Well, damn, if you really have to ask... I don't know (though it's pretty obvious)... but hey, nice job catching me mid-brainfuck. 🙂
Now you've officially got me riled up. 🙂 😁

I don't even know why I bother... that whole post was a joke, but it looks like you either live in a bubble or you're fifteen and haven't quite grasped how irony works yet...🤷

Carl Mendoza4 said:Of course it doesn't make sense. If you actually got the difference, we wouldn't be having these kinds of threads in the first place.☕

What kind of threads though??

Honestly, I’m not even surprised. Not one bit. ☕

Look, if you’ve got something to say, just say it straight. Skip the games. My last sarcastic post was aimed at those die-hard sports fans who won't shut up about "proving their patriotism"—honestly, just thinking about that level of delusion gives me an upset stomach. So, there's really no point in you quoting me just to lecture me on the difference between genuine national pride and actual extremist fanaticism. I already get it.☕

And since some people—exactly like you—can't seem to grasp that:

it’s eventually going to be written that you guys were just insecure losers
without any shame at all.

Man, Barack Obama... if you're over 15 years old, you've officially lost the plot... seriously, this whole 👋

There won't be any relaxing on the couch for us... we'll probably just head straight to the outskirts of Seattle wearing all black... "Hey comrade, I'll buy you a Ford, and I'll get a Mercedes for Ante Pavelić"... 🤣Larry Rivera83😂 this goes for you too...🤣😂

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, blueridge32... we've gotta find some way to prove our American roots, right?☕

Heads up to all you Seattle-native fans planning on hitting the West stands for our next home game against the Los Angeles giants...☕

Since we pulled off that scarf choreo a few derbies back, the plan now is a strict all-black dress code. We’re paying homage to those legendary American fighters from the 40s—the Black Legion... respect and glory to them...🙏
We're also prepping a specific display for the 41st minute, and the chants are going to stay strictly on theme with the whole performance (so, look up some of those old-school anthems online to make sure you hit the right notes)... we aren't letting those big-city snobs from New York lecture us about our identity, either...☕

So, I'll see you at the stadium. And don't forget... high up in the stands, the old banners fly proud...👍

Jacob Newman74 said:It automatically contributes to the apathy of those "casual" fans drifting toward the West. No matter how much people try to spit on them, belittle them, or push that "if you don't show up for Inker, don't bother coming at all" or "you aren't Armada, go sit in another section" attitude, these situations clearly show how much the Armada actually needs them. Without them, the core of the Armada isn't enough to keep from sinking even further... whether they want to admit it or not.

I’m not talking about those casuals, though. They aren't going to crawl toward the Kop anyway, let alone join in the singing. Nobody is forcing them to be there, and nobody is giving a damn about them. Even if they did pull away from the West, they haven't really filled the other sections to make up for it...🤷

Jacob Newman74 said:Furthermore, a lot of people drifted away from the West during the "Zilic situation." I wouldn't want to reopen that can of worms, but in a city where 80% of people lean left, where the war was barely felt, where most people couldn't care less about the Axis-occupied territory or old wartime factions, and where most people stopped seeing certain groups through that lens fifteen years after the war ended... starting this massive push for extreme nationalism and right-wing rhetoric in a city like that is a complete disaster. It's all just an attempt to prove something to other groups who have successfully convinced us we're living in a "hostile city." Whether anyone admits it or not, for most young people in Cleveland, that kind of behavior and those attitudes are just plain stupid. Naturally, it kills their desire to show up at the West and cheer.

Moving on... regarding the Zilic case, let's just say some people felt threatened or pushed out. Regardless of how it ended, while that whole thing was going down, you could still see the West and the Kop packed with over 500 hardcore fans, and the away games were better than ever...
Here we go again with the mentions of left-wing vs. right-wing demographics... personally, I'd say 70% of the people in this city don't give a shit about old political divisions, and you can run whatever math you want with the remaining 30% who actually care...☕
It's also pretty dumb to bring up the nationalist stuff now, because everyone knows the Armada was at its absolute best when it was led by guys who leaned into that identity—guys who actually had shrapnel in them from the war. Back then, at small local matches, some guy would just stand up and lead a chant that half the crowd would follow without question...
Besides, your constant bringing up of that old-school extremism just doesn't sit right with me. We have a new leadership now that couldn't care less about politics or these left-right divides. Honestly, they find the whole topic repulsive.☕

Jacob Newman74 said:The generational shift is just another mess the armada is dealing with. Over the last three or four years, the younger crowd has basically taken the reins, and everything has started moving in a totally different direction. They aren't necessarily good or bad, but we used to pride ourselves on being different from everyone else, whereas now everyone else is deciding who we should be. That’s a massive downside for the new armada—slowly but surely losing its soul and identity. And let's be real, you can't live off past glory forever.

