzzwords and pretending they care about the little guy, but when you actually look at their track record, it's nothing but empty promises and self-serving agendas. Why does it feel like the more "connected" we get, the more disconnected we actually become from the reality of what's going on in this country? We should be demanding better, pushing harder, and refusing to accept these mediocre excuses, but instead, we just vent in forums and hope things somehow fix themselves, which—let's be real—they aren't going to do. kaže:
Seriously, what even is that supposed to mean? Like, who are you actually talking to right now? 😉 It feels like some people are way more sensitive to hormonal shifts than others, if you ask me. It’s like, one person gets hit hard by postpartum depression and it completely wipes them out, while someone else sails right through it feeling totally fine. But then you get those people who had a smooth ride—the ones who felt great—trying to act like postpartum depression is some kind of total joke. They honestly think it's just these women making excuses or being dramatic because of "body changes," as if they're just playing victim when they're actually struggling. Seriously, how can anyone be that clueless?

Honestly, I think you should just be kicking yourself in the ass with pure gratitude that you aren't dealing with this crap, instead of trying to pull that whole "what works for me works for everyone" logic on us. 😉

Facts! Look, everyone handles pregnancy differently, there's no one way to deal with it, but when we're talking about my husband, the guy always has some kind of excuse ready for my moods. It’s like, before I was even pregnant, he’d just blame everything on my monthly cycle and the Democratic Party, and now that I am actually expecting, suddenly it’s all just "pregnancy hormones" to him? Like, can we please just acknowledge that I have feelings without needing a biological scapegoat every single time?😠 😬

Hehe, honestly, my partner and I used to get into arguments almost every single time I was dealing with PMS... 🤣 I mean, I’d just snap over the tiniest little things, everything would bug me, and I’d be on the verge of tears constantly... it was just those little nonsense things that wouldn't normally bother me at all, but they’d hit me way too hard and I'd just feel overwhelmed by... well, everything. Just total nonsense.

Now that I'm actually pregnant, it's like turned up to eleven 👎 🤣 I mean, I try my best not to terrorize everyone around me with it... but man, I'll be watching some nature documentary—like seeing a baby elephant pass away—and I’m just sobbing like a baby. And there's nothing I can do about it 🤷 It's not like I'm enjoying this, far from it... 👎
Jonathan Adams2 said:Honestly, both times I was pregnant, it drove me insane seeing women using hormones as an excuse for everything... some act like they’re dying instead of just being pregnant...
Usually, it was just pregnancy itself that pissed me off because once I actually got pregnant, I realized it's basically the same state as before, just with a different body...

I used to snap at comments I didn't like even when I wasn't pregnant.. so don't give me that "it's the hormones" crap now...

And yeah, I know I pissed you all off😂....

Just enjoy being pregnant and tune out everyone else...

Problem is, you can't always get ahead of those people. As soon as they see you're showing, they start chirping about how big you are, then they start judging you... people are just like that... always looking for a fight.

I guess it just depends on the person, 😉 it seems to me like some people get hit way harder by those hormone shifts than others. It’s kind of like postpartum depression—some women go through it and it's devastating, while others feel totally fine. So, if someone is having a great time, it doesn't mean they should turn around and claim that postpartum depression is just a bunch of nonsense or that those women are just making excuses for "body changes"...

In all honesty, I think you should just be happy you didn't have to deal with all that drama, rather than trying to apply your own logic to everyone else's experience... 😉
It’s honestly eating at me that I have to stay on bed rest... I feel more like some kind of invalid than an expectant mother.. 👎

I can't even tackle basic chores around the house because of the whole "staying still" rule.. I barely get out, maybe just a quick outing on Friday or Saturday nights, and then I'm just stuck at home staring at the TV or messing around on my laptop. It gets so incredibly boring when there's nothing else to do.. 👎

Sometimes I'll grab a coffee here or there, or meet someone up for lunch at the campus dining hall, but even that feels off. I'm constantly overthinking everything—like, I can't walk too fast (and I seriously hate dragging my feet..), I can't sprint to catch the bus (even though I almost always end up racing against the clock to catch my ride), and I have to be super careful that nobody bumps into my stomach on public transit. I can't even hang out in a smoky bar anymore either... which is such a trip, because smoking is totally fine with my inner circle and normally doesn't bother me at all, even if I'm breathing it in for an hour or two a few times a week, but now? Not allowed.. Plus, the weather is getting colder by the day, and soon I won't even be able to make it to the pub. And don't even get me started on the dining hall; it drives me crazy seeing the line stretching all the way down the hallway every single time..

