Kenneth Bailey said:What kind of lines are you guys seeing for Carmelo Anthony? Over at Williams, it’s sitting at 25.5. Premier has it at 26.5, and then there's the Derby, where the line is 27.5 but they set the juice for the under at 1.95 :/ I'm really weighing whether or not to pull the trigger on that.😁
If Supersport was offering those kinds of numbers, I'd take that bet in a heartbeat. 🙂
Kevin Durant at 1.75 against Carmelo Anthony, thoughts? 🙂
I think the money is on Durant. Carmelo saw exactly what happens when you let an offense find its rhythm and flow last night, so I doubt he’ll be forcing shots tonight. There is also a good chance they might sit out the fourth quarter again. 🤷
And honestly, people are sleeping on the Indiana Pacers. An 8.5 spread is massive, and I suspect they cover. They are treating these matchups against the Chicago Bulls like it's the playoffs—they are hyped up and convinced they should have made a deep run last year. It’s going to be a tense game, I believe. It’s a shame Derrick Rose isn't an option here; without Dengula and with Carlos Boozer likely being useless once again, the burden falls entirely on him.
Honestly, if the Bobcats can just hold their own and Amare manages to pull through, then fine—who cares about anything else? I’ve had enough of watching a high draft pick turn into a total bust just because some player spends the entire fourth quarter staring blank at the ceiling.
EDIT: My bad, I was definitely wrong on that one. Knicks +20.
I think I’ll put my money on them. The Bobcats are dealing with some serious injury issues here:
12/17/11 Reggie Williams SF Knee Out until at least late January 01/22/12 D.J. Augustin PG Toe Out until at least Jan. 27 at Philadelphia 01/22/12 DeSagana Diop C Knee Questionable for Jan. 24 vs. New York 01/15/12 Corey Maggette SF Hamstring Out until at least early February 01/24/12 D.J. White PF Knee Probable for Jan. 24 vs. New York
The Pacers are in a similar boat. They play such compact basketball. There isn't one superstar carrying the load; the entire roster just works together as a unit. Orlando might be able to keep riding this hot shooting streak of theirs.
So, let's look at the facts. A squad with a superior record, completely healthy, and coming off a night off—they lose by 25 points to a team that hasn't even beaten anyone with a winning record yet. They were missing two key starters, and on top of that, they had just played a grueling game the night before. It feels reminiscent of that Washington-Miami matchup or an old Detroit Red Wings game in hockey. Some things in sports are simply impossible to call. My apologies to everyone who was following along.
And credit where credit is due: the Celtics showed incredible grit to pull that win.
It just hit me. I'm sitting here looking at the box score and realized they absolutely tore it up, dropping 40 points right at the end of the third quarter.
Jesse Wright68 said:I'm watching, though part of me wishes I wouldn't. Honestly, anything could still happen here. But what really drove me up the wall was having an over on Wall than he didn't hit—he was just four points shy during the entire last quarter. It’s maddening. He was actually the player with the highest score at the exact moment he was subbed out.🙂
They were down by more than 20 on the road; it's standard procedure to let the bench rotation handle things until the final whistle.
The Celtics lineup is looking incredibly thin for tonight's matchup. They're heading into the arena with only 10 healthy players on the roster, and that includes just two of their usual starters. It's a tough pill to swallow. Rajon Rondo is out with a wrist issue, Ray Allen is dealing with a jammed ankle, Mickael Pietrus is sidelined by a shoulder injury, Keyon Dooling is nursing a knee problem, and Chris Wilcox is out due to calf trouble. Both Allen and Pietrus picked up their knocks during yesterday's game against the Wizards. Doc Rivers mentioned he expects Rondo and Dooling to be back on the court relatively soon, likely later this week.
Honestly, if you aren't playing the Orlando duo today, you're just not serious about this game.
Updated Player Pos Injury Expected Return 01/10/12 Jeff Green PF Heart Out for the season 01/22/12 Ray Allen SG Ankle Questionable for Jan. 23 vs. Orlando 01/22/12 Keyon Dooling PG Knee Questionable for Jan. 23 vs. Orlando 01/22/12 Rajon Rondo PG Wrist Questionable for Jan. 23 vs. Orlando 01/22/12 Chris Wilcox C Calf Out until at least Jan. 26 at Orlando
And let’s not forget they haven't faced any legitimate competition all season, and right now, Orlando is sitting right at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Bryan Adams6, why on earth are you betting on Dallas without Dirk? 🤷
If the Raptors can just weather this Clippers surge, we might see Griffin pull off an over, though I have my doubts given how shaky his free throw shooting looks right now.
Ugh, absolutely disastrous from the charity stripe. There's zero chance they produce anything meaningful in the 4th quarter at this rate; the over is dead. 😬
Wall is going to have his hands full against Augustin. Honestly, Boston just doesn't have any answer for a guy like him when Rondo isn't on the floor to anchor things. Wall only really started to wrap his head around that reality midway through the second quarter. 🙂
