Why can't I read user posts?

So, whenever I click on a specific user to try and dig up their old posts, I just get hit with this pop-up window:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I know for a fact I used to be able to browse through anyone's post history without any issues. Did they change something on the site recently, or am I just tripping?

It looks like I’m running into the exact same issue... 😢 I can't even manage to pull up my own posts when I try to check out the statistics in my profile...

It is possible the site has been down for a while now. If you had checked the forums earlier, you would have seen the status updates.

I’d suggest tweaking the wording a bit:

Dear users, the search function has been temporarily disabled. It should be back up shortly.

Thanks for bearing with us.

The search function eats up a ton of server resources, so that’s likely why it’s disabled. This forum crashes pretty frequently too, probably because it's just massive.

I can't help but wonder what kind of server setup they're running here.

You can run a search by using Google (don't forget those quotation marks): "nickname" site:americanforum.com

The results come back looking a bit like mush—if you can even call them that—but I suppose anything is better than staring at a blank screen, isn't it? 👍

The forum is going downhill fast... constant crashes and logging back in is becoming a total pain. It’s exactly how Netscape used to go before it finally kicked the bucket.

If things don't start looking up pretty soon, this whole forum is going to go belly up.

It isn't even all that bad, really! You can always just sort your search results by date to find what you need. The only little hiccup is that it doesn't always pull up the most recent posts instantly, as I assume it takes a little bit of time for Google to index everything properly.

I’m trying to figure out why I can't access some people's older posts. Every time I try, I just get a "you don't have permission" error message.

Man, how am I supposed to track down those old threads that just vanished into thin air? No clue where they went!

Are we just collectively deciding to ignore post #12 now, or what? Lol. Seriously though, that method works like a charm—zero issues on my end. You can even dive into the advanced search settings to tweak everything exactly how you want it.
