You already know you can drop a chart right into PowerPoint without actually launching the full Excel application.
Besides, it doesn't even really matter, because if the numbers look a certain way in Excel, they’re going to look exactly the same in PowerPoint anyway, right?
But this whole issue is officially settled. I checked with Microsoft support about this exact thing, and they told me there isn't a direct fix—unless you want to deal with the headache of some workaround like pasting the chart as an .emf file.
The Fourth Estate (2013) in Movies ·
Just finished watching two more movies.
One was a documentary that reminded me of the fifth estate—starting off with this polished, positive image before slowly unraveling into total negativity, leaving you sitting there thinking, "What is wrong with this crazy Australian?"

The third film is a completely different beast. It follows Julian during his younger years and provides some context for his activism, which led me to conclude that he isn't nearly the lunatic people make him out to be.
I've got this client breathing down my neck, insisting that every single computer uses the exact same number separators—you know, the stuff for millions, thousands, and decimals. I already tried explaining that it all boils down to the settings in the Control Panel - Language options, but he’s not having it. He’s actually demanding that I find some way to force identical formatting across the board. It’s honestly ridiculous. In the US, we write things like 1,000,000.00, whereas over in Germany, they’d use 1.000.000,00. He wants it to automatically display using that German style regardless of whether the user sitting at the desk is an American or a German. It’s total nonsense, if you ask me.

Is there actually a way to pull this off, or am I stuck just taking screenshots and pasting them everywhere? Because let's be real, that is completely impractical and definitely isn't a real solution.
There isn't just one way to be smart, is there? You could be a total genius in one field while being completely mediocre—or maybe even a bit slow, if you ask me—in another. I remember my elementary school science teacher telling us that even Einstein struggled with basic spatial awareness and navigating his surroundings. It’s entirely possible his spatial intelligence was actually below average.

It's the exact same thing with those brilliant PhDs out there.
briskeagle11 said:Hey everyone,

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on what I actually need to look out for when licensing Office 2010 for a small business? I'm trying to figure out price ranges, where the best place to buy is—maybe eBay?—and whether we need to keep specific documentation or stickers handy for an audit. What else should be on my radar?

I've tried digging through this thread, but I can't seem to find everything I'm looking for, and I'm in a bit of a rush since my boss is breathing down my neck about it. Thanks in advance.

You just have to figure out which features you actually need versus what you don't, otherwise you'll end up wasting money on a Professional package if half those tools are just going to sit there unused.

You can grab Microsoft Office 2013 over at microsoftstore.com for pretty decent prices.
As for what you need to show during an audit, why not just ask Microsoft customer service directly on their website?

Yes.

It feels like you're looking at this too literally without grasping the historical context. Without that background, the whole story gets lost in the details.

I don't get what the big deal is about killing a firstborn. Seriously? Do you even read your own nonsense before you post it?

The description of killing children there is pretty damn explicit, isn't it? You don't exactly need to be Einstein to grasp the meaning when it says God is going to pass through the houses and slaughter every firstborn, yet here you are, trying to wiggle out of it however you can.

The sheer nerve is unbelievable. After America spent over a millennium building its foundation on reason through Christian faith, we have these bold individuals spitting on our entire heritage while claiming they only care about logic and science. They try to monopolize both, acting as if everyone else is either dim-witted or unstable, and they're the only ones who are sane and smart. You can only reach such a narrow view of logic and a stripped-down, sanitized version of science to support an atheist worldview. It makes me wonder: do atheists believe this because they're being arrogant, or have they simply not thought deeply enough or read nearly enough books?

Why don't you start by reading the Bible yourself, specifically those parts where God kills newborn babies? That's what you call being rational?

casualgardener17 said:I’ll get straight to the point—and I’m not trying to turn this into a religious debate... but I’ve reached a stage where my perspective shifts by the minute. One moment I’m an atheist, the next I’m a theist.

