And thanks for the heads-up, though I’ve actually been keeping an eye on the posts over on the US board and have already stepped in to handle things myself.
In all seriousness, though, my role as a moderator involves gauging whether to steer the conversation or simply step in with a sanction to prevent things from devolving—essentially deciding if we can nudge the debate toward something constructive or if it’s about to spiral into a petty shouting match. A significant part of that assessment relies on seeing whether the dialogue continues naturally after a controversial comment, and when I see reports coming in, it serves as a clear signal to me that participants no longer feel comfortable, which is precisely when my intervention becomes necessary.
Since you’ve admitted to having a bit of a penchant for posting provocations just to see how people react, I would strongly suggest that next time you encounter something that bothers you, you just hit the report button. If you choose to call someone out directly within the thread instead, you run the very real risk of finding yourself facing a warning or a penalty yourself.

For you to make such an argument, you really ought to report the post first, which is exactly what I advised you to do. Standard practice here is to click the report icon before filing a complaint with the moderation team; given your history on this forum, I would have assumed you were already aware of that protocol.
The specific post I removed contained insults directed at me personally, specifically attacking my role as a mother—something the administration can easily verify, so perhaps you should keep that in mind before insisting that your comments weren't offensive.
To make matters worse, had that post actually contributed anything meaningful to the discussion, I would have left it untouched, just as I did with your previous posts while they still served the conversation. Once the dialogue devolved into nothing more than petty bickering, I issued a warning (though, truth be told, I hadn't even noticed this thread at that exact moment, which is largely irrelevant).
Furthermore, any claims of moderator bias seem rather misplaced, considering I am the only one who actually backed you up in this thread, even stating that I had no issue with your views despite certain parts of them being directed personally against me.
I find myself a bit perplexed by the proposal to create a dedicated chat specifically for single US-ers; after all, such a space already exists over on the off-topic board, and the general consensus seems to be that it should remain there.
Regarding the issue of penalizing those who participate in it when they perhaps shouldn't, Boo provided some clarity on that matter:

I certainly understand your frustration, though I don't have an immediate solution at hand. I would be quite interested to hear if any other members share these concerns; please, feel free to offer your thoughts or suggestions so we might collectively figure out how to ensure everyone feels truly welcome here on the US. 🙂
Do you have any thoughts on how one might actually pull that off? Even if we tracked the relationship status of every single member on this board, we can't exactly police which topics people discuss or which subforums they frequent, provided they aren't breaking any rules. 🤷
If your goal is to launch a thread on the US site specifically for singles, we could certainly give it a shot, but much like our off-topic chats, whether the coupled users decide to stay away is entirely down to their own discretion.

By the way, you have two Grosjeans listed, and I believe you overlooked Antonio Giovinazzi🐔
I suppose I’ll just go ahead and embarrass myself 🕺 It seems I have a lifelong opportunity to vie for Rookie of the Year 🧐

I realize everyone loves a good chance to play the villain or feel important, but I’m afraid I have to disappoint you—it was actually me who filed the report, otherwise we could have kept this going indefinitely 🙂 🍿
And just so I can preemptively answer Yodi's next question—no, I wasn't the one who reported the nonsense you've been pushing and threatening ☕
I find it rather charming that Josh and Lata are actually on the same side, even if their arguments are packaged differently enough to make it look like they're at odds. 😍
To be fair, both of them have pointed out that the solution should have been straightforward: just penalize the specific individuals responsible. It’s relatively obvious who those people are given how problematic their posts were, and the consensus seems to be that the chat should have remained open instead of being shut down entirely.
But as Joshua Rogers11 says, we move on; things happen, and hopefully, next time—if there even is a next time—we can handle it a bit more intelligently. 🐔
Honestly, we’re all far too cool to care about some random chat room, which explains why people are flooding the place with thousands of posts a minute just to talk about grabbing beers or heading down to Santa Monica and whatever else. Perhaps Apple opened a bottle of wine for an anniversary tonight and felt like socializing, only to have everything go sideways, leaving her staring at the ceiling at home and contemplating the meaning of life.
In all seriousness, there are plenty of other chat rooms out there, but if this one is truly such a disaster that it needs to be shut down, I can't say I agree; I'd much prefer to see some concrete reasons for the trouble rather than just closing shop when a few warnings or a quick change of topic might have done the trick.
Goodnight, everyone; we'll get back to typing tomorrow, hopefully 🙂
