It might actually be due to breakthrough bleeding rather than the dose being too low....

If you’ve been taking Yasmin, you should expect some bleeding every month....The routine is basically three weeks on and then one week off, and you'll bleed during that break period. It isn't technically a "real" period, but it serves as a sort of uterine cleansing, I suppose.