I don't even know what to tell you. We're living in this new era where the internet makes everything instant; everyone knows everything, and everything is accessible. It's hard to come up with anything fresh, and the smaller groups end up taking the hit because they lack the sheer numbers to make an impact.🤷

Jacob Newman74 said:I've seen just about everything when it comes to the cops, but if they pick someone up preventatively just for having two beers, well, screw it—that's the law, and then people won't drink. If they grab someone for setting off a flare, fine, that's the law, and then nobody's lighting flares. If the law says "don't disturb the peace," then we won't disturb the peace. Anyone thinking differently doesn't really have a leg to stand on, because you have to ask: aren't those people just showing up to games to drink beer, light flares, and look for trouble? Nobody is stopping you from showing up, standing there, singing, clapping, doing choreos, having fun, and loving your club—whether you're heading to Miami, NYC, Chicago, or wherever else to do the exact same thing. No one is banning that.

Regarding the beer thing 😁 and all that... I'll start with myself. Personally, lately, I wouldn't even show up to a game if I'd had a couple of beers, or even if someone in my group just slipped me one and I ended up smelling like it.😁
And if you've been at any home games in the last three or four, you definitely noticed the police pulling aside some of the more prominent guys from the armada as a precaution. They immediately told them there was no reason to even come near the stadium and deal with unnecessary harassment, while anyone else looking even slightly suspicious had to wait around for ID checks right in front of the cameras. Anyway...

Basically... I just hope none of this is actual targeted repression and that things will turn around once the leadership settles in and the Cleveland situation gets sorted out.😍

rustypanther said:it’s just your inability to handle new situations, plus that massive gap between the older generation and the younger ones...

Just our ignorance?...🤷
Look, man, you can't stop the inevitable. You can try to paper over the cracks for a while, but if things keep going this way, well... I really hope I'm wrong about this...☕
It sucks, buddy. It sucks when we have to give heads-up to certain groups to stay away from the stadium because they’ll definitely end up in a police van instead of the stands, just because they're a little more high-profile than everyone else...😢

Pretty soon, all we'll have left are the good old memories... 🙏 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhTTw3XI-Zg

On the cohort forum, everyone’s been tearing apart the Armada’s downward spiral for a while now... here’s a comment from demon that I think is actually well-intentioned and critical enough to give us the real picture of what's going on.☕

creedence said:Unfortunately, I don't have the time for a massive essay, but if you want to know why the Armada is struggling, it boils down to one thing: laziness, laziness, and more laziness. Also, if you ask me, the biggest issue is the disconnect between the different generations within the group. The older guys haven't really worked with the generation taking over the ORGANIZATION side of things. Organization is the backbone of any supporter group, and the Armada has been making this mistake for 15 years straight.
The Cleveland fans who are now in their early 30s—the ones who basically built the Armada into our top group back in the 96-01 era—did their job perfectly, except for one thing: mentoring the younger kids. Because they didn't, we're left with maybe 20 people showing up in the stands whenever Cleveland hits a rough patch. And I mean 20 figuratively. For a group with our history, we should have at least 300 people at smaller games when things aren't going well. That’s the bare minimum. I remember back in the 96/97 season, Cleveland was sitting right in the middle of the standings, but the Armada had 500+ people at every minor game, with huge flares displays every single match. We were even the first ones in the American league to pull out those double-pole flags—total pioneers. That vibe lasted until about 2001, then key figures started stepping away or becoming inconsistent, and the group just started sinking. It's been a series of gaps ever since.
But that’s ancient history; we need to look forward. We need more dialogue within the group, we need to tighten the ranks, and we need to move on. Like my buddy Kirac always says, every small game should feel like a new derby.
To be honest, I feel embarrassed when my friends living abroad ask me about the Armada. I don't know what to tell them, so I used to dodge the question, but now that they have the internet, I can't lie to them anymore.
The whole scene depends on it. No matter how much I push the importance of the smaller clubs, everything relies on the big players—and by that, I mean the top three (if bbb and the Armada keep sliding like this, I don't know where we'll end up).
Long live the scene.

