The Drop in Movies ·
SPOILER
I can't stop thinking about this one plot hole in the movie because I just can't make sense of it. When the mob delivers that van with the guy nailed to his hand, Bob—played by Tom Hardy—starts shaking, almost like he’s trying to physically shake off the shock. At that exact moment, nobody is even looking at him since the mobsters have already cleared out, yet there he is, trembling as if what he saw in that van was some massive trauma. 😕 Even though he's done plenty of terrible things himself.
The Drop in Movies ·
Tom Hardy looks incredibly hot here, as per usual.
Honestly, the movie felt a bit unfinished to me.
SPOILER
Think about it—his character plays it so cool and composed the entire time, right? Then suddenly, at the end, he turns out to be this cold-blooded killer obsessed with slasher tropes. Just like that, boom... a complete 180.😕 That’s really what drives the whole plot forward. I mean, if he had just stayed that polite waiter, he probably would've robbed the diner, the girl would've died, and everyone would have been slaughtered.

Edit:

Oh, and yeah, because of scenes like those, I’m still giving his performance an A.😁

I’m holding out hope that someone actually qualified and intelligent will weigh in on this, but until then, here is my question.
Does it even make sense to claim that stying active is healthy and beneficial, even when we're dealing with freezing winter temperatures?

How exactly do those first-rate advisors expect people living in much colder climates than ours to actually survive and thrive?

See, it’s possible to break this down in much simpler terms for the average person.

I honestly don't get why they used to force us to do handstands in middle school gym class. Every single time I tried it, my head would spin so violently I genuinely thought it was going to explode.

SPOILER:
What did you guys think of that ending? She just stares at those headstones, looks back at him, and that’s it. It felt kind of creepy to me, honestly. Was she just resigning herself to her fate, or is she essentially his prisoner? I might be overthinking things though, since he’s been nothing but sweet and gentle with her the whole time.

I'm trying to get through this, but honestly, it feels incredibly pretentious and just plain boring. I barely made it past the thirty-minute mark. I'll give it another ten minutes, then I'm either shutting it off or sticking with it.
A series has to be genuinely top-tier for me to even bother watching it, though I definitely have a soft spot for dark comedy.
As for movies, honestly, just throw anything my way. 🙏 Just don't give me horror; I've pretty much checked out of that genre entirely.
I had no idea essential oils actually worked like that. Honestly, instead of those ridiculous rituals—what was it, wrapping things in bacon or boiling them in milk? —it just seems more logical to chop up some garlic and breathe in the scent a few times a day.

Sure, lemon tea with honey helps clear out the throat when you're dealing with tonsillitis. And hey, if you don't have honey, plain sugar works just fine too.

When it comes to kids, you definitely don't want to risk complications since their immune systems aren't nearly as robust as ours, so you really ought to follow a doctor's advice regarding bacteria (unless they're following someone like bluegardener4, which sounds like a total nightmare).
I’m just trying to wrap my head around how this would even work. Is it supposed to be like putting a cold compress on your forehead when you've got a massive headache?
melloworca6 said:Where on earth did you get that idea?

Sure, everything you said is technically true if you're only popping antibiotics once or twice a year. But this guy has been overusing them for years, and if they’re actually supposed to be helping him, he really shouldn't be rushing back to his doctor for another round. Isn't it just basic logic that his recovery is going to drag on as long as he keeps taking them? Probiotics are good bacteria, sure, but an antibiotic doesn't distinguish between the good guys and the bad ones. If he had a healthy system, maybe things would be different, but honestly, I highly doubt anything useful could even survive in his gut after that kind of bactericide. If it can, then we're looking at a literal miracle. 🤷
steelwalker26 said:so you actually agree with me on that too, then😁

Obviously.

I love garlic, but only when I don't have anywhere to be. You should see my take on tikka masala: http://www.coolinarika.com/preview/r...-tikka-masala/

That white stuff isn't cheese. 😬
Don't you realize it’s critical that you don't take antibiotics at the exact same time as this stuff?
It feels like you’re just skimming through this because you clearly missed all the thumbs-up I gave your posts. I couldn't even remember if your comment was actually about probiotics or not; I just assumed it was, but honestly, I couldn't be bothered to double-check. My bad.

