The art of the high-stakes handshake in Politics ·
I was watching some footage of international summits recently, and it got me thinking about how much "diplomacy" is really just vibes and optics. You see these leaders meeting behind closed doors, and the official statements always sound so sanitized and polite, like they’re reading from a script written by a PR firm. It feels like we're watching a carefully choreographed dance while the actual heavy lifting—the real decisions that change the course of history—happens in the quiet moments in between.

It makes me wonder how much of what we see on the news is actually substantive. Is a "good meeting" a sign of real progress, or is it just a way to signal to the world that everyone is still on speaking terms? Sometimes it feels like these high-level interactions are more about maintaining stability and keeping the gears turning than actually solving the massive, messy problems we're all worried about.

Do you think we place too much weight on these individual meetings between powerful people, or are these personal connections the only thing actually preventing total chaos?
Ashley Martin78 said:I went to see Dr. Rušinović when I was 43, and he mentioned this is becoming much more common—women are starting menopause earlier, sometimes even after 37.
For me, it was mostly genetic; I actually hit those stages two years ahead of my mom and sister.
I decided against hormone therapy, and honestly, I’m just not losing sleep over it.
I've put on some weight, but what can you do when you live for good food? Especially dessert...

Why wouldn't you opt for MLS treatment?
What about bone density and calcium intake?
Isn't this information accurate:

It runs in my family too, though there are certain symptoms my mother doesn't seem to experience.

I'm not sure who Dr. Rušinović is. I'm from New York City.

I know because I've lived long enough to recognize it.😁

Honestly, watching myself gain weight out of nowhere is just terrifying!
Now they're suggesting I jump on some hormone therapy just to get my period back,
but frankly, I'm scared.
Because those pills didn't do a single thing to help!
It makes you feel like you're just wasting away when you see your body changing like this without any explanation.
And all they ever tell me is, "Oh, don't worry, it's perfectly normal."
But for me, it doesn't feel normal at all!
In my book,😁
there's nothing left to do.
I wanted to be vocal about it, but I'll try to maintain some dignity. 😍
So, I'll handle it like a lady:
Screw it!
Is anyone else here?
What on earth is going on with you guys?
I’m just getting started, and even though I’m at the end of my Dabroston prescription, there's still no sign of my period. It's just... nothing.
Honestly, some days I feel like I might actually snap and take someone out, but luckily for everyone involved, I’m managing to stay perfectly balanced.🤣
I took the Dabroston, but it hasn't done a thing. Menzies is completely ignoring me right now.
And the struggle isn't over yet, either. She's going to switch me over to a different medication soon.
My wife is actually an OB-GYN.
I think I'm handling these side effects okay, but I've heard stories about women who find them absolutely devastating.
Oh, boy!! 😱

Jacob Perez56 said:I don't know... I'm honestly starting to worry. My cycle has always been incredibly consistent—exactly 28 days, every single time. Now, I'm already seven days late. I did have unprotected sex about eight days ago, but I'm trying to tell myself that couldn't possibly be it. Still, I can't stop overthinking it, especially since this entire month has been such a whirlwind of life changes and massive stress. Usually, when my period is coming, I get these specific symptoms like breast tenderness and stomach cramps, and I've actually been feeling those exact things for the last two days, even though the period hasn't arrived yet. I really hope it's just the stress getting to me. I need to go pick up a test.😢

It happened to me too. My cycle used to be clockwork, down to the minute, until one day it just wasn't anymore... right when you least expect it.

I’ve been hearing this from so many women lately. It feels like we’re all dealing with these shifts—maybe it's just nature acting up again, or spring arriving a little later than expected, throwing our internal clocks off.
There are actually several reasons why things might be delayed.😛First off, you could be pregnant (so just grab a test and settle your mind one way or the other), second, it could be a hormonal imbalance, or third, you might be hitting menopause earlier than anticipated.
To figure out if it’s menopause or pregnancy, you really need to get your prolactin levels checked.😁>
That third option hits a little too close to home for me.😁I was even prescribed some pills to help jumpstart my cycle, but they simply aren't working!! (I've been taking them drop by drop every third day).
The medication is called Dabroston. Honestly, I am right on the edge of a total nervous breakdown!! At first, I thought, "Hey, if I don't take them, maybe my period will just stay away forever," but then reality set in. You can't just ignore your health when you're young; you need your bone density, your calcium, and all that. Eventually, I started having these emotional outbursts that were just completely irrational. So, I decided to take the medication after all. While the mood swings finally subsided, my period still hasn't shown up (as if I should write a poem about it or something)😍. 🙂And no, I am definitely not pregnant. 🙂My doctor told me it’s probably not genetic and that I shouldn't overthink it.
But in my case, it really does seem to run in the family. I inherited this from both my mother and my grandmother.
