Anyone heading to Bagadur's seminar? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·

Man, how many excuses are you gonna cook up just to avoid showing up?

Ouanna said:Hey everyone...

I honestly think hardly anyone will actually show up for that seminar... Especially those loudmouths who act tough—they definitely won't be there. Why? Because they’re probably terrified it'll prove their "skills" are a total joke, especially since they wouldn't know Wing Chun if it hit them in the face, let alone actually studied or understood it...

Tyler Taylor6 started this whole thread about the history of Wing Chun here in America, and Larry King37 picked up where he left off perfectly... It's true, Mr. Slago (who most of you know around here as the "legendary garage guru") was actually the one who first brought Leung Ting to Chicago, but the rest of the story isn't quite what the "official" version on these boards usually claims...

Just a quick tangent, sorry if I'm drifting off-topic by not putting the second half of this email in the right thread... 👋

So go ahead and tell us how it really went down! Everyone's entitled to their own take, and it's super important for the rest of us to see the full picture.

You're gonna show them Tan Sao, both the theory and how it actually works, right? Pretty sure that was even mentioned in The New York Times ad.

I can tell you know your stuff, though. Where'd you train, and what's keeping you from hitting the mats these days?

I seriously can't believe you thought I was Commander Che—I’m definitely not some unstable nutjob.

So, what about you? You training Kung Fu?

Peter Myers29 said:Alright, let’s hear his "expert" take... though honestly, I couldn't care less.

He probably just logged off and hopped back on with a burner account... or maybe he actually went to bed because he's got a long day teaching students tomorrow. Plus, like he said, he hits the gym for sparring three times a week and is always hitting the heavy bag, so you can't blame him if he doesn't reply right away.🙂

Maybe one of our guerrilla fighters was in attendance? If so, hit us with the deets—what was actually worth the hype and what was just filler!🙂)

The American martial artist kicked things off with some BA Gua Zhang before moving into Xing Yi Quan.

True, keeping it realistic is tricky since you don't want anyone ending up in the ER! But how'd you feel about the Aikido? It was Iwama Ryu style. And what about the Wing Chun? I thought that last stretch during the Wing Chun demo was killer.

Also, seeing that little kid from the Kempo group smash those three bricks was wild!🙂

Anyone else make it out? I was there, and honestly, it was alright. Not much of a crowd, though—I wasn't really feeling the Aikido vibe, and man, I couldn't make heads or tails of what that guy from China was teaching!🙂

The Wing Chun and Kempo practitioners were pretty decent, though.

But that urban survival stuff? Definitely the weakest part of the whole thing.

Throw me a full post to rewrite and I'll get to work making it sound like a real American wrote it. So we've got Taekwondo, Hapkido, Kenjutsu, Shorinji Kempo, Tai Chi, and that X-Out demo team lined up. I’m betting the usual suspects will roll through too—SWAT teams, ninjas, karate guys, you name it.

It's gonna be awesome! 😎

So, what's Pa Kua actually gonna bring to the table? Are we talking some serious Kung Fu? Maybe some Wing Chun, BJJ, or even Escrima?

Posted on the bulletin board... On Sunday, April 10th, 2005, at 7:00 PM, we’re hosting our massive annual martial arts extravaganza here in the States, called the "show"

Does anyone know who's actually stepping up to present or demo during the event?

Peter Myers29 said:I caught this talk show called "Sarah" on Fox recently—they were doing a whole segment on martial arts.

They had experts on everything from Wing Chun and Ki-Aikido to Kendo, Ninjutsu, and even that urban survivalist style where they practice Arnis, Kali, and Eskrima. Besides all the debating about fighting styles, they actually showed off some live demos for the Kendo, Arnis, and Ki-Aikido stuff....

Anyone else catch it?

Damir Podvinski was there representing Wing Chun—does anyone know much about his background?