Garlic works. Besides, when you're actually sick, you aren't exactly out hitting the town anyway.🤷
So you don't think she's doing anything wrong, yet you're busy lecturing us? 😕 Okay.

But you walk onto this forum and spin this entire saga about some unnamed colleague on a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with the smell, which is the definition of being a hypocrite. 🤷

Yeah, spare me. We get it—you despise social norms—but you aren't going to spare this poor woman from the gossip and the whispering behind her back, are you? You won't just look her in the eye and tell her what the actual problem is.

That said, looking at your other posts, I actually agree with you on this topic. 👍

I also wanted to tell the Google employee that if he can afford probiotics, he might as well grab some vitamins too; after all, like someone mentioned, all those antibiotics have wrecked his gut flora, which is vital for vitamin absorption, and without vitamins, you can kiss your immunity and health goodbye. Maybe that’s even the main reason you're constantly catching colds.
bluegardener4 said:My trips to the doctor always follow this exact same predictable pattern: I show up, they take one quick look at my throat, declare it inflamed, and immediately prescribe an antibiotic. Then, they just glance back at whatever they gave me last time to decide which different pill to throw at me now. Is it really that simple?

So, he honestly thinks it’s perfectly fine to prescribe seven different antibiotics in a single year? 😢
Someone really needs to strip that guy of his medical license. Then maybe they’ll stop acting so surprised when MRSA starts popping up everywhere. 🙂
melloworca6 said:We don't exactly hand out participation trophies like that over at the local health clinic. 😁 Look, you can demand whatever you want, but nobody here owes anyone an explanation. 🤷

I spend most of my time hanging out on ŽK, where there’s this strangely laid-back vibe that you just don't find anywhere else. Every now and then, I’ll wander over to some random thread based purely on how catchy the title looks, only to find myself wondering why everyone is so quick to start handing out warnings, red cards, and deletions like it's their job?
melloworca6 said:So you've got maybe two or three options left, right? And one of them is an absolute disaster of a doctor, while the other two are completely overwhelmed because everyone is fleeing that incompetent hack. What exactly are you supposed to do then?
...

He could have just explained himself properly if he actually wanted to be understood, don't you think? We have no way of knowing if he even has the option to transfer out. If he does, he needs to run for his life before this place completely destroys him.

Either they should just stop overreacting to every little inflammation and stay home to rest instead.
melloworca6 said:The people they’re suggesting as alternatives aren't any better than he is, and besides, what are we actually working with here—maybe two or three doctors at most?

I’m going to go ahead and bite my tongue for a second because I just brought up that website that relies entirely on subjective patient reviews, but how can you be so certain everything is actually bad if you haven't even bothered to verify it yourself? Don't people realize that someone else's story is often just an exaggeration?

If I’d actually had access to decent doctors, I would have switched specialists ages ago or driven to a different city for a second opinion without thinking twice. Isn't it true that once you lose your health, getting it back is one of the hardest things you'll ever face?
steelwalker26 said:Look, you don't have to take my word for it, but someone really needs to say this out loud.

Did you say the exact same thing to your coworker, or are you just too uncomfortable to be honest here?
melloworca6 said:If they don't feel like answering the questions, then they don't have to.

Look, you’re a moderator, so I won't push my luck too much here. But honestly, don't you think it's vital that he actually answers? How else is anyone supposed to offer anything more useful than those tired, cliché tips about "boosting your immune system"? He doesn't owe us an answer, obviously, but surely I'm allowed to press the issue—provided nobody decides to ban me for asking the same thing twice, right? It feels strange that such a persistent question is being brushed off like this, especially since it's straightforward and harmless, and his situation is quite specific based on everything shared so far. Unless, of course, there's some serious underlying condition known only to him and his doctor, but if that's the case, then this entire thread and the question itself become completely pointless. You see what I mean?
melloworca6 said:Sure, that’s exactly how things work in a total utopia.

