How to trim an MP3 file? in Software ·
mellowrider21 said:Since we're already diving deep into the MP3 rabbit hole...
does anyone actually know where to find decent codecs for MP3 files?
My computer refuses to play any of them unless I track down some specific codecs...

Give this a shot: http://www.codec-download.de/modules...p=getit&lid=93

This whole setup only works if you steer clear of Internet Explorer and stick to Firefox or Opera, though I see you're already making moves on Unix, which is miles ahead of any standard PC in terms of security.👍
Essentially, you've got the Unix machines, then Linux, then Macintosh, and finally the PC—but honestly, you probably already knew all that... or did you?🙄

As for that comment about the hole, that’s just my way of telling someone to get lost without having to be explicitly vulgar.

over and out

I highly doubt anyone actually cares about a Whooohohoh 😁 but apparently, this whole obsession with holes and vulgarity is your thing.🙂
anyway
Even though you've been hanging around this forum from 2002, it's pretty obvious you've been dodging the threads regarding basic decency and actual security.😉 So, let me reiterate—even if it sounds ridiculous to me (again)—😳it is practically mandatory when using Windows XP to install Service Pack 2 plus a solid firewall (like ZoneAlarm or Sygate) along with an antivirus (Adware or Spybot S&D). Personally, I haven't dealt with a single virus or Trojan in the last two years because I run Sygate, Adware, and Spybot, all of which I keep updated while scanning my hard drive regularly at least once a week since I'm basically "online" 24/7. If you don't ignore security and you manage to act like a decent human being, you'll be fine; otherwise, prepare for a total system wipe or🙂

Honestly, screw this... I'm outta here, leaving this godforsaken hole behind.

Oh, come on, Roger Smith6, don't do this.🙂 Don't leave us all alone in this wasteland.🙂 If you bail on us, we're absolutely screwed—what a bunch of ungrateful people.😠.

Stop whining and just ask something specific.😉 I’ll do my best to help you out, at least (I can't speak for everyone else).👍

But regarding this:

Hey everyone,
I just finally got ADSL set up! Whoooho!

...that wasn't even really a question.😁
Which P2P client should I use? in Software ·
Here’s how my journey has played out:

-I cut my teeth back in the day on Napster.🙄
-Then came the era of Kazaa 1.0, 2.0, and so on.
-After that, it was all about eMule.
-Then BitTorrent entered the scene.
-And currently, I’ve settled into using Azureus.

Of course, if something superior hits the market, I’ll be the first to put it through its paces and see what it can actually do.😎 With my current connection—clocking in at about 1000 down / 200 up KBit/s via Comcast—I can usually knock out a 700MB download in anywhere from three to eight hours.👋

It’s none of our damn business, 😕
I mean, who here is still out there acting like they're using 56K dial-up? 🙂 That tech died a long time ago in the States, so stop living in the past.

Roger Smith6 said:Hey everyone,

I just finally got myself hooked up to ADSL! Whoooho!
So, here's the deal: please give me some recommendations for a solid firewall and maybe a program to track my data usage.
And if there's anything else essential I should have installed...
Honestly, I haven't really needed any of this stuff until now...

Oh, right—I'm looking specifically for software compatible with Windows XP.

Thanks,
Roger Smith6

And you just had to jump in here and share the big news immediately, didn't you?
Are you actually serious about having ADSL?🙂 🙏 Don't pull my leg.
👍 That's awesome, 🥳 but what kind of speeds are we talking about? 🙂 At least we won't have the whole neighborhood's phone lines going dead every time you start hitting those torrent sites or downloading movies. 😉
