Maybe try actually tidying up those cables for once.

@wiredmarlin5 of course it works

I've got C1E and EIST enabled, which is why CPU-Z is showing a multiplier of x6
Honestly, if I actually had the patience to mess around with memory timings and the FSB, I might try to squeeze out a slightly higher FSB😁RAM.

@Jason Chase10 😕

Here’s how the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 is performing on my rig

I ended up dropping about $83 on paint and all those little extra supplies, plus I blew $13 just to get those 😍 wheels

They’ve always said it’s better to have more than it is to be fast 😁

So, how much RAM are you actually running at home these days? You've got that 2gb ST, 2gb Ballistix, 2gb Dominator, and I'm betting there's probably a few more gigs of Kingmax tucked away somewhere too.

So here we go image
Passive cooling or should I just go with a fan and call it a day?

Solid work👍
I’ve been following his stuff over on the forums, along with plenty of other cool builds.

Maybe this is worth a look in Time Magazine.
Honestly, it's pretty damn hard to find anything better than what you can dig up from hardware forums.

Check out this fan grill
and then there's these filters right here

Sandra Richardson53 said:It's all "me, myself, and I"—that's basically the philosophical baseline for most people out there. It's a consciousness totally obsessed with material stuff and mindless consumption.... They might differ slightly in how "refined" they are, but it's the same deal. Food, housing, Netflix, eating, sex. That's pretty much the whole spectrum right there.

For most folks, those aren't even really "interests," they're just fundamental survival needs (well, except for the TV part), though I suppose even that's oversimplifying things, but whatever.
Beyond that basic level, you start seeing actual interests and hobbies that vary wildly from one person to the next.
Regarding that idea of "consciousness oriented only toward matter and consumption"—look, people have to work just to exist in this modern American lifestyle, and yeah, they have to eat to stay alive, but I have to point out that I’ve yet to meet a single soul who does nothing but think about those two things and nothing else.
Most people might seem that way at first glance, but once you actually get to know them, you discover these other passions and niches that everyone else tends to overlook if it doesn't happen to fit their specific taste.

and honestly, it’s not just some small-town thing... it happens everywhere in this country.

Most people out there just don't have any real interests. They live these incredibly shallow lives where they only care about two or three trivial things and barely use more than five hundred words a day. Sure, they might glance at a newspaper, but they couldn't tell you a single thing they actually read if their life depended on it. It's like they're stuck in this primitive, tribal mindset... nothing more.

Personally, I’ve got a handful of friends who actually share my interests. When we hang out, the conversations are intense, fast-paced, and actually feed my brain. Everything else? Just mindless chatter that makes me want to shut up and walk away.

But look, there are some seriously sharp, witty, and educated people on this forum with all sorts of wild interests. They write stuff that's actually inspiring. So, if your local scene is totally suffocating, you’ve found the right spot. You can find your people here in this digital space instead.

Regarding the idea that people lack interests and lead lives centered around just two or three worries—I wouldn't say that's entirely accurate.
The average American actually deals with quite a few more burdens than that, and when we talk about a lack of interest, is it that they truly have none, or just that they lack interest in things beyond their own immediate, "self-centered" concerns?
And while suggesting they look for like-minded people on the forum isn't a bad tip, I’d probably suggest they get out even more and mingle with people in the real world to broaden those horizons.

Snow White gave you some pretty solid advice there—go out, travel, meet new people,
because honestly, the absolute worst thing you can do is just retreat into your shell simply because the people around you don't "get" what you're into.
Try leaning into their hobbies or whatever they’re obsessed with for a bit; you might actually end up liking it more than you think.
It would be kind of ridiculous if every single person on this planet was interested in the exact same stuff, wouldn't it?
As for those "deep" conversations, I can tell you from my own experience that not everyone is built for that kind of heavy lifting—usually just because interests vary so much—but that’s actually a good thing. It forces you to learn about different worlds and broadens your perspective. Plus, let's be real, at your age, expecting to find a huge circle of friends who all want to dive into deep philosophy is probably asking a bit much. I went through the exact same thing since I grew up in a tiny rural town, just like you.

Honestly, you’d be doing yourself a favor by mounting the PSU above the GPUs instead of right on top of the CPU. If you stick it over the processor, that power supply is just going to end up sucking in all the hot air being exhausted from the 120mm fan behind the CPU, which isn't exactly great for cooling efficiency. Plus, giving the processors a little more breathing room for better airflow wouldn't hurt either.
You really ought to look at component layouts similar to what you'd see in a Home Theater PC, like a
something like this (though IMO, the execution here is kind of subpar):

A much cleaner setup, though it does demand a bit more real estate:

And then there's a third option—putting the PSU above the graphics cards. That could actually work quite well, provided you have a taller case to accommodate it (I couldn't track down a decent photo for 😁 ):

I’m not entirely sure, but I have a feeling we might end up creating some kind of unwanted air vortex here
basically looking like this:
image

The simplest way to fix that would probably be something like this:
image

As for my own build, it's currently sitting in limbo because I have zero interest in just scavenging a motherboard tray from some random old PC case
I really want to go with a full-wood aesthetic instead, which—let's be honest—is turning out to be a much bigger headache than I anticipated.

I’m a little concerned about this airflow setup, honestly. You might want to try cutting some intake vents right underneath the PSU and the hard drives, just so you can pull air across the motherboard toward the back of the case.
Maybe just rotate the fans 90° to the left and cut some slots on the bottom side so they stay hidden from view.

Honestly, you don't need to stress about it snapping. I've pulled mine off more times than I can count, and even though I was convinced it was going to crack every single time, it’s held up just fine.
Who would've guessed that Microsoft would actually put this much quality into their stuff? 😂
PC Modding in Desktops ·
I know, but honestly, it’s actually pretty convenient when you need to pop the cover off

Just so we're clear, if you end up ripping something apart while doing this, I'm officially washing my hands of any responsibility 😬
PC Modding in Desktops ·
When you're ready to pull that mask off, just grab it from the bottom edge—there’s plenty of room right there to get a good grip and tug it away.
