Honestly, I’ve never been much of a fan of those super short tracks... I feel like a song really needs some room to breathe and develop to feel complete.

But this one? This is easily my favorite.

People who listen to heavy metal or rock—you know, just constant noise and slamming your head against a wall—are usually pretty aggressive people, whether they show it outwardly or keep it bottled up inside. I honestly can't wrap my head around what's so wrong with people who find this kind of music enjoyable.

The lyrics aren't just mindless nonsense, though; they actually have some depth to them.

Just because some frontmen have a vocal range spanning several octaves doesn't mean they're constantly screaming (and I'm not even talking about nu-metal here).

Some of those guitarists are genuinely incredible talents, too.

Maybe that's why?

I honestly think knowing what someone listens to is pretty essential if you want to figure out who they really are. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against someone who jams to > or whatever, it’s just that in my experience, those folks tend to talk about nothing but superficial stuff... and man, it gets boring fast. So, if I'm hanging out with someone, I’ll naturally gravitate toward people who aren't just chasing whatever is topping the charts. It doesn't even matter if it's jazz, blues, classical, or heavy metal. I usually end up picking people with similar tastes to mine. Sure, we won't have those ridiculous, childish "punk vs. everyone" arguments, but people just tend to bond over shared interests. It sounds a bit cliché, but I read somewhere that opposites attract through their similarities, and it feels true.
