Is the "spirit" of college sports officially dead?

I was watching some highlights last night and it just hit me how much the vibe has shifted. It feels like we're watching a completely different game than the one my older brother grew up with.
Back in the day, there was this sense of loyalty—players staying put, playing for the name on the front of the jersey, and that whole "amateur" charm. Now, it feels more like a professional circuit where everyone is constantly looking over their shoulder at the next big opportunity. I get that people need to make a living, and I'm not saying they shouldn't, but I can't help but feel like the "collegiate" part of college athletics is being hollowed out.
It’s hard to get attached to a roster when it feels like a revolving door every single season. I miss the era where you actually knew who was playing for the school because they actually *liked* the school.
Do you think this shift is just a natural evolution, or have we actually lost the soul of the game?