Ugh 👎
urbantinker8 said:Those other types you listed tend to have higher mercury levels, so they aren't usually recommended. Besides tuna and shark, swordfish falls into that category too. But salmon should be perfectly fine, provided you aren't eating it smoked or raw.👍
I've spent quite a bit of time looking into salmon from just about every angle since it's pretty much the only fish I eat😁. It’s packed with omega fatty acids, and it doesn't fall into that group of fish you're supposed to avoid. Of course, I suppose you wouldn't want to eat it three or four times a week either.
So, honestly, just go for it!😉

hehehe honestly, I eat fish, but ever since I moved out of my parents' place about two years ago, I tend to skip the whole cooking process just to avoid the massive headache of making a full meal... unless I grab a salmon or tuna steak, or maybe some cod fillets where I don't have to mess around with guts and tiny bones, 😬 canned tuna 😬 or even smoked salmon—but man, that stuff is pricey, so I can't really splurge on it very often 😳

On a different note: I'm super bummed that I can't head out for Halloween tomorrow because I still need to take it easy and rest as much as I have been... plus, it sucks that my favorite local pub is closing down😢
urbantinker8 said:Salmon is definitely okay to eat; in fact, it's actually really good for you during pregnancy. You just shouldn't go for smoked salmon or anything that hasn't been cooked enough.😉

Are you serious? Man, that would be awesome if they actually let us... 🙂 I was reading somewhere that you probably shouldn't go eating much cod or its close relatives... they even mentioned salmon being on that list too. Honestly, I don't know the first thing about fish or how to cook them properly... even though I grew up right by the coast... 🙈 You really have to watch out with sharks, stingrays, and tuna... mostly because of that whole mercury thing. It builds up in them over time, and while having tiny amounts in your system isn't exactly a crisis for most people, things change when you're pregnant. You don't want that stuff messing with the baby's development, so it's probably better to just play it safe and skip those for a bit... 🤷
vividhawk87 said:analognomad59, I honestly think you’re overreacting just a little bit here. 😁

Look, some of us didn't follow any of those strict rules to a T. We ate whatever we wanted and drank whatever we felt like, and we didn't run into any issues at all.
If you try to keep yourself or your baby under a literal glass bell jar, neither of you is going to develop any actual immunity!!
Besides, these food products are vetted so many times nowadays that there really isn't a health risk involved. I find it hard to believe that any major corporation would ever allow spoiled food to hit their shelves—they wouldn't risk their entire reputation like that!

And yeah, if I can be a bit sarcastic, why don't you just wear a mask whenever you go outside? People out there are consuming the very ingredients you're avoiding and then breathing them in, so you might accidentally pick something up...

I mean... this is just getting to be way too much.

At this rate, it makes it seem like PREGNANCY IS SOME KIND OF DISEASE!!!

(Just as a side note, during my last pregnancy, I cut out cappuccino because people claimed it caused miscarriages, yet the pregnancy still didn't work out. This time around, I've been drinking it whenever I feel like it—along with alcohol, Coke, and energy drinks—and look at me... I can barely walk, and I'm due in about 10 days.)

