Carol Jackson45 said:To be honest, I still live by a certain moral code that stops me from even giving some things a chance. It basically comes down to this:

I think there’s a massive difference between a band that "sold out" to a major label and someone who openly pushes Nazism, sexism, xenophobia, or any other kind of discrimination that clashes with who I am. That's why "sellout" punks can stay in my CD player, while guys like Thompson and Corba couldn't get near my speakers even if they made music I actually liked. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Fair enough, I get that, but here's what I'm really wondering (hypothetically): what if a song comes along that absolutely destroys you—like, you get chills just listening to it—but the people performing it are total lowlifes on the level of Kid Rock or Corba? I mean, straight-up xenophobes inciting people to go after minorities? Would you tell others the song is garbage, or would you keep listening anyway?
@Daniel Bailey7/">@@Daniel Bailey7 - friend is quoting someone saying: you can't set up a booth here because you're just a hierarchical organization with a massive cult of personality. Plus, we never see you hanging out at the local dive bars or the swamp.

Maybe he's lying, maybe he isn't. Either way, it's pretty hilarious.

@boldscout72/">@@boldscout72 I know he didn't cheat on June Carter Cash. But a woman is a woman, and she has feelings, no matter how much of a grouch she is... Dubravko is talented. That's all.
not even him, it's someone else :P this time he's got Burzum joining the party 😬
Daniel Bailey7 said:Wait... who was he even asking? One of the organizers or just some random punk walking by? 🤔

The organizer.
Here’s the question: how much does it actually matter if a musician is a jerk? Even more importantly, how much do you care if they don't align with your specific moral or political code? For example, if someone pops up whose music absolutely blows your mind, but they openly promote Nazism, violence against women, or something similar—would you still listen? And how did you all feel about this back when you were teenagers?

I find it kind of (sarcastic) funny how a certain segment of the (anarcho)punk scene—which is supposed to be all about individuality—actually demands that people stay "punk," meaning they have to fit a specific mold with their behavior, clothes, and whatnot. A buddy of mine recently tried to set up a booth at an anarchist book fair, and the punks wouldn't let him because he didn't "fit the vibe." 🙏

Personally, I couldn't care less what someone is like; all that matters to me is the music... Lou Reed was a total piece of work to me, yet the Velvet Underground is genius, and *Transformer* is a masterpiece. Kurt Cobain and Curtis Mayfield ended up taking their own lives and leaving daughters behind, some guys like Eddie Vedder can be total assholes (though sometimes they're great), John Lennon was a messy hippie, and Johnny Cash used to cheat on his wife with basically every woman he met, but none of that stops me from loving their music. When I was a teen, though, you basically had to fit a very specific pattern for a musician or band to even be worth listening to...

I’m honestly too embarrassed to drop my list here, so I’ll pass. You can find everything I'm listening to on my Spotify profile.
veins don't spray like that, those are arteries...

Man, you're clearly not reading the room, dude—most people are actually loving this.

NMH isn't just "punk." It’s way beyond any genre or all those other labels. NMH isn't just music; it's about the most beautiful thing gods have ever let us mortals experience...

I was hanging out at Arlington National Cemetery with my buddy from NYU today, so I'm still riding that NMH high.

The Ramones are sweet. I dig both bands, but not enough to say I'm really deep into the scene or anything. For me, the Pistols take the cake, mostly just because of how Lydon rolls those R's.
😘
we need more Photoshop!!!!

You earned it! 😉

Laura Gonzalez44 said:Nah, but I just remembered that theory where you hiccup when someone is thinking about you, so I started wondering who it could be and now I'm actually enjoying the hiccups. 🤣

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww! 😬
Plus, that’s their only punk track, and honestly, I’m totally down to blast some punk. 😛
If you've got some extra cash, feel free to slide it into my pockets. My girl hasn't been treating me too great lately.

@pule how can you say a song is bad when the guy is literally singing "I will float till I learn how to swim"?!?!?!?!? Besides, that’s their only punk track, and I’m definitely playing punk. My style rules!

Oops, totally forgot about Rubin's roar! 😍

I’d love to see a band featuring David Thomas, Black Francis, and Robert Fisher, especially if Rick Rubin produced them :debelismajlinajboljismajli:

Abigail isn't actually the producer.
He's more of a recording engineer.🙂
😬

If he's the one calling the shots on how the whole album sounds, then yeah, he's the producer—no matter what his title on the liner notes says. And hey, gentlepuma20 is being way too quiet about this one! 😬

3. The Neptunes/Brian Eno

The absolute worst producers:
1. Steve Albini
2. Steve Albini
3. Steve Albini
I was honestly just worried one of those backup singers might jump out at him—at one point, she was getting pretty close... I'd hate to see Mate run into any legal trouble because of that!