What does that even have to do with anything? Even in the middle of nowhere, you still have access to a couple of general practitioners, and you can actually switch doctors if you want—it’s not like we’re living in Russia where your physician shows up at your door four times a year on a train.
melloworca6 said:The reality is that certain doctors just file their own complaints and keep on practicing regardless of the backlash or formal reports because they have such massive institutional backing behind them that you honestly can't touch them.

Yeah, and? Is the solution just to stop reporting them? By the way, there's that site Healthgrades now where anyone can leave a review for their doctor. It’s not exactly huge, but it's a start.
melloworca6 said:Let’s be honest: you can go to certain doctors asking for specific tests or detailed explanations, and all you're going to get in return is a polite way of telling you to shut up and deal with it.

He’s got a keyboard for a reason, so why shouldn't he just type it all out himself? Is it really such a crime to point out that a doctor isn't being cooperative, or to refuse to explain why they feel the need to prescribe such an endless string of antibiotics?
melloworca6 said:Welcome to the real world.

Thanks, but I’ve got a pretty good grasp on how the real world actually works.
bluegardener4 said:I honestly have no clue which question I supposedly failed to answer. 🙂

steelwalker26 said:If you actually bother to read this entire thing, you'll see I’ve been trying to make sense of why this doctor is so obsessed with handing out antibiotics like candy, especially when the patient is clearly dealing with viral symptoms and hasn't even been run through a single test or given a shred of actual medical insight. What exactly is being cured here?I honestly find it hard to believe that this is actually happening. bluegardener4 didn't even bother to answer—is he genuinely clueless, or is he just refusing to come clean? 🤷

...

I still can't wrap my head around one thing, I’d really love to hear what bluegardener4 has to say about this, wouldn't I? What exactly does your doctor tell you when they're handing over a prescription? Whether you’re looking at a paper file or a digital record, your medical history should clearly list the diagnosis codes that justify every single prescription you've been handed. Why not just demand to see them? Or better yet, ask for a straight explanation as to why they've chosen this specific course of treatment for you. I mean, seriously, these doctors are being paid by our tax dollars to do a job; they aren't some high priests who are above questioning or immune to accountability.

I honestly don't think you can miss him at this point.

So, this is all we got from you?
bluegardener4 said:steelwalker26 — The record is on my computer. I’ll look for the printout once I finally retire (which should be any day now).

But let me ask you this: do you even have a clue what his actual diagnosis is? What does that guy even do when you sit down in front of him? He runs a quick exam, scribbles some nonsense on a prescription pad, and then just tells you to get out. Get out.
bluegardener4 said:Look, I honestly don't care whether you believe me or not. If you have something useful to say, say it; if not, then just move on. That's really all there is to it.

And here we go again. Why won't you just answer the actual question someone asked you?
melloworca6 said:What part of this is unbelievable? Is it that doctors exist who just hand out antibiotics left and right without running a single test?

😕 Yeah, what's "unbelievable" to me is 1) the complete lack of explanation for all these antibiotics, 2) why anyone would stick with a doctor like that for years, and 3) how nobody has reported them yet, because if they really aren't doing any testing, they're straight-up violating medical protocols.

There’s nothing to be happy about here. When doctors act like this, it impacts everyone.
It isn’t indicating HIV, rather it’s showing inflammation, which can be triggered by just about anything.
Why are you dodging such a straightforward question instead of actually answering him?

I find it incredibly hard to wrap my head around the idea of someone being prescribed five to seven different antibiotics in a single year. Beyond the obvious fact that you're essentially training bacteria to become resistant—assuming you even have chronic bacterial infections to begin with—isn't it also true that overusing them can wreak havoc on your organs, especially when you're already cycling through multiple rounds every year?

I watched it and my first thought was, "how bizarre a film," but now I realize I'm still reeling from the experience. Part of it has to be the score and those haunting shots of that strange planet. It has this hypnotic quality, much like the scenes featuring the sun in the film Sunshine.
