Sure, it might be acting up occasionally... but I honestly don't notice anything unusual regarding the processor's performance. In my estimation, there shouldn't be any cause for concern here.
Joseph Carter9 said:From what I can gather, that blue vent on the side is blowing directly into it; it isn't so much that the Sonic lacks airflow, but rather that the blue vent is positioned a mere centimeter or two away—which is practically touching it. It would be far more logical if one vent were mounted directly onto the Sonic itself, while the blue one was repositioned to blow in the opposite direction.
As for the temperature... hmm... perhaps somewhere in the 140-150°F range.
And yes, your chassis is incredibly small; that large Sonic just makes the whole thing look even more cramped.
My intention was for the case to serve as a centerpiece, so I am currently painting it. I haven't settled on a color scheme yet, but I plan to add a potentiometer at the top and carve a large ATI logo into the bottom; it’s going to require some fine detail work with a small saw. Besides, if people managed to squeeze an X2 into a build like this without even using a J-channel—not to mention doing it in a CF—then I certainly don't need to worry about running out of room!😁
Here are the temperature readings for you to examine. It is worth noting that the clock speed is currently idling at a mere 2.4 GHz; had I pushed the frequency higher, these temperatures would undoubtedly be even more elevated. My plan is to acquire an additional fan, reposition the existing one correctly, and finally configure the entire setup according to proper specifications:
wiredmarlin5: It was certainly intentional... don't worry... I am well aware that wasn't the intended outcome..😁 I am just sitting here waiting for my new liquid cooler to arrive. And since you all seem so eager, here are the temperatures!! Just a quick snapshot for you.
I will be posting photos of my PC modding project shortly; please give me about 45 minutes to get everything ready. I assure you, the end result will be worth the wait...😁😁😁
I have acquired the Sears Tower chassis along with two additional neon components, so I shall be photographing the build shortly to demonstrate what true PC Modding actually entails... expect to see the images in two or three days.
You can find similar narrow plastic tubing in various colors at Spotify, and they aren't nearly expensive enough to $13 justify the effort of digging through all those cables!!!
Greetings. I have a specific inquiry regarding hardware modification... I am planning to replace the standard incandescent indicator bulb currently signaling HDD activity with a high-efficiency LED diode. My question pertains to the exact voltage supplied by the motherboard to the indicator circuit; I need to ensure I purchase a component with the correct voltage rating to prevent damage. If anyone happens to possess this technical specification or could direct me toward a reliable resource or datasheet, I would be most grateful.🙂
Well, alright... I suppose I’ll give it a shot... but am I really going to feel the regret of hacking away at a brand-new power supply, even if it's just two DVI wires? 😁 Ugh... but man, I want to get that cooler installed so badly!!!! Moro, you're going to have to cook up some kind of workaround!!!
I have been giving this some thought... I’m looking at that Fortron power supply and thinking how sharp it would look with a blue 120mm LED fan installed. However, there are two specific hurdles holding me back from pulling the trigger. First, regarding this standard fan:
will it actually fit in the space currently occupied by the stock cooler, or is the chassis geometry shaped differently? Has anyone attempted a similar swap or does anyone happen to know the dimensions? The second issue is the connectivity. Is it a direct connection to the power supply unit, or does it utilize a 3 or 4-pin connector—much like the current cooler, which uses a 3-pin setup for speed control?
Joseph Carter9 said:Seriously, tell me—is there anything left inside that chassis that you haven't already stripped? I mean, it feels like you've systematically dismantled absolutely everything.😬
Not a single thing remains, my friend... just a hollow metal skeleton now. My next step involves cutting out some panels to make room for glass inserts. I have double-checked all the measurements against my blueprints, so everything should align perfectly once the components arrive. Currently, I am just waiting on the glass itself. This isn't going to be your standard pane, either; the glazier recommended reinforced ballistic glass for this build. Apparently, the lead time for a custom order coming from Italy is about two to three weeks, so I am stuck in limbo for a bit.😁😁😁😁
As soon as it arrives, I will take some high-quality photos and post them right here on the forum! Sounds good... let's give this beast a proper christening when it's done.🙂

Are you even looking at the monitor? Isn't that fluorescent light blinding you? 😬
Thanks, 🙏 Edward Peterson70. Regarding the issue of staring at the screen... the glare isn't an issue because I can simply turn those fluorescent lights off 😁... so that's a non-issue... more images will be coming soon... I just need to upload them to Google Photos 🙂
Look, folks, I will be the first to admit this isn't exactly a gourmet meal, and visually speaking, it’s far from a masterpiece... however, when hunger truly takes hold, this will certainly do the trick.😁😁 More updates to follow later today. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2541/dsc00505je5.jpg
I have one photo on my phone where the quality is somewhat lacking, but if you all are interested in seeing it immediately... well, here it is! I'll give it a shot.
Look, I’ll tell you what—you’re going to end up regretting that decision. Honestly, you’re overthinking this when neon lights are incredibly cheap these days. You can easily pick up a set for maybe ten bucks, and most of them even come with a two-year warranty included.
To be perfectly honest, that window of yours is far too small... or rather, the transparent section itself is just too limited. You could install a neon light, sure, but it won't carry much weight if there isn't enough surface area to show it off. You might consider picking up an aftermarket side panel; they aren't exactly a massive investment. I spent a whole day browsing at Apple $12... honestly, it’s a trivial expense! Furthermore, once those custom panels are installed, the visibility of the neon will increase significantly, which will greatly enhance both the clarity and the overall aesthetic impact of the lighting effect 😉
The chassis itself seems adequate... I believe I recall seeing a similar model at an Apple facility... though I don't recall any mention of a transparent side panel or even a bit of Plex Where exactly do you intend to mount the neon light? Please, provide a photograph so we can actually evaluate the placement.
