I actually called my bank to verify the information. At first, there was some disbelief and a bit of panic; they even had to call supervisors to confirm who I was. Once they realized this wasn't an official security audit or some kind of actual issue, they told me straight up that this whole thing about reversed PINs is completely false.
If anyone actually tries to follow this trick, the only thing they'll end up with is getting robbed.