That said, I don't think the core issue is just laziness from the new generation or the current leadership. This new leadership is actually one of the most ambitious and competent sets of people we've had; they definitely know how to talk the talk... it's just that the Armada was the first group to get hit by this modern system designed to kill off the traditional fan lifestyle, all while ignoring whatever results Cleveland is putting up on the field.☕

San Diego vs. San Francisco 0-3
09/29/2008

A group of about 100 Armada members headed out to San Diego on a Sunday afternoon to back our San Francisco boys. Honestly, expectations were low, but it turned out to be a decent way to spend the day—definitely better than rotting on the couch watching some mindless reality TV show about influencers.

Some local hooligans blocked the road near San Diego early in the afternoon, so our convoy didn't actually roll toward the stadium until around 4 PM. We ended up settling in right behind the main banner with a slight delay. The stadium looked a bit refreshed, though a Tornado showed up right next to our section, which immediately sparked the usual shouting matches to warm things up. Still, we were there for San Francisco, so we stuck to our classic chants. Then, the leadership arrived via Matthew Matko to kick off the big celebration. Things went great on the pitch too; San Francisco absolutely tore through the San Diego locals. After a few missed chances, Anas buried one to make it 2-0, pulling his jersey over his head in celebration while we went wild against the fence.

Not long after that, play stopped in front of our goal. While everyone was waiting for an inbound, some guy in a San Diego jersey—supposedly known locally as Jacob S. (33)—decided he really needed to insult our mothers just to provoke us. A few of us moved closer to the fence to let him know exactly what we thought. Apparently, the cops were bored since we weren't doing anything illegal, so they decided to aggressively clear the fans off the "fence," shoving people back into place and even swinging batons at heads (!) along the way.

After sparking the conflict themselves, the police seemed almost relieved, thinking we’d scatter into the stands, but the front row held their ground. It’s hard to write this report when your friends are sitting in a holding cell being hauled before a judge like they’re the ones who attacked the police. That kind of excessive, totally unnecessary force from guys nearing 40—who should know better than to strike people who could be their own sons—is just soul-crushing.

During the police-induced stampede, witnessed by dozens of people, a few officers stood out. They were positioned in the second row, seemingly swinging batons at our guys' heads despite regulations clearly stating where strikes are prohibited. When they started making arrests, they even grabbed people who were simply trying to de-escalate the situation and talk to the authorities to calm things down. The worst part was seeing a fan forcibly dragged in front of the stands and brutally beaten by officers twice his age and twice his size—all under the watchful eyes of the home crowd and the media.

Some of the fans who got beaten—left in the stands with busted heads and cracked ribs—were actually too terrified to seek medical help because they didn't want to spend the night in a San Diego jail or face some bogus charges.

Huge thanks to Dr. Balic, who rushed to our section without hesitation to provide medical aid. He couldn't stay long, though, because the police immediately swarmed him to see if he was treating anyone they wanted to arrest. We ended up taking the gauze and bandages from the San Francisco doctor ourselves.

We barely managed to wire money to our guys in custody so they could at least get something to eat, because even that process is a mess. It seems easier for them to just pull out a baton and swing wildly with fire in their eyes, all while preaching "just don't hit them in the head, officer." But whatever, we're used to it. We'll keep showing up in bigger numbers to cheer for San Francisco. Let them beat us or throw us in jail or issue bans; our love for San Francisco isn't going anywhere.

Still, as decent citizens, we believe in a rule of law where computers can seize monitors and everything is public record, where corruption and misconduct are actually punished. Hopefully, instead of facing accusations and fines, our guys will be cleared and compensated for their injuries.

BACK OFF, DON'T PUSH!!

Note: This text was written in the heat of the moment; we hope no one faces legal action because of it. Thanks.

Low-life Navy fans and brutal cops

We’ve all become numb to the primitive outbursts from visiting "fans" long ago; they’ve basically just become part of the background noise at American soccer matches. So, instead of wasting my breath on the Navy, let's talk about their eternal rival: the police. In the 70th minute of today's game, someone on the pitch reacted to some low-brow taunting from the Navy, and the "San Francisco pride" group responded with everything they had. They swarmed the railing, trying to rain down the most colorful insults possible on that player. Naturally, the cops and SWAT teams jumped in immediately to prevent a full-blown riot. After the usual scuffle, they snatched one kid out of the crowd and dragged him behind the wall to a secluded spot to "re-educate" him. Of course, the guy tried to defend himself—and I mean *defend*, not retaliate—which is exactly when the cops went scorched earth. They hauled him back out into view and just started whaling on him with batons and boots. Once they were done, they escorted the visibly dazed kid out of the stadium to finish their "rehabilitation" elsewhere. Look, maybe the kid broke a rule or two, but this kind of excessive, unhinged force should be a crime in itself. Though, I highly doubt anyone will care. After all, we're told the "fans" are the real problem in American society, right?