I've realized that when I lean toward atheism, it's actually fueled by frustration. It's this underlying anger that God doesn't exist because then there's no cosmic justice to satisfy what I feel is right—you know, the whole "why is there suffering?" or "why does this happen?" thing. Since I'm doing fine personally, I assume everyone else must be too, and if they aren't, then God just can't exist. But honestly? That feels like pure ego and narcissism. We always tend to view everything through our own lens whenever we feel wronged...

Besides... what’s actually wrong with following the path of Jesus or anyone else who lived by those principles? There’s nothing wrong with "treating others how you want to be treated" or "forgiving those who hurt you."

Yet, you see the leftists and atheists constantly preaching about "logic, reason, and tolerance"... while in reality, they are the ones rejecting things like Jesus, consciousness, and basic ethics—whatever label you want to slap on it.

So, to wrap this up... I think many atheists are essentially just narcissists. They preach ethics, yet because they can't seem to move past their own egos, they struggle to truly help anyone else—no matter how much they claim to care.

Look, people... don't go thinking you're the smartest person in the room. Best, 😍

You can live by those principles just fine as an atheist.

I watched it back when I was just a kid. One of those movies that really sticks with you.
I’ve no idea which version of Word you're running, but why make it harder than it needs to be? Just head over to References > Table of Contents > Custom Table > Modify and then tweak the settings for TOC 1, 2, and 3...

My business plans and what I intend to build in the near future—why does any of that even matter?
Just save it as a .txt file so you can open Notepad and grab everything. You'll lose all your formatting—fonts and all that nonsense—but if you want fast and easy, that's your best bet. Which website are we even talking about here?

I’ve already moved up to Windows 8. Honestly, I don't really care about missing out on those three extra partitions because, at the end of the day, Windows 8 feels just like Windows 7, aside from that redesigned Start menu (which isn't exactly a game changer). My only real gripe is this massive amount of unallocated space that I can't seem to format or actually use for anything. 😠

Thanks, Gregory Green62. It’s working perfectly fine.

Unfortunately, I hit a wall trying to install Windows 8 on a new partition. It gave me an error saying I've reached the maximum number of partitions allowed—I assume it's talking about primary ones? Now it won't even let me format the unallocated space because it claims I won't be able to boot the computer if I go through with it.
Adobe Creative Cloud in Software ·
I was looking yesterday for an option to just buy a single piece of software as a standalone download, but there’s nothing. The only thing on offer is Adobe Creative Cloud, except they don't even offer student discounts here in the States. You're stuck paying for the whole suite at $95 a month or about $600 a year.
Then you look at retail prices where a single app like AI or Ps runs you around $450 to $500.

Is anyone else here actually subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud? Does the subscription feel like a rip-off to you? Do you even touch all those programs included in the bundle? Is there any kind of loyalty discount when you renew next year? Or do you think it makes more sense to just grab individual software rather than bleeding money for the full package every single year?
The Zero Theorem in Movies ·
It’s a good movie. My issue is that I tend to take films like this a bit too literally, so I struggle to grasp the deeper subtext, though I think what 'The Board' explained toward the end hits the nail on the head.

Jamie Turner80, I always enjoy reading your reviews. 👍
I honestly don't think there's much heavy lifting involved when it comes to the actual animation for South Park, especially if you compare it to those high-budget animated features that look absolutely stunning. But if you really want to understand what goes on behind the scenes, you should check out this documentary. It gives you a pretty solid look at how the whole process actually functions from the other side. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2076781/

My computer came pre-installed with Linux, but I went ahead and installed Windows 7 separately right away instead of doing it through the existing OS. Even so, when I boot up, I’m not seeing a menu to choose between the two; it just forces me straight into Windows every single time.

Now I'm thinking about trying out Windows 8.1, but honestly, I don't want to deal with the headache if the drivers turn out to be a mess, so maybe I'll just partition my C drive and tuck Windows 8 away in its own space. That said, I really need a way to get a boot menu that lets me pick between Windows 7 or Windows 8 at startup—and wouldn't it be great if it also gave me the option to jump into Linux so I could finally poke around in there?
Why doesn't microsoftstore.com show that green indicator in the address bar to prove the site's identity is verified?
