Badminton gear talk in Other Sports ·
I’m starting a new thread here. Is there anyone interested in playing a match or two a week during the early afternoon over in Queens? Honestly, I don't care about gender, age, or anything else—as long as you can swing a racket and handle a little bit of running around. 😉
My mom was about 49 back when this started—she’s 63 now—and she was only 117 pounds at 5'8"... which is actually 21cm taller than your mother, by the way. I should probably mention that she looked just like Angelina Jolie. She stayed incredibly slender her entire life—never really going over 125 or 130 pounds, except during her pregnancies—but back then, she was actually dealing with an acute ulcer and a H. pylori infection. It might be worth having you guys look into that as well.

rapidheron2 said:Hehe, you nailed it! 👍 I guess I’d throw in one more thing—why do women even bother with jeans so much anyway? Like, wouldn't wearing a skirt be way nicer? And hey, if you're really feeling the denim vibe, there are plenty of denim skirt styles out there!

🤦🤦🤦 ...and then there's also 🤦🤦🤦

Trust me, you're definitely not alone in this one. 😕
Holy Spirit in Health ·
My sister just went through a C-section at 9:25 PM—exhausting stuff—and then, wouldn't you know it, the very next morning, her mother asks her for something simple, like a toothbrush. My sister’s response? "Mom, what exactly do you think I could give you right now?"... honestly, maybe a kidney. 🙄 Then, when she was asked to grab a nightgown from the bag tucked under the bed, she shot back, "And where would I get one if you've already sent everyone else packing?" I mean, seriously, what can you even say to that?!? A huge 👎 to the Holy Spirit.
Doctor's secret in Health ·
If we’re all supposed to have a right to privacy, then why on earth does a doctor's note for sick leave include a specific diagnostic code that any HR clerk could just Google and then gossip about across the entire office? I mean, look—it makes perfect sense for the note to list the expected duration of the illness, sure, but the actual diagnosis should be strictly confidential. If an employer has some serious doubts, they can always request an audit or a review, but even then, they should only receive a final verdict on whether the medical leave is legitimate or not—absolutely nothing regarding the specific diagnosis itself.

Both my fibrinogen and TRC levels are hovering right near the upper limit of normal—and we all know that taking oral contraceptives can actually bump up the risk of blood clots for certain people.

Is birth control absolutely necessary because of some underlying medical issue, or...?

It's for acne treatment. When I'm on the pill, my skin is flawless—but the second I stop after three months, my face just goes completely haywire.
So, I’ve been crunching some numbers in my head—given a fibrinogen level of 4.3 and a platelet count sitting at 431—and considering I’m 42, a non-smoker, and deal with migraines with aura... would oral contraceptives be considered contraindicated in this situation? Thanks so much for any insight!
Right click not working in IT Support ·
I’m looking for some help here. My little one managed to go a bit wild with his hands on my laptop keyboard, and now the right button on my wireless mouse has completely given up on me—even though the trackpad works perfectly fine and my desktop mouse is doing its thing just fine, too. I’ve already tried the usual suspects—restarting the laptop, swapping out the mouse buttons in the settings menu, even attempting a full reset on the mouse itself—but absolutely nothing seems to do the trick. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Dry / Chapped Lips in Health ·
Lots of water and some Bath & Body Works or Almond hand cream—that's my go-to. It might have a bit of a greasy feel to it, I'll admit, but honestly? In my book, it’s lightyears ahead of any of those fancy ointments or over-labeled brands out there.

You don't need to write about me in the third person—it works just fine if you use "I"... and honestly, it does. I don't work for any of those companies mentioned, I don't own their stock, and I certainly don't stand to gain a dime from their sales spikes. Either you’re a bit young, a bit short on cash, or perhaps just lacking the expertise to distinguish raw materials when you claim "cotton is cotton"—because, let's be clear, this isn't even grown properly, much less processed correctly.

And honestly, you can find chocolate everywhere—from $1.25 at the local grocery store all the way to those high-end boutiques in Manhattan where they charge a fortune for... well, nothing special. It’s just basic cocoa, for heaven's sake. 🙄

I bought my first pair of Replay jeans right at the end of high school—wore them through basically my entire college years—and they finally just gave out, splitting right at the knee when I went to squat down. Honestly, I kept wearing them even then. Now? Well, I just wear them as shorts. And yes, I’m 41. 😁 So, look—they really are worth the investment... provided that "quality" isn't just a marketing buzzword these days. The ones I’m sporting right now actually date back to 2005 or 2006; I also have four other pairs tucked away, though I tend to favor trousers more often now. Back in my younger days, though, I lived in denim every single day... specifically one solitary pair that I constantly had to wash and dry on the radiator.

Personally, I’m fine with brands like Hilfiger, Replay, or Wrangler.
As for those shops you mentioned—honestly, I wouldn't trust any of them for a single piece of clothing. 😉
If you want decent jeans, you really have to be willing to shell out some actual cash—you can't just expect to find top-tier denim for $149 or $66 and hope they won't lose their shape, sag at the waist, pull at the legs, or bunch up uncomfortably in the crotch area.
What does that even have to do with anything? We’re talking about a specific disorder here—why on earth would anyone open a whole new thread for it??? She wasn't just digging up some random question from seven years ago, either; she was simply sharing her own struggle and asking for some help or advice.
Is this actually true? in Health ·
DNA, genetics, genes, chromosomes... honestly, it can all get pretty confusing—and it’s entirely possible the doctor phrased things a bit clumsily, which might have led your friend to misinterpret things when she told you. Or maybe she just got the details a little mixed up. But if we're talking about an amniocentesis just to establish paternity... well, that isn't exactly a minor or risk-free procedure. It would be much simpler, far less invasive, and significantly more affordable to just run the tests once the baby is actually born.
Is this actually true? in Health ·
DNA, chromosomes, genes... we’re talking middle school biology here. It’s a given that you can identify genetic disorders or chromosomal abnormalities—that part is straightforward. But now, I’m going to throw 🤦 into the mix.
I won't start a whole new thread since this is really more about diagnostic procedures, so I figured I'd just ask here. Does surgical staff in our hospitals always use gauze sponges with RTG detectable fibers? We’re currently dealing with a bit of a nightmare—there's a suspicion that a sponge was accidentally left inside my sister after her C-section. To make matters worse, the doctors can't seem to agree on anything—one OBGYN claims they can see it clearly on an ultrasound, another is insisting we get an MRI, and then a third one tells us it won't show up on either ultrasound or MRI, only on an X-ray... honestly, it feels like everyone is losing their minds. 😢Thanks in advance!
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
My mom went to see the specialists at Mayo Clinic... and honestly, she couldn't say enough good things about them. She had her gastroscopy done there—and let me tell you, compared to what we've dealt with before, the difference was night and day.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I’m not entirely sure if this belongs in this specific thread—it feels a bit out of left field—but I figured I’d give it a shot here. My sister and her husband have been on this endless, exhausting hunt for a primary care physician over in Forest Hills, but every single clinic they visit just gives them the same old brush-off: "We aren't taking new patients." It’s incredibly frustrating. So, she decides to call Medicare in Brooklyn to get some clarity—you know, to find out which doctors actually have openings or haven't hit their maximum patient cap—and the folks on the other end tell her that everyone is available! Honestly, who is actually making sense here? Is there some sort of disconnect in the system? Can doctors even legally do that—saying they're full when Medicare says they have space? And more importantly, how am I supposed to walk into one of those offices, tell a doctor that Medicare claims they have room for us, and somehow maintain a decent, professional relationship after basically calling them out? 😕