Me, exaggerating a LITTLE? 😂 I know, I know, I exaggerate waaaaaaay too much, but I just can't help myself... 🤷

My mom tells me the exact same thing. She had zero clue about all these "don't eat this" lists when she was pregnant, and she ended up having two perfectly healthy kids. On the flip side, though, I keep thinking... they probably don't issue these warnings for no reason, which just makes me freak out even more and I don't know what's worse... 🤷

The time I actually panicked was when I ended up on bed rest. Before that, I was so sure—I mean, hey, I'm 20 and perfectly healthy. If anyone shouldn't have problems, it's me. And then they found Ureaplasma and Gardnerella, things that apparently don't show up on a standard exam or a Pap smear. A lot of pregnant women have them and usually pass through without an issue, but I ended up with spotting and was put on strict bed rest 👎 and now I'm struggling to convince myself everything will be fine, since so many others deal with the same stuff and turn out okay... 👎
Tyler Ruiz502 said:Hmm... 🤔 I haven't really had to skip any specific foods because of the pregnancy yet... everything is pretty much business as usual for me... tuna, the occasional Coke, maybe a beer here and there, cheese and cream from the local farmer's market, ham, prosciutto... 🤔

I personally tossed out everything on that list just out of pure fear 😢 alcohol, coffee, Red Bull, Burn, black tea, Coke, all the carbonated stuff, anything made from cured meats (like prosciutto, bacon, sausage...), meat and dairy products that aren't packaged with a label and an expiration date, tuna, salmon, cod, even shark (not that I’ve ever eaten shark, but man, I wish I had the option 😳 ), and basically any deep-fried food unless I whip it up myself...

I just realized I probably need to ditch mozzarella and gorgonzola and all those soft cheeses too, plus any fresh fruit or veggies in sandwiches or salads bought out since I can't be sure they actually washed them 👎 but look, I am a total germaphobe, and even if there isn't some bacteria lurking around to catch, stressing myself out over "what ifs" isn't exactly great for the baby either.. 👎🙄
Linda Ward312 said:Oh yeah, totally forgot the biggest headache: every single thing I put on my body or even just use, I feel like I have to double-check if it’s actually safe during pregnancy. Honestly, companies don't make it easy at all; you'd think they'd actually label that stuff clearly on the packaging.
😠

Ugh, tell me about it, I totally lose my mind over this too 👎 Like, I'll grab a sandwich with deli ham (since I can't touch raw meat 🙄), cheese, and lettuce... and then later I'm sitting there thinking—wait, what if they didn't even wash the lettuce?? 😲 What about Listeria?? 😲 👎
Adam Nguyen11 said:Hmm... speaking of being noticed, now that jacket season has arrived, I had this awkward encounter on the subway where a poor woman couldn't tell if I was expecting or just gaining weight 🤣
I was bundled up all the way to my chin, standing right over her, and she was hovering there, unsure whether to move or stay put, before finally asking:
"Are you pregnant, or...?" She just left the rest hanging in the air 🤣
The poor thing looked completely bewildered 😳

Ugh, man, things get awkward so fast sometimes... 🤣

One time when I was riding the bus through downtown Chicago, this young woman hopped on; she had these super long, thin legs but an oooogormous, round belly. I was already seated, so naturally, I started to get up to offer her my spot. She just gave me this confused look and said, "Oh, no thanks, you stay seated." But the bus was absolutely packed, and knowing how bumpy those city streets are, I knew if I didn't give up my seat, I’d be dealing with some serious discomfort from the jolting for the next few miles. Plus, I thought to myself, it would be silly to make her stand for fifteen minutes just because I wanted to be polite, especially if the driver slams on the brakes and she loses her balance... so I told her, "Look, you really shouldn't be standing in this crowd in your condition," and I started to sit back down, when suddenly she snaps, "In WHAT condition?? I... I'm not pregnant!!!" and just pushes past me 🙈 😬
Kyle Mendoza said:Every now and then, I get those moments where things just let go, but honestly, it doesn't happen all that often 🙄.... Now, I’m basically built like an elephant, so there's no hiding it 😂...... The hardest part was definitely back when I wasn't even showing yet. I was dealing with constant dizziness and nausea, and you can only really get a pass if you start a fight, because visually, you can't prove you're pregnant 😂🙄

I guess my best bet for getting priority is just heading straight to the front of the line, finding the first person there, explaining the situation—since I'm still hiding the bump under my clothes—and hoping they let me through 🤔

I haven't really tested this out at a Chase branch or a Target or anything, but I have a feeling it only works with the younger crowd... they usually just let you go without making a fuss... whereas if you try that with the older folks, they probably wouldn't even give it a second thought 👎
