Stormtroopers are basically pillars of the British folk-rock scene—and they’ve given us maybe the best track an old master ever wrote.

I’m not even talking about Thomas’s look—he’s not really my type, honestly, just like most guys—I mean his musical vibe. Even then, his song "People" is my favorite... it’s got this weird, clunky charm to it.

That's a really sharp observation. I’ll add two thoughts to what you wrote—first, I think the singer-songwriter thing—no matter who they are—is psychologically the toughest gig out there. It takes some serious guts to step up in front of a crowd and sing about your own mess using nothing but stripped-back music—especially when most of those folks are introverts at heart. I don't know, it just sounds way easier to have a four-piece band as backup or hide behind a billion effects and aliases to mask who you actually are.

Second, I totally agree that Thomas's music has this incredible dialectic going on—that mix of being repulsive yet totally magnetic. Honestly, when it comes to that raw blend of beauty and ugliness, I’d say the only singer-songwriter who can even compete with him is Uncle Waits from his post-Heart Attack and Vine era.

This Fiery Furnaces track is such a vibe—plus it’s a total win that it stays under three minutes. I used to think they were these untouchable legends who pulled off the most ridiculous remix of a Beatles classic out there—definitely the weirdest thing in that whole shallow indie scene.

Thomas's album is solid, but honestly? He doesn't seem like an album artist to me—just like how a lot of great poets aren't really built for the novel format. You need a massive amount of mental stamina alongside the actual talent. In my book, the real sting is that Curtis Mayfield didn't come out on top here. Even then, Roots doesn't quite hit the heights of their debut or Superfluous for me.

Did you install a chip in my brain or what? Seriously, I just logged on to say the exact SAME thing—all I meant was that Vance is gonna need like a week of sick leave just to get those intro posts written his way.😁

Van Morrison at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1974.—with the masterpiece Veedon Fleece right around the corner and a setlist stripped of all the radio hits, plus a few gems teased from the unreleased Mechanical Bliss—he’s basically proving that back then, nobody could touch him when it came to pure songwriting depth.

"Now she wanna lick my plum in the evenin'
And fit that ton-tongue d-deep in
I guess that cunt getting eaten"

😁

Yeah, easily one of the best tracks from the 2010s.

Brock with Expensive taste is an amazing album too—honestly, she should've been a massive superstar after that. It’s musical, diverse... maybe even a little *too* much for some people. But clearly, she's just way too talented to blow up in these trash times, especially since she's a Black woman with actual attitude. It's honestly gross seeing how much bullshit people let Kanye get away with while she gets completely sidelined by the haters.

Supposedly, Elon Musk and Grimes were looking to hook up 😁 but they just ended up getting bloated—and honestly, she’s already called Musk out for being a total beta male... 😁 🤣 not like we didn't know already—thanks for the heads up, Azealia Banks.

Azealia Banks doesn't get hooked up with, she does the hooking up—she's just built that way, deal with it. Unlike most people, I actually have massive respect for her way of speaking and her attitude, especially since she actually has a reason to back it up. Let them insult her if they want, those absolute monsters.

.....major props on those 23 Skidoos......👍👍👍

.....honestly, seeing expert takes like this makes dealing with this kind of forum being a harsh reality a bit easier......

😉

I mean, you can say that—not that I'm being super offensive here—but only after that jerk Dennis Hall41 turned the whole place into some tacky little dive bar.😁

Arthur Brown6 said:So what. Two albums from the same year sitting in the archives—now the real question is: are we talking modern classics here, or just some percussive madness?

Man, just suggest something normal for once—maybe REO Speedwagon or Tears for Fears—before you get a headache from all this abstract nonsense.

The original version is better—definitely one of the most iconic recordings from the 90s—but honestly, this one isn't half bad either.

So, you got anything to share, Gerald Jackson48—any new tracks or whatever? I'm actually pretty curious.

Gerald Jackson48 said:There’s also a more practical reason for naming things that way—it’s just how stuff gets created. They end up being working titles that stick because nobody wants to overthink the final name, or they figure it's not even that big of a deal.

Your titles actually make sense. On the other hand—Kladfvgbung Micshk? Look, I get that a title (supposedly) doesn't matter, but you should probably pick something a person other than Timmy from South Park can actually read. Would anyone call Sgt. Pepper's best album ever if it was titled Sgt. Pepper's Stinky Asshole?

Aphex Twin track titles are basically the absolute peak of human achievement when it comes to uselessly overthinking things—like, the guy definitely vibes more with a cold Budweiser than anything Heidegger ever wrote.

If it's West Slavic, how can it be Russian?

This is easily one of my favorite snapshots of rock history—just this moody, isolated gem where the glitchy IDM vibes from Amnesiac evolve into a full-blown piano ballad. You’ve got Yorke’s falsetto and the keys blending perfectly with Colin Greenwood’s bass, all layered over these raw, spontaneous bursts of crowd energy... it turns four minutes of music into something absolutely stunning.

Nah, that list just doesn't hit for me—I'm more about Azealia Banks, Primal Scream, Aphex Twin, Arctic Monkeys, and Mudvayne. But honestly, Moon Pix is my absolute favorite.

Just my vote for Powerful Cat because they absolutely have to win—even though I’ve got at least 4 or 5 other albums that totally deserve it.

Logic - Wu Tang Forever ft. Wu-Tang Clan

I read somewhere he actually stepped away from the industry a few years back to focus on family life. He's pretty famous for that fast-paced flow.

Seriously good track—listening to it for the second time now.

Logic isn't going super fast here, but he's definitely convincing. Honestly, I don't even care if a rapper is fast or not. Still, the first verse holds its own against this legendary crew for a reason.

I don't know, I just can't help but pay attention to the lyrics when it's top-tier hip-hop. You shouldn't overlook them either—it's like listening to a band where ten different musicians are all shredding on their own instruments, except here they're using their voices and wordplay. If I miss a line, that's on me. For me, the standout in this killer track (which I totally expected) is probably Ghostface Killah with those bizarrely brilliant lines—tons of multi-syllabic rhymes, internals, and whatnot:

Push weight, this Colgate, tre-eights and old gates
Exfoliate those we most hate, we don't associate
We wear robes that you can't even pronunciate
We eat foods where you can't even pronounce you ate
Cribs where The floor Just rises up and rotates Locations low-key
Locations low-key, can't even locate
