Robin Rodriguez5 said:Man, NYC is going to be absolutely packed with massive shows this June. Bob Dylan just got announced, and from what I'm hearing, there's another huge concert lined up for 6.20.

What about Wilco?
When a band actually has a drummer who can deliver that steady, driving "thump."
If they don't have that—well, honestly, there’s just no soul to the sound. It lacks depth.
That rhythmic "thump" is absolutely essential.
Ethan Cook81 said:After getting hooked by a pretty solid lineup last year, people went out and bought tickets blindly this time around—thinking Cave was just the appetizer... only to find the rest of the festival is basically a damn county fair.%

Don't talk nonsense—those local folk festivals can actually be incredible if you know what you're looking for.😬>
There’s almost zero chance we'll see Radiohead perform here. Even if they are playing in Milan this June for two days, it doesn't change much.

Honestly, even the ticket prices wouldn't be a massive deal—especially since Verizon actually managed to pull off Sonic Youth.

So, let's keep this wishlist moving—alphabetical order, because why not:

0. Arcade Fire
1. Beastie boys
2. Beck
3. Blur
4. Chemical Brothers
5. dinosaur Jr.
6. Editors
7. Foo Fighters
8. Futureheads
9. Hives
10. Interpol
11. LCD Soundsystem 12.
12. Magic Numbers 13.
13. New order 14.
14. REM
15. Radiohead
16. RATM
17. Rapture
18. Smashing Pumpkins
19. Ted Leo & R/x
20. The fall 21.
21. Violent Femmes 22.
22. Weezer 23.
23. Wir Sind Helden
24. Yeah Yeah Yeahs
There we go—starting with the big hitters, then drifting into the smaller acts... honestly, there's more than enough here to fill an entire page. And if we're lucky, maybe we get Fatboy Slim entertaining the crowd at one of the tents after the main sets. 😁

could work
I was watching one of his older DVDs recently.

He breaks down exactly how he set up his guitar and then goes through about ten different tracks.

The guy is a damn good musician.
wanderingraven20 said:Honestly, the Happy Mondays sounded way better to me on Tuesday than they did on Monday.😬

😬

Nah, I disagree—they just weren't that good to begin with.😁
Alright, I’ll weigh in too.

To be fair—they were decent enough, though the turnout was pretty thin...

Zen from Moloko with Little Sis—honestly, the music didn't quite reach the heights of what I've heard from Moloko before; perhaps it was because they were missing a bassist.

Colored Program—I managed to endure about half of their set.

Happy Mondays—just a bunch of tired people playing okay music... I couldn't wrap my head around that one guy who kept flipping everyone off and wandering around like a primate. A mascot, I suppose.😬

Sonic Youth - festival headliner—definitely the peak of the weekend. I caught the best parts on camera: the balloon popping and those Star Wars guitars.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNLZ-WEgzrA

Tuesday

Happy Mondays—caught a bit of them; the banter was interesting and the music was fine... nothing groundbreaking.

Let Stuke—listened to three songs. They seemed alright, though maybe a bit too depressing for a festival vibe like this, even if there were some fans jumping around in front of them.

Asian Dub Foundation—interesting, danceable... cool, but...

!!!—man, ADF absolutely crushed it. I have to thank Truliy for shielding me from the absolute onslaught during those first few tracks I watched. Distorted vocals and a solid drummer/drummers.

Iggy Pop—okay, nothing special. It was loud, and frankly, I was too exhausted to actually enjoy it.

As CNN puts it: great music, terrible organization.
The rain ponchos were a lifesaver. Such a shame they weren't selling any Sonic Youth gear.
Lee from SY gave me a thumbs up, <3

I had no idea the forum crowd traveled in packs (Truliy, icarus, zlimenko, naranxa, etc.). I'd love to go over there and punch anyone who tried to force me to play soccer for CNN instead of the IMF. :PrD:
yay, lonegardener14 😬

The guy from Sidewalk was incredible. And Lee? Even better.

Honestly, they seemed thrilled with how the crowd responded—it was a fantastic set. I have no idea why anyone would claim the audience was lackluster.

I only had to wait about ten minutes for my vouchers, picking them up around 6:00 PM when things were actually quiet. yay.
Kid A - Radiohead

Because it’s sitting right there next to The Bends and OKC, that idiot over at The New York Times trashed the album—honestly, he probably didn't even listen to it and just lazily ripped off some other review...

Air-10000 Hz

The early QOTSA albums? They aren't even mentioned on these lists, yet they blow this latest release out of the water.

I spent most of my night tearing up the dance floor during that eighties set—staying right in the thick of it until the crowd got too rowdy...

I was absolutely exhausted by the time the Atheists took the stage; I just slumped against the railing and crashed right next to the speakers... 🙂
Some lady ended up waking me up after their third song, so I grabbed a couple of beers and made my way back just in time to catch the end of their set...

Clinch was incredible—I was jumping all over the place in the middle of the floor. Even the president was alright, and honestly, even that ska band that opened was actually fun to dance to... Edward was... rapping... though he definitely wasn't playing the sax...

All in all, it was a pretty solid night. The venue itself is fantastic.
👍
Radiohead - OK Computer...

It isn't even about whether the record is objectively "great"—though it is—it’s more about the sheer weight of its influence on my life.
I could probably go on and list dozens of other albums right now... but honestly, I just don't have the energy for it today.
Thank goodness I don't have much of a love life to speak of—it saves me from having to waste my mental energy on all that nonsense... 😬

If that ambient mumble disappears, then

Radiohead - Moon Shaped Pool by an Apple

Otherwise, if it stays...

Nirvana - In Utero...

I probably butchered the song titles somewhere—but honestly, I don't really care...

The quiet, introspective member of the band yet the crucial creative driving force. Bit of a genius, bit of a recluse. Cracking combination.

They actually picked out a decent photo of him for this.

Man, I want to be in Radiohead too.😁>

Thom Yorke is absolutely shredding those vocals while Jonny is busy crafting all this noise—especially now that the band is singing "do they know it's Christmas time at all"

Merry Christmas everybody
