Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
nimblehound16 said:Hi everyone!
I am looking for some advice regarding my menstrual cycle. I am 30 years old, and my periods have always been quite regular—usually a 30-day cycle with bleeding lasting about 5 to 6 days. (For context, I had a C-section about three and a half years ago.) Everything with my gynecological exams has been perfectly normal up until now, including a Pap smear from just a few months ago that came back clear. However, last month my period didn't arrive on schedule. A few days before I expected it, I had to take an antibiotic, Augmentin, to treat a throat infection. This month, my period arrived on time, but while I was mid-cycle, I had to take that same antibiotic again due to a high fever and another sore throat. My period lasted five days, but then it started all over again, and it has been going for three days now. It isn't heavy bleeding; when I am resting, there is almost nothing, though it seems to pick up a bit whenever I am moving around, but even then, it isn't excessive. I called my gynecologist today, and they scheduled me for an appointment on June 4th, advising me to monitor the situation and to head to the ER if the bleeding doesn't stop by Sunday.
Please, if anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Hi ladies... I actually managed to figure out what was going on. I went in for an exam since the bleeding wouldn't stop and had become quite thick and mucousy, with little clots. It turns out I have a cyst on my right ovary, measuring about 4.5 x 2.1 cm. For the first week, I was prescribed Celebrex, and now I am taking Dobroston for a week. My doctor explained that once I finish the Dobroston, my cycle should regulate itself, and the hope is that the cyst will drain along with my next period. I am really hoping that is the case...😢

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some perspective regarding my menstrual cycle. I’m 30 years old, and typically my cycles are quite predictable—usually lasting about 30 days with a period duration of five to six days. (For context, I had a C-section about three and a half years ago.) Up until now, all my gynecological exams have been perfectly fine, including a Pap smear from just a few months ago that came back clear. However, things took an unexpected turn last month when my period didn't arrive on schedule. Right before I expected it, I had to take Ospamox bid 1g because I was dealing with a throat infection. This month, my period arrived on time, but during the flow, I ended up needing that same Ospamox again due to a high fever and a recurring sore throat. My period lasted its usual five days, but then it started up again, and I’ve been bleeding for three days now. It isn't heavy; in fact, when I'm resting, there is almost nothing, though physical activity seems to trigger some spotting, even if it isn't profuse. I reached out to my gynecologist today, and they scheduled me for an appointment on June 4th, advising me to monitor the situation closely. They also mentioned that if the bleeding doesn't stop by Sunday, I should head to the emergency room at the hospital.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? I would truly appreciate any advice or insight you might have. Thank you so much in advance.

Ever since we first decided to start trying for a baby, it took us about a year and a half before we finally conceived...👍
